Chapter 446
“What is the meaning of this?” Looking at Darren, Emmanuel asked with a
frown. Milani was the start of their grievances. In fact, the last time
Emmanuel’s mother was admitted, Darren tried to make things difficult for
both of them.
As such, he was afraid that Emmanuel bore a grudge and would retaliate
against him at any given moment. Naturally, he was thrilled that Emmanuel
was going to be fired. From then on, he wouldn’t have to be wary of him
anymore. “Haha! I can’t believe the nerve of you to ask this! Did you think
there aren’t any rules and regulations in this hospital? It’s reasonable to fire
you since you have been absent from work for nearly half a month. If I were
you, I would be too ashamed to return!” With that, he left with a smirk on his
face.
Emmanuel was puzzled as he recalled asking Frederick to help him ask for a
leave of absence. Why did it turn out like that?
The moment Frederick saw his expression, he immediately knew what
Emmanuel was thinking. As such, he quickly explained the situation, “I tried to
ask for a leave of absence on your behalf, but Dr. Barnes said that a long

Otherwise, it would be invalid.”
Naturally, Emmanuel believed in him. In addition to that, he believed that she
wasn’t that heartless of a person to fire him. After all, she was quite nice to
him in the past.
When they arrived at her office, the formerly amiable Dr. Barnes said
unexpectedly, “Emmanuel, according to the rules and regulations of this
hospital, you have been fired. Please pack your bags and find another job!”
“Dr. Barnes, how could you be so unreasonable? Emmanuel has his reasons…
Frederick wanted to intercede for Emmanuel but was held back by him
instead.
The moment Emmanuel noticed the expression on her face, he instantly
realized that this hospital could not accommodate him any longer.
At that moment, Darren was standing at the entrance. He smirked in secret
when he saw the hot soup that Emmanuel had gotten himself into.
The moment Emmanuel and Frederick were prepared to leave the office, Dr.
Barnes called out to him.
Frederick thought that the situation could be turned around. As such, he gave
Darren a snort of derision.
Unexpectedly, however, Dr. Barnes merely said icily, “Emmanuel, you should
give up on becoming a doctor. Even if you were to go to the other hospitals in
Yeringham, none of them would bother to take you in.”
“Why?!” Finally, Emmanuel couldn’t help but get work up. He had already
accepted the fact that he was going to be fired from Beacon Hospital.
However, why did that mean that nobody in the medical community in
Yeringham would recruit him?”
“Are you feigning ignorance?”
Not only was there a hint of contempt in her gaze, there was anger in there as well. “Hospitals would never recruit
doctors with no morals, How could you
hide behind the skirts of a woman?! You simply aren’t worthy of being called
a man!”
“Erm…”
Frederick was shocked when he heard this. Was she truly talking about
Emmanuel?
On the other hand, Emmanuel was even more surprised by this as he
thought to himself who on earth would spread such a rumor?
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFinally, he understood the true reason behind his dismissal. It seemed that it
was because of the influence of the Lenoir family. Come to think of it, Dr.
Barnes had the same surname as well! “Dr. Barnes, are you sure you have
done a thorough investigation on this matter? You shouldn’t blurt out
something without thinking and frame a good person!” Frederick still couldn’t
help but defend Emmanuel.
-Upon hearing that, Dr. Barnes became emotional as well. She bellowed, “General Lenoir confirmed this matter.
How could he be wrong about this?! My only regret was that we have been deceived by some people who looked
decent on the outside, but turned out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing during
critical moments.”
“Dr. Barnes!”
“It’s fine, Frederick!”
Emmanuel stopped Frederick before he could defend him again. Then, he
sighed and said, “My conscience is clear.”
He knew that it was futile to explain his innocence to those who did not
believe him in the first place. He was certain that the people who trusted him
would not have believed him to be capable of such things.
After all, General Lenoir was a powerhouse in Yeringham. If he were to
confirm this matter, who would listen to the sayings of a small fry?
“Hmph! Sc*ms like you are destined to remain unemployed for the rest of
your life. You deserve this!”
