I traveled through the canyon to the safe spot. On the way there I tried my best to always fight with 'Eyes of the Void' active, to get a better grip on how to move while being blind. I adapted rather quickly and reached my destination, just to resume the hunting immediately. Now I didn't have to care if it was dark outside, or not.
Fighting large groups with the skill turned on was way more difficult than the smaller packs. I made few mistakes, that actually allowed me to learn how tough I became. Even a clean cut from the regular orc could barely scratch me now. I also didn't bleed that much. Combined with the healing it made me kinda invincible, but I still focused on avoiding hits, to not become lazy.
Ki'rei also returned and tried to convince me to go with her to her masters, but I declined again. She became upset, but I calmed her down claiming that I'm keeping enough crystals to go with her sometime after I'm done with hunting in the canyon.
We also started sparring again, and she had even less chance of winning than before, but she allowed me to learn that my eyes became completely black when I use the 'Eyes of the Void' skill. On top of that, they were covered by the lier of void essence, so her usual dirty trick with sand was now completely useless.
During the fight with the boss I, for the first time ever, managed to punch that asshole in the face, and damn... It felt great. Especially when my punch broke his jaw.
I also learned something about the 'Void domain'. With this field active my shadow fusion became stronger, just like my ability to manipulate void essence, and my shadow summons also got more powerful. It had to have something to do with the void slipping to the realm of reality.
I couldn't formulate that thought back then, but I knew it has to be something like that. Now I know.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe canyon became easy for me, so I started to wonder if maybe I should try fully clearing other spots too. Like the lizardmen on the swamps, bears, or even the harpies. If I only could travel fast enough, then maybe I could cover multiple of those spots. That thought was at least exciting and made me want to focus on acquiring the Shadow pilgrim class.
That's how two months passed, and I started my return to the city. Ki'rei stayed with me until we reached the cliff, then she left. The last day of my journey I spend alone, traveling through the night, not worrying about the light, because I didn't need it.
I had to slap few goblins to death because they charged at me following their sense of hearing. I left the crystals though. By the morning I managed to finally reach the city, and as many hunters were preparing to depart in the early morning light, I walked into the city center.
There were at least a few dozens of people, and they pretty quickly focused their attention on me, and my carts filled with precious stones. I parked them on the side, and sat on the ground, to wait for the crowd to disperse.
Suddenly I noticed Amit, walking towards me.
- Morning Peter - he said. - Didn't expect you so early. Did you travel through the night?
- Morning Amit. Yes, I did.
- Nice hoard. Two months' worth of work?
- Yep.
- Damn... I never saw this much before. Maybe I should also go a bit further. Anyway... It's good to see you. I just wanted to say hi.
- Are you going to hunt rats?
- Yes. It's my last day, as, apparently, Blue will no longer hunting the wolves, so the hunting ground became vacant. Hatta wants to clime it.
- What about the boss?
- We won't be killing it for a while, but I think eventually...
- How about I help you for a few days? I would leave you all the crystals.
- That's... That seems like a nice idea. I'll talk about this with Hatta.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm- Let me know when you decide.
- Ok. See you later, Peter.
He left and rejoined the group of Wuxia's soldiers he was going to lead.
I never thought about the future of the wolves' territory after Blue was done with it. It was a surprisingly good outcome. I could get the remaining class points I needed, and then I would be able to finally get the Shadow pilgrim class I wanted so badly.
I waited Quite a bit, and finally, everybody seemed to be done with their shopping, so I could sell my score. All the 92430 regular orc crystals, and the 60 boss ones.
I then upgraded the three last skills of my hospitaler class and bought a new set of clothes. I wanted to keep the points, to get the upgrades when I unlock the second tier of Shadow walker. I bought some clothes, then send my shadows to park the carts, and finally went to take a bath.
After, I visited the cafeteria, to finally enjoy some good, warm wood. They had some stew on the menu. With a full belly, I finally returned to my room, and just collapsed on the bed. Not because I was physically exhausted, because I wasn't. My mental state has deteriorated heavily though. I had to use every last bit of willpower to keep myself hunting for those past two months.
I needed a break, but there was still so much to do, so I had to push it, and push it, further away in time. I knew I'm still gonna keep doing that, at least until I find more about our situation from Xuvi. I had to be prepared for those guys. They were fishy for sure, but I also just had to speak with them, since we needed more information.
Thinking, and worrying a bit about all of that, I eventually fell asleep...
The long period of time came to an end with 92 938 705 points remaining on my account, and eighty-two class points.
