Chapter 404
Jessica then added, "Now, before the charity auction, I have prepared a little social session for
everyone."
She certainly gained everyone's attention upon that announcement. Every pair of eyes were on her as
she continued, "We’ll be picking ladies present at random and auctioning her first dance for the night.
As with other proceeds, proceeds of this dance auction would be donated to the charity organization
under Stuart Holdings."
The ballroom grew a little restless-it was the first time they heard about auctioning a dance!
But come to think of it, this was a charity ball,1he more the proceeds, the better it was. In comparison,
how said proceeds were obtained was certainly secondary in importance.
Moreover, those who were taking part weren't here for the auctioned items-they were just donating for
the sake of glorifying themselves and their businesses.

The ladies below stage were whispering amongst each other. Some were raring to go, but they
wouldn't dare to step up for the sake of propriety.
At the same time, Patrick whispered into Cordy’s ears, "Are you going? I'll bid without a limit."
"You're mental." Cordy rolled her eyes at him, but he simply shrugged.
Two minutes passed, but no lady was going onstage, perhaps having been waiting for each other to do
it first.
"Since there are no volunteers, I'll pick by random," Jessica said, not letting things cool off. "Now, I'll
pick two so that the ladies won't feel awkward being singled out. And since everyone present has their
own auction number for the night, I’ll call out two numbers at random. If your number is called, I would
like you to come forward. Your first dance would hence be auctioned."
"Alright!" Someone from the crowd exclaimed in approval, and most agreed with the idea.
Jessica then said, "Well then, let's go with...Number 36?"
Every lady in the ballroom looked down to check their number; soon, a small voice could be heard
saying, "Here."
Everyone and the spotlight turned towards the direction of the voice where Noel stood, looking shy.
However, her chest gown was baring every part of her that could be bared, a rather calculative getup
that was a stark mismatch for her naive, innocent demeanor.
"Oh, it's Noel!" Jessica exclaimed chipperly, and beckoned at Noel. "She's a friend who traveled today
all the way from North City. Please, give her a warm round of applause to encourage her!"
Noel was blushing as she went on stage and stood at Jessica's side.
In reality, Noel was already raring to go when Jessica announced the dance auction, since she knew
that going onstage was the only way she would make an impression- especially after she was
completely ignored so far in the ballroom.

appeared overeager. Therefore, she could only bear it.
She certainly didn't expect herself to get so lucky to be chosen, and worked hard to repress her
excitement so that she appeared very bashful.
The harsh truth, however, was that no one noticed her until she went onstage.
Some of the guests had merely heard about her, but others had no idea at all.
However, her shy, alluring look actually stirred the juices of some of the men present.
Noel, in turn, noticed their gazes. She understood that even if she was no breathtaking beauty, the
maidenly presence she projected would draw the eyes of men towards her regardless.
She was naturally gleeful on the inside, thinking that she must've captivated a good number of men. In
fact, she planned to seduce one tonight...
They were all rich or powerful anyway, so she would be
pleased with any who came.
Beside her, Jessica announced the second number." Number 62!"
Cordy's fingers clenched over her auction paddle.
