Chapter 168

When lan got a call from Holden, there was a hint of sarcasm in his eyes. He spoke softly, “I got it, I’ll

be there once I finish up here.”

He’d already helped the Pennyfeather family with their second round of financing, even signed a

contract with that woman. The Pennyfeathers should be quiet for a while.

But now they wanted him to come over in person, to show some respect. The Pennyfeathers‘ request

was too unreasonable. lan thought he’d already been patient enough with the Pennyfeathers. He’d only

left Greenfield, he didn’t leave a divorce agreement behind.

He thought that woman was forced into it, just like him, unwilling.

But when he saw her, he saw blatant admiration in her eyes, unhidden, even filled with ambition. It was

off–putting.

He even suspected that their decision to marry might’ve been her idea.

After all, his grandpa really liked her, genuinely cared for her. Plus, she’d saved his life once. If she

showed even the smallest hint of wanting to marry him, his grandpa would’ve definitely helped them

out.

But this kind of help was too forceful, basically pushing him to marry that woman.

lan was annoyed. He was doing well in the international finance circle, he’d taken over the Raymond

Corporation smoothly when he got back to his home country, but he still had to maintain this weird

relationship with that woman.

The Pennyfeather family relied on Holden’s support, which was too arrogant. After agreeing to Holden,

he hung up.

The business partner in front of him kept explaining his viewpoint, checking lan’s expression every now

and then. When he saw lan’s face turning cold, he treaded lightly.

“Mr. Raymond, did I say something wrong?”

lan chuckled, his voice leisurely, “I’ve read the plan already, it’s perfect.”

The business partner let out a sigh of relief, and started discussing the next topic.

On the other side, Maja also planned to ditch the Pennyfeathers, even though she was worried about

her dad’s health. But she needed him to understand that they couldn’t always rely on lan

lan had already intercepted the Pennyfeathers‘ business before. If they really pushed him, they might

go bankrupt.

Now that he’d helped them with their second round of financing, the Pennyfeathers should lay low.

They should stay away from him, not bother him.

She was not showing up tonight as a wake–up call for Neil, hoping that next time he’d think twice

before making such a demand.

But Maja didn’t expect that Neil’s call would reach Holden.

This made her image in lan’s eyes drop even further.

Maja opened her laptop, organizing the renovation materials she needed. Even though lan was loaded,

she still wanted to save him some money as a way of repaying him, because she owed him a favor.

All the materials had to be the best, and she would get the lowest price possible from the original

factories.

In the interior design industry, most designers would make extra profit from the materials. But Maja,

after being in this business for three years, only charged for her design work. However, she didn’t

always insist on purchasing directly from the original factories when dealing with previous clients.

By the time she’d organized all the materials, it was already seven in the evening.

Her phone was on silent, so she didn’t pick up the several calls from Neil.

Maja got the phone numbers of a few original factories through her connections. When she saw the last

factory’s information, she paused.

This factory was in Crystalbrook Valley.

Crystalbrook Valley was a relatively poor county, but it had a factory whose products were very popular.

It practically supported the whole county.

That was the rosewood floor, the most expensive wooden floor on the market. You could choose

between imported and domestic. The growth environment for this wood was very harsh. It used to be

imported from abroad, but Crystalbrook Valley, hidden deep in the mountains, had this resource.

However, due to government regulations, the sale of this wooden floor had been restricted in recent

years. The factory could only start cutting down the trees when they reached their annual planting

target.

Because of the tight supply, the wooden floors here would be pre–booked three years in advance.

Still, Maja wanted to give Crystalbrook Valley a try.

But, it was still a while before she needed to purchase the wooden floors. She needed to deal with the

other materials first.

After contacting each factory’s person in charge, Maja was so tired she just collapsed on the table.

She looked through the information she’d recently organized, and found one file at Rosewood Manor.

Not wanting to disturb Maria, she braced herself and got in the car.

Unexpectedly, she ran into Leo Elston at a street corner.

Leo was arm in arm with a woman, casually walking down the street.

Maja was so mad she could feel her scalp tingling. She parked the car, got out, and walked over.

“Leo!”

Leo froze. He thought he’d misheard and almost ran away, but then he remembered the woman beside

him, so he forced himself to stay.

“Maja, why are you here?”
