Chapter 860 However, what happened next shocked the auctioneer and everyone present.
There was no limit to their shock, only more shock.
It seemed like Sylvia had a bone to pick with the Gentry family as the bidding for Healing Herb kept climbing higher and higher.
From one million to two million, it skyrocketed to five million in the end.
"What did they say? Five million?" "Isn't it fifty thousand?" Aman murmured in disbelief while those around him couldn't close their mouths or keep their eyes from popping out. "It's really five million! Buying a useless weed for that much money? This plant doesn't have any significant value." "Yeah, what's Abrus precatorius anyway? I've never even heard of it." "These two are crazy, right?" "Is Healing Herb hard to come by?" The people under the stage were discussing fervently.
Casey was so angry that his face turned red and his neck thickened. He felt like Sylvia was doing this on purpose and he was so furious that he felt pain all over his body.
But he couldn't swallow this anger. He snatched the sign from Carmelo's hand directly. "Six million!" "Young master..." Carmelo jumped in fright. "We can't add any more; if we do..." Although Blood Medical Sect was quite wealthy too, they had spent a lot of manpower and resources on refining those two detoxification pills. They were still working on making new ones too; therefore taking out six million or nearly ten million at once would be somewhat difficult for them.
Sylvia didn't even blink her eyes as she said, "Seven million." "Holy shit!" "So rich! Adding one hundred thousand after another like they're just paper bills instead of actual money?" "Eight million!" Casey added another one hundred thousand again.
He glared at Sylvia who remained calm nearby with red eyes full of fury. He was a medical genius from the Gentry family; he couldn't die nor could he perish away! Healing Herb which should have been obtainable with just one-million dollars has now been snatched away by this woman named Sylvia who came out of nowhere! Could he not be angry? No matter what price needs paying, he must get hold of this herb! He lost all rationality as his gaze fixed onto Sylvia who stood calmly not far away despite being extremely beautiful.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSo what if she looked pretty? Anyone who dared stand in his way would die! He could not find words strong enough to describe how much hatred he held towards her right now.
This woman is going too far! What is she trying to achieve by stealing Healing Herb when there are so many other precious treasures available? Why does she insist on fighting him over something as worthless as Healing Herb? Sylvia also felt that there was something wrong with these two people of the Gentry family. The Gentry family was from the Blood Medical Sect, and they had all kinds of precious herbs. Why were they so fixated on the Healing Herb? Healing Herb had no other use besides its effect on the Abrus precatorius.
She didn't want to waste any more time with the Gentry family, so she held up a paddle lazily and said, "10 million." 10 million! The whole room was in an uproar.
10 million wasn't a small amount for just one little herb.
Who was this woman? How could she be so rich? Casey's face turned pale. He opened his mouth to add more money, but Carmelo stopped him. "Master Casey, 10 million is not a small sum. Let's think of another way." "Uncle Carmelo, but if | get this Healing Herb, we will have hope!" Casey's eyes turned red as tears threatened to spill out of them.
But he swallowed them back down.
"I know that," said Carmelo sympathetically. "But if we use all our funds to buy it and your father finds out... we might encounter other Healing Herbes in the future that won't cost us 10 million." Carmelo couldn't bear to look at Casey anymore and turned his head away.
Casey let out a long sigh and sank heavily into his seat without saying another word. The Blood Medical Sect may have been wealthy, but their funds were tied up at present - coming up with 10 million cash would be difficult for them right now unless they sold some assets...
In the end, Sylvia received the Healing Herb from one of her attendants.
She looked at it before glancing over at Casey and Carmelo again - why did Blood Medical Sect want this herb so urgently? Did someone else fall victim to Abrus precatorius poison too? Was there an urgent need for detoxification? This Healing Herb not only cured Abrus precatorius poison but also strengthened one's body overall...
She didn't delve deeper into it; since she had already won this herb through auctioning it off successfully today anyway - she looked over at Franklin instead: "Let's go." There was no point staying here any longer now that she made such a big splash during today's auction; various factions would surely take notice soon enough... and then leaving wouldn't be possible anymore even if they wanted to leave later on! Franklin understood what Sylvia meant by her words perfectly well; thusly three people quietly left while another round of auctions began inside without anyone noticing their departure outside...
What they didn't know though is that once they left, they fell under everyone's attention from Blood Medical Sect who followed after them quietly- including both master-servant pairs! The black sky hung over the entire red-light district, and outside it was eerily quiet. The darkness seemed to swallow everything, and the whole street was filled with a heavy sense of unease. Three figures walked down this small street, surrounded by nothing but silence.
