“I’ve never been through anything quite like this before. It feels different this time,” Garrett admitted,

taking the teasing in stride. After having been through life-and-death situations together, there was

nothing they couldn’t talk about.

“Ms. Linsor is truly unique. Although I haven’t seen her in person, the vibe she gives off suggests she’s

an extraordinary beauty,” the bald, burly man said excitedly.

“Dozer, Captain has his eye on Ms. Linsor. Don’t even think about going down any inappropriate rabbit

holes, okay?” the short-haired girl cautioned.

“Oh, come on, I was just throwing it out there casually. I wouldn’t dream of competing with the captain

for a woman.” Dozer chuckled sheepishly.

She gave Garrett confidence and said, ” Captain, finding someone who really gets to you doesn’t

happen daily. Don’t overthink it, and just go for it. Your charm is bound to do the trick!”

“I’m afraid it could be too late.” Garrett sighed, shaking his head.

He added, “Ms. Linsor has her own personal bodyguard, and they’re always together. The nature of

their relationship seems a bit unclear. I doubt I’ll get a chance.”

Before, most of the jealousy seemed to be aimed at Dustin. Just by observing Grace’s protective

demeanor, it was clear that their connection went beyond ordinary friendship.

The short-haired girl narrowed her eyes and said, “Captain, ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ Have

you never heard of that?”

“Oh? You got a solid plan in mind?” Garrett’s interest was suddenly piqued.

“It’s easy. Once Ms. Linsor’s bodyguard is out of the picture, you’ll get your shot,” she said, much to

their surprise.

Garrett’s face momentarily stiffened at her words. After glancing around to ensure privacy, he lowered

his voice and said, “Silva, cut the crap. We have rules. We’re an exploration team, not mercenaries.

Engaging in killing and scheming like that would tarnish our reputation if word got out.”

“Captain, who will find out if we handle it quietly?” Silva said, smirking.

After years of wandering the martial world, deceiving and battling for survival, they’ve taken many lives.

For them, ending someone’s life was just a routine.

“Being Ms. Linsor’s personal bodyguard requires some serious skills.

Taking him out discreetly won’t be a walk in the park, especially with her security team in place. The

risks are too high if we decide to make a move,” Garrett mused.

“Captain, you’re missing the bigger picture here. I wasn’t suggesting we act right away. We shouldn’t

forget where our advantage lies.” Silva flashed a meaningful smile.

“You’re talking about … Deadlands?” Garrett swiftly grasped the idea after a momentary pause.

“Exactly!” She snapped her fingers.

She continued, “Deadlands is a dangerous place. People die there every year. Taking out that

bodyguard shouldn’t be too hard if we play our cards right and find the perfect moment. Once that’s

done, you can kick back and enjoy a blissful life with Ms. Linsor.”

Dozer couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “I get it! We’ll deal with him when the chance pops up in

Deadlands!

These peculiar statements in the tavern certainly turned heads and drew the interest of quite a few.

“Hey, could you tone it down a bit? Why don’t I get you a megaphone so you can let loose outside?

How about that?” Silva said with a hint of annoyance in her tone.

“I guess my voice is just naturally loud, “Dozer said, scratching his head as he quickly lowered his

voice.

“Captain, what do you think? There’s a golden opportunity right in front of us. Once we deal with that

troublesome guy, you’ll be able to bring the lady home,” she said, tempting and persuading at the same

time.

“All right! Let’s go with your idea,” Garrett declared with a determined glint in his eyes.

His expression turned serious as he muttered, “Well, Dustin, I’ve got to be decisive for my own sake.

So, don’t blame me for being ruthless. Point the finger at your unlucky fate for getting in my way!”
