Chapter 411
Maja kept her lips sealed until the living room door was closed. Only then did she blink her sore eyes.
There’s a certain kind of hurt that only came when she’s utterly heartbroken, like a lump in her throat.
That’s how Maja felt like someone was choking her, making her breathing hard.
Last night, Neil had set forth some conditions. They had left her feeling defeated, but she had no
choice but to accept them.
She didn’t blame Neil, though. She understood him completely.
If she was in Neil’s place, facing greedy parents, and finding out his late wife’s daughter was not his by
blood, anyone would crack under pressure.
Neil hadn’t lashed out at her, showing remarkable restraint.
Maja spent the entire night going through documents, thinking that once the Pennyfeather family got
through their crisis, she would hand over the company to Tricia.
Even though she knew Tricia would gloat.
But now, she didn’t want to do that anymore.
Neil had always been soft–hearted towards the leaders of the Pennyfeather group. That just showed
what a genuinely good guy he was.
In the last stage of his life, he had given all his kindness to Maja. She felt it was her duty to carry on the
legacy of the Pennyfeather family. What she thought was just a mission now made her feel stronger.

She pulled out her phone and sent Neil a text.
“Dad, I won’t let the Pennyfeather group go bankrupt.”
Neil was in his room. He was in the late stages of liver cancer. The pain was so bad he couldn’t sleep.
Seeing Maja’s text, he coughed a few times, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with a
tissue.
His trembling fingers wanted to reply, but in the end, he just sighed.
Maja washed her face, looking at her red eyes in the mirror from a night of no sleep.
She took care of her face, and by noon, the lawyer already had the paperwork for the stock transfer
ready and personally delivered it to her at RosenGarden.
Maja took the paperwork straight to the Pennyfeather group.
The last time she had been there, the senior leaders had all recognized her.
Now that the contract with ByteWise Technologies was cancelled, the Pennyfeather group was pulled
back from the brink of disaster, and the leaders were back to their old slack ways.
Half an hour before Maja arrived, Neil had already posted the news on the company’s website that he
was transferring all of his shares to Maja and had made a will stating that she would be the new CEO.
The leaders couldn’t believe the news. Were they seriously going to be led by a twenty–something
girl?!
But Maja had a lot of evidence on them. At this moment, everyone was sitting in the meeting room,
looking at each other, all somewhat flustered.
They knew that Maja was not Neil.
Neil was soft–hearted, particularly towards the old employees who had been with him for a long time.
He couldn’t bring himself to be harsh, so even though he knew his old employees were stealing from
the company, he didn’t punish them.
But Maja was resolute. Her sharp eyes and strong aura were far more intimidating than Neil’s.
Tom was the first to speak.
“Are we really going to let a twenty–something girl be the CEO? If word gets out, we’ll be a laughing
stock!”
He slammed his hand on the table, his face filled with malice.
“If it comes to it, we can ensure she can’t come to the company! Neil hasn’t shown up for a long time,
anyway. If Maja kicks the bucket, her shares will be transferred to others who are easier to deal with.”
Everyone knew Maja was a tough nut to crack.
Moreover, she had a lot of evidence of their illegal activities. If she handed those over to the police,
many of them could be arrested for embezzlement.
As long as Maja was around, those pieces of evidence were like a sword hanging over their heads.

“We can’t let her be the CEO.”
Some people had a cunning glint in their eyes. They were enjoying fat salaries and high status in the
Pennyfeather group, but now they were being threatened by a young girl. Everyone felt uncomfortable..
Matthew also stood up. “So, what’s your solution?”
Just as he finished speaking, the office door was pushed open, and Maja walked in with a stack of
documents.
She was dressed in a white professional suit and black high heels.
と
Her hair was cut short and tied back into a low ponytail, revealing her smooth neck. She looked both
simple and beautiful.
She sat at the head of the table and looked at the two men standing up.
“Are you guys starting the report early? Let’s start with Tom, then.”
Tom was suddenly lost for words, stunned by her sudden entrance and imposing presence.
She seemed like a completely different person from just a few days ago.
She used to be formidable, but her long hair made her seem more like a beautiful woman men wanted
to conquer.
Now with her short hair and simple beauty, combined with her commanding gaze, she was even more
intimidating than Neil.