The night was pitch black, as if an endless ink had been smeared across the sky. Even the faint light of stars could not be seen.
The moonlight flickered in and out as it moved slowly behind dark clouds.
In the distance, at a corner of the small street, there stood a strange figure with footsteps echoing faintly behind them. It felt like there were countless pairs of eyes watching them from all directions.
"Come out!" said one man calmly without any hint of emotion in his eyes that sent shivers down your spine.
As he spoke those words, countless figures emerged from all sides and surrounded them tightly.
Franklin looked coldly at these men dressed in black clothes. He wore a black shirt with unbuttoned collar revealing his slender neck while his exquisite features made people admire him even in darkness where you could still see his lips slightly curled up showing dominance.
He sneered disdainfully at these men, saying, "A bunch of losers trying to ambush us?" Jasper also took out his dagger which he had won at an auction and assumed a defensive stance, saying, "Let's see how my new dagger performs." The leader wore a terrifying mask; His piercing gaze fell coldly on three people as he shouted angrily, "Leave me Healing Herb, then I'll let you go." He clenched his fists tightly; anger burning inside him almost evaporating him completely shouting again, "Hand it over!" Sylvia glanced down at her hand, holding Healing Herb worth ten million dollars before smiling slyly, saying, "This is something | bought for ten million dollars; do you want it? Well, then let's see if you have what it takes to take it away." With that said, Sylvia flipped gracefully into action under dim moonlight, jumping directly towards one man dressed in black clothes, while Franklin kicked mercilessly towards another man, sending him flying into wall with loud thud sound, echoing through dark alleyway At this moment, Sylvia accurately grabbed hold of the masked man's neck tightly! The man was caught off guard and tripped by Sylvia, falling to the ground in an instant. The other black-clad henchmen didn't have time to react. The man with the terrifying mask felt a searing pain in his back.
"Damn it! How could this woman be so skilled?" His angry eyes blazed with fury as he reached out like a fierce claw, trying to grab Sylvia's foot.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBut Sylvia reacted quickly and kicked him hard in the chest. He retaliated fiercely, but she kicked him down again and added another kick for good measure.
"Ah!" A miserable cry pierced through the night sky. It seemed that Sylvia's kick had not been light.
Meanwhile, Jasper was fighting with his knife against the other black-clad men. Thick bloody smell gradually wafted through the air, but Jasper was very precise and did not hurt any vital organs of his opponents.
The man behind the mask twisted his face into a grimace of pain and anger. Why was he so unlucky? He couldn't win this fight no matter what he did. He was so angry that tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.
Sylvia had wanted to punch him again when she heard something strange. This obvious crying sound sounded particularly clear and eerie on this small street at night.
Carmelo had been hiding in a dark corner all along because he was too old to fight anymore; he just worried about his young master all along... But now he heard his young master crying miserably like never before! He jumped up suddenly from where he hid himself earlier and rushed over to hug the masked man tightly. "Master! Are you okay? Did they hurt you?" Sylvia rolled her eyes at Carmelo's behavior - wasn't it just moments ago that they were surrounded by these black-clad men who were attacking them? And now their young master was crying like a baby? This sudden change of mood made her feel both amused and annoyed at once...
Carmelo carefully took off the mask, revealing Casey who cried even harder than before.
Franklin and Jasper walked over with puzzled expressions on their faces looking towards Casey kneeling before Sylvia. "Why is this grown man crying?" "I need Healing Herb urgently! If | don't get it soon, my whole family will die." Casey explained between sobs while still wiping away tears from his face every few seconds, clearly unable to control himself! "l also need to use Healing Herb for saving lives, so | can't give it to you," replied Sylvia disdainfully while rolling her eyes once more at how weak-minded some people can be...
"But I'm dying too if | don't get it soon," said Casey sobbing even louder than before, unable to stop himself despite knowing how ridiculous it sounded...
The more she thought about it, the more upset and aggrieved she felt. She couldn't beat him in a fight, didn't have as much money as he did, why was life so unfair? "Why is God so unfair to me?" he said with red eyes, looking like a pitiful cat that had fallen into water.
When Sylvia heard his words, she was taken aback. "All of your family members are dead?" But then Carmelo's face changed drastically. Why did the young master always have this habit of getting too emotional? He spoke recklessly like a drunk person sometimes.
How could they let outsiders know about the secrets of the Gentry family?
