217 The Wrong Room
After running away like a gust of wind, Vincent reached his assigned room in no time. However, there was one problem. His blood servant was nowhere to be seen.
“I thought I asked him to stay here,” Vincent mumbled while looking around the room.
The thirst was getting unbearable for him by the second. His dilated pupils looked dark red in color. His fangs were now on full display. And the color of his skin looked so pale that it looked like he didn’t have a drop of blood left in his body.
The sweet scent that was lingering in the air because of the bloodstain on his shirt was making it even more difficult for Vincent to control his hunger.
A part of his mind was still telling him to go back to that werewolf and feed on him.
He looked at the door, thinking about going outside. However, he quickly turned away from the door and slapped himself across his cheek. “No! You cannot go back there! It was definitely a trap, don’t you see?” he shouted at himself.
He then grabbed the headrest of a chair and leaned on it. And he mumbled with a shaky breath, “I bet he knew that I was a vampire. Why would a werewolf deliberately ask help from a vampire when he was bleeding, unless he wanted me to fall into his trap?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtVincent breathed in loudly and thought, ‘Yes, that was it. So, let’s find Samuel instead of someone else. He must be with the other servants.’
He took out the mask that he had taken off while he was in the bathroom. He looked at it and grumbled, “Ugh! I should have chosen a full mask. At least it would have been helpful to hide my fangs.”
.....
He dropped that mask on the floor and went to open the door just a little so that he could peek outside first. He wanted to make sure that the corridor was empty before going outside. He didn’t want to unintentionally scare other guests and he definitely didn’t want anyone to misunderstand him.
However, to his utter dismay, he heard the footsteps of a group of soldiers approaching the room he was in.
‘Ugh! Why did they have to walk down this corridor right now?’ he shut the door and banged his head on it.
He kept on clutching the door handle and waited for the soldiers to walk past. ‘Come on! Move your feet faster! Faster! Come on!’ he restlessly kept on repeating it in his head.
When he was sure that they had reached far enough, he covered his mouth with his palm, walked out of the room, and headed to find the room where all the servants were supposed to be in.
“Samuel!” Vincent knocked on one of the doors down the same corridor and called his blood servant. “Samuel, are you in there?”
However, to his surprise, it was Tilla who answered.
“Lord Vincent, is that you?” Tilla opened the door, only to be shocked by how beat-up Vincent looked. “Oh good lord! What happened to you, Milord?” she asked worriedly. Looking at how he was clasping his mouth, she wondered if Vincent somehow cut his lips.
Vincent quickly let himself in, thinking that the others were also in the same room. And he shouted again while darting his eyes around, “Samuel? Where are you?” A sense of urgency could be felt in his voice.
Tilla answered while standing at the door, “Samuel isn’t here. I think he is in the other room.”
The moment he heard what Tilla said, Vincent realized that he was in the room that was assigned to the Queen. “Oh, please excuse me,” he apologized in his muffled voice and instantly turned on his heels to head for the door.
But before he could leave, Tilla asked him, “Are you hurt? If you are then I can tend to you.”
Vincent was touched by that kind gesture from Tilla; her polite and warm voice touched his soul. He didn’t want to stop there in the room for a second longer, but Tilla’s voice made him stop on his path and look at her.
‘She looks so worried,’ he thought to himself while gazing at her face.
Tilla’s heart skipped a beat when she felt Vincent’s soft gaze on him. Before she knew it, Tilla extended her arm to hold his wrist. In her dazed state, Tilla removed his hand’s grip from his mouth to take a look at his lips.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmVincent was also so caught up in the moment that he didn’t try to resist.
All of a sudden, Tilla drew in a sharp breath and pulled her hand away when she saw Vincent’s elongated fangs.
Vincent covered his mouth again and apologized, “I’m sorry. I’m just... extremely hungry right now.” He instantly tried to step out of the room. But he saw those soldiers from earlier coming back.
“Oh, for heaven’s sake!” Vincent hastily pulled Tilla away from the door and closed it.
Tilla’s heartbeat escalated like crazy because Vincent unintentionally pulled her close to him, making her body slam against his. And not just that, he had his hand around her waist.
Vincent was too busy leaning his ear close to the door and listening to the sounds of the footsteps for him to realize what he was doing to Tilla.
Tilla breathed in through her mouth and cleared her throat. And she whispered to him, “Umm... I could... I could go and call Samuel for you.”
“Right!” Vincent nodded his head because that sounded like a risk-free option. He wouldn’t be seen by the guards, or by the other servants if Tilla was to go and bring his blood servant here.
“Can you do that? It would be really-” he was dumbfounded when he focused his gaze on Tilla. He quickly pulled away from her when he realized that he was holding Tilla close to his chest.
He felt something warm running down his heart to his stomach.
He gulped and nervously looked away from her. And he asked while stuttering, “W-Will you bring him here? I need t-t-to umm... I need to feed.”
