Chapter 1768
In the end, Karina decided to call the police.
The officers arrived quickly and brought both of them to the station. After understanding the situation, they
began by addressing Kieran.
"I have a sister too, so | understand your feelings," one of the officers said. "But your sister is an adult, and you
need to respect her decisions. Plus, you've caused a significant disturbance for her neighbors, and this qualifies
as a public nuisance." "I'm really sorry, Officer. | got too emotional because my dad is sick, and | wanted to
persuade her to chome," Kieran replied, his tone remarkably convincing.
If Karina hadn't witnessed his other side herself, she might have believed his performance too.
The officer then turned to Karina. "Miss, when a parent falls ill, it's a serious matter. Even if there are issues
within the family, the focus should be on resolving them. You can't avoid it forever."

Karina quickly cup with an excuse. "It's not that | don't want to go back, but I've been really exhausted
lately, and tickets to go hare hard to get right now."
For now, her priority was deflecting Kieran and dealing with the situation at hand. She knew that if he had shown
up once, there would definitely be a second time. Returning hwasn't an option for the foreseeable future.
After smediation, the police managed to get Kieran to back off.

Before leaving, Kieran gave her a long, unsettling look. "Get srest. I'll cback for you soon."
That look sent a shiver down Karina's spine. It wasn't concern, it was a silent warning. This was only the
beginning, and he would definitely show up again.
After leaving the police station, Karina didn't go home. Instead, she headed straight to the bar where she had
previously worked part-time.
She found the floor manager, a male supervisor, and asked, "Do you happen to have employee housing? And if |
want to stay there, how much will it costeach month?"
"Of course, we have employee housing. It's a benefit we provide, and it's free," the manager replied.
Hearing that, Karina felt relieved. If she stayed in the employee dorms, Kieran wouldn't be able to find her so
easily. Plus, she could save on rent.
The manager, however, added, "But
to qualify for employee benefits,
there's a minimum work requirement. You need to clock at least 5 days a month. If you don't meet that, you
won't be eligible."
“That's fine,” Karina agreed immediately. "I can start working tonight."

As long as it meant avoiding Kieran, working a few extra shifts didn't matter. Besides, it wasn't like she was
working for free. Every shift would add to her paycheck, which
was a welcbonus.
The manager seemed pleased with her enthusiasm. "Great. You can start tonight. Srules as before base
salary plus commission. The more drinks you sell, the more you earm. And if you hit the top sales spot, you'll get
upgraded to a private single room."
Those extra perks were just icing on the cake for Karina.
She went hto pack her toiletries and a change of clothes before heading to the dorm. After a quick clean-up
of her new room, she took a nap before preparing for her evening shift.
The bar was bustling that night. Karina's job was simple-selling drinks-but that didn't stop scustomers from
trying to take advantage of her.
One particularly brazen customer leaned closer and asked with a smirk, "How many drinks would | need to buy
to have you for the night?"
