Chapter Fifty One
“Don’t touch me,” | warned, but of course they rather obeyed Thane’s command.
The guard draggedaway, and the little distraction was easily forgotten. The executioner continued, and I lost
count.
Thane seemed mad at me. | had made not only him but also Axel suffer, all because | couldn't walk past the
damn room. | got what | deserved.
| felt slightly awkward due to Thane’s impolite words he hadn’t spoken tolike | was his Luna, more like | was
sannoying, clingy and bothersperson who didn’t know when to react and when to refrain. Still, |
couldn't help the surge of guilt | felt.
Maybe Thane was right; punishingwill make things easier to bear.
Lost in thought, I realized the soldiers had stopped before a room.
I pulled away from them to walk in, only to get shoved into the room by one of the soldiers. | landed on my butt. |
was mad at everything. | rushed for the exit again even if | knew | wouldn't be able to escape them, only to have
the door slammed in my face, a few centimetres from my nose, and then | was locked in. Thane had clearly
meant for them to lockin if | proved too stubborn, but they had taken the task too seriously, going ahead to
confineeven if | hadn't given them any issues.

There was something maddening about being in an enclosed place and knowing there was not way out. 1
After a few minutes, | got tired of pounding against the door, and | sat on the bed, my knuckles sore. My mind

Frey had warnedto get used to such cruelty because | would be seeing it more often; of course, | hadn't
believed her till now.
| was restless. | was wondering when | would be let out of here. When | could see Thane and... Axel, who had also
been in pain, | could,apologize; | didn’t mind being punished. Thane had done so much for me, and even though |
could never be able to understand him, | didn’t want anything to happen to him.
Was that really the only reason?

my face that he would so easily forget aboutwhen this was all over, and yet... yet | cared,

slowly. I hadn't gotten enough sleep, but | didn’t think | could calm myself enough to sleep. Not with the constant
panic that filledat the thought that Thane might be severely injured...
Just then the door was pulled open and Axel walked in, he dismissed the other soldiers.
| felt a burst of relief by just staring at him. | ran into his hands, hugging him tight. | deserved everything that
would cmy way for my mistake.
“Where is Thane?” | question.
“You don’t have to worry; it’s all over now,” Axel said, but | didn’t miss the way his eyes watched me; they
weren't soft like | was used to, and he ccloser. | had never been afraid to be in the sroom with Axel
until now.
