Rachel’s gaze flickered slightly as she said, “I casually asked a friend.”

David lifted his eyebrows slightly when he heard her explanation. His thin lips curled into a faint smile as he said

meaningfully, “You really are impressing me more and more.”

David caressed Rachel’s earlobes with his fingers, rubbing them lightly with his rough fingertips. His deep and

magnetic voice slowly drifted into Rachel’s ears. “You’ve done me such a large favor. How can I repay you?”

Rachel’s body could not help but tense up when she felt the man’s long and flexible fingers caress her sensitive

ears. She replied, “I don’t need repayment for small favors like that.”

“There’s a saying in Aureliana that says to repay small favors with many times the gratitude.”

“If you really want to thank me, then please protect me well.” Rachel pushed David’s hand away and said, sounding

unhappy. “After all, I am new here and I am not familiar with the people and places of Aureliana. It’s not as peaceful

here as in Seaxas either.”

She was deliberately teasing David with the words Georgia said earlier.

Rachel didn’t consider herself a magnanimous person. She was very petty and had a strong sense of

Seeing that Rachel remained silent, David looked up and asked, “Don’t you want to go?”

“I do,” Rachel replied with a faint smile. “After all, they’re your friends.”

If they weren’t David’s friends, Rachel wouldn’t have cared about them.

In the evening, six Rolls-Royces and two limited-edition sports cars drove out of the Peckham Palace.

Jimmy drove a pink sports car and, after honking at Landon, suddenly sped up like a runaway horse.

Landon did not give her a chance to feign ignorance and warned her in a cold tone, “I don’t care where your

hostility toward Rachel comes from, but I advise you not to constantly find faults with her.”

“Am I constantly finding faults with her?” Georgia chuckled. “I just chatted with her for a bit. Besides, I was just

giving her some advice based on facts.”

“Don’t you see how much David cares about her?” Landon’s brow furrowed slightly. “I don’t care what you plan to

do, but you’d better not think about doing anything to her. Otherwise, you’ll be the one who suffers in the end!”

He had seen firsthand how much David valued Rachel during his time in Seaxas.

However, Georgia didn’t take his advice seriously at all. “It’s because he values her that I need to help him at this

crucial moment! Others don’t know what David has been through these years, but you should know. You and David

have been good friends for many years, yet you just let him walk down the road to ruin like this!

“Rumors of David having a woman outside had already spread a month ago. The Elders sent people to investigate,

but there was always no news. Isn’t he proving the rumors true and giving people a chance to harm him by openly

bringing the woman back?

directly at Georgia. “Are you sure that what you just said is a calm analysis and not something to hide your personal

motives?”

Georgia’s heart tightened, her eyelashes trembling slightly as she looked down at her fingernails. She said, “It’s not

strange for me to like a man as excellent as David.

“And besides, even if I have feelings for David, it’s completely separate from any hostility I may have toward

Rachel.”

She admitted to being slightly jealous of Rachel, but she wouldn’t stoop so low as to use such underhanded tactics.

The observatory restaurant was located on the 32nd floor of the Entertainment Center. Standing by the window,

one could overlook the most bustling area of the city.

As the owner of the Entertainment Center, Jimmy was very generous. He had booked the entire restaurant for

tonight.

A waiter in uniform walked up respectfully and asked, “Mr. Shain, would you like to place your order now?”

Jimmy glanced at his watch. “Tell the kitchen to start preparation.”

He handed the menu to Rachel. “Rachel, take a look and see if there’s anything you like.”

“I don’t have any dietary restrictions.” Rachel politely declined Jimmy’s offer.

David poured her a glass of warm water and leaned in close to her car as he handed it to her. “No dietary

restrictions?” he whispered.
