"I'm not that hungry today, maybe it's because I've had too much alcohol recently while entertaining clients and my stomach doesn't feel good! Next time, I'll have two plates when I feel better!" At first, Frederick was enjoying himself but for no reason, he suddenly lost his appetite. He had a feeling in his gut that he would feel guilty if he ate the ravioli.
"You men are really so careless, not taking care of yourselves! You drank on an empty stomach again, didn't you? Don't eat if your stomach's upset. I'll make you snoodles! The water's still boiling, it should be quick, you will just make do right? Serves you right for not tellingsooner..." With that, Danica got up and went to prepare the noodles.
Staring into space, Frederick felt so irritated he was about to blow. His irritation was growing by the minute and unconsciously, he clenched his fists.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Frederick Clements! What is wrong with you?" "Are you that demeaning? Why do you keep longing for something you can't have?" Thoughts like these crossed his mind at that moment.
For no apparent reason, he just wanted to go hto that heartless woman. That was why he felt depressed.
It had only been a while, but how could he have gotten used to that woman? Forcing his eyes on the figure moving around in the kitchen, Frederick still felt perplexed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"She is still the same, the way he liked, gentle and virtuous but why couldn't he calm down? Wasn't this the warmth I was longing for? A smile and hot dinner to chto..." he pondered. While he was lost in his thoughts, Danica cout with a bowl of noodles.
"There you go, it's noodles in broth. I put in svegetables, an egg, and smeat floss to enhance the taste. It should be easy to digest, it's simple but it's good for you!" "That's great, thanks! Eat your food, it's getting cold!" The noodles she cooked both looked and smelled delicious. It even tasted good, there was even ham in it.
As he stirred the noodles around, Frederick's gaze darkened as he thought of something. Looking at the noodles, he noticed that Danica, who couldn't cook before, reminded him of Alicia at that instant. Everything had turned easy for her.
She was different from when she used to shriek just by turning on the stove. Vegetables cut by her would have been uneven in different shapes but currently, she could even slice meat evenly.
A thought hit him-she must have practiced hard all these years! Even when they were together, she would only cook occasionally. What had happened to her over the past few years? Taking a bite, the taste was bland and the noodles were of the right consistency. They were actually quite good. Once again, Frederick took another bite to validate his deduction.
"This is really good, almost as good as noodles from a restaurant! Your cooking skills have really improved! I remember a twhen you would fail to cook eight out of ten times! You would cook noodles into a broth or leave it uncooked!" "When was it? Was I that bad?" Laughing jokingly, their eyes met and Danica suddenly cto a realization. The smile on her lips stiffened. "Have you been cooking for the past few years?" Blinking a few times, Danica stuffed a ravioli into her mouth. It seemed hard for her to answer this question. The reason was that she hated cooking in the past. She had learned how to cook for him but they weren't together for the past few years.
Watching her avoid the question, Frederick understood something. "Danica, how have you been these years? Won't y t you tell me?" In fact, during the recent two times they were together, he felt as if he was forcing himself to go back to the past. But, in reality, the distance between them wasn't able to shorten in such a short time. Sometimes, feelings change as people change.
"Frederick... could you givestime?" Danica lowered her head and unconsciously clenched her fork tightly.
Catching her motion, Frederick put a ravioli on her plate. "Let's eat, the food's getting cold! Look at how skinny you are now!" With that, he stopped asking questions and they remained silent.
The air between them was cold for a bit before slowly warming back up...
After dinner, the pair sat in the living room for stbefore Frederick found an excuse to leave but Danica was obviously reluctant to let him go.
"I'll walk you out, it'll help with my digestion!" Learning from past experiences, she didn't ask him to stay the night. Actually, she had wanted to ask him about his secret wife because she had heard srumors.
However, she hadn't been back for a long tand they had grown to be distant. As for his close friends, they wouldn't speak a word about it and the others wouldn't know anything about it. Hence, Danica didn't even know Alicia's nand she didn't dare to find out for fear of it backfiring.
After all, Frederick had a wide range of connections. If anyone said something by accident, it would reach his ears in no time. Although it was a thorn in her heart, she never asked.

Frederick just glanced at her but didn't refuse. Every tthis happened, she would always feel pampered and proud.
Anyone who knew Frederick knew he repulsed women, especially unfamiliar women. If anyone touched If anyone him while he was in a bad mood, they would even be kicked out! There were very few women around him and those that could get close to him usually had sspecial relationship with him.
For example, there was Carson Vives' sister, Kaylee. Danica could tell that she liked him! But, a first, for many years, he would just prepare a gift for her birthday, and whether he showed up depended on his mood. There were several times when Carson would beg him to show up and as she would be going too, Frederick would agree unwillingly.
If it wasn't for Carson, Frederick wouldn't even look at Kaylee. There were a few times when Kaylee would cout with Carson and it was after they got to know each other that he started treating her like a friend.
When it cto accepting a woman, Frederick was definitely cold-blooded! From what she knew, it didn't matter how pretty or outstanding the woman was. He wouldn't accept her before getting to know her for a few years.
Additionally, she had a brief understanding of his wife. She had No, they didn't just appeared out of nowhere and she felt that they didn't have strong feelings for each other, therefore it was not important. But, something surprised her. The fact that he got married was already mind-blowing, not to say he didn't ask for a divorce now that she was back. This made her uneasy! He didn't reject her, so that could only say he still loved her! Given his decisive personality, shouldn't he have taken care of it? Why didn't he bring up that matter? He didn't even mention it in front of her!
