Gradually, the yellow light disappeared, and I found Ayre again. She was already using her usual form and smiling at me, shedding tears at the same time.
I looked around, making sure I wasn't in the past anymore. The armors and weapons displayed on the walls were already different. Now, they had patterns emitting dim lights of various colors.
Yes, I'm back, and my emotions are running high.
Ayre hugged me. Her tears rolled down my chest as I kissed her head, hugging her trembling body back.
"Thank you for waiting for me all this time," I whispered into her ear. "Must be hard, huh?"
She let go of her hug, then looked at my face. Her smile this time was the most genuine I've ever seen.
"Welcome back." After saying that, she kissed my lips. I reply as passionately as possible because she hasn't felt this way for too long.
"Ugh….." Emily grunted. Ayre and I let go of our embrace and turned our heads to the supreme undead.
"Where's Zhoal?" She staggered as she stood up. "What the fuck happened?"
Ayre came up to that woman and hugged her. This made Emily raise an eyebrow.
"I missed you too, Emily." The shapeshifter general hissed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEmily looked even more confused. "But we see each other every day."
Ayre still didn't let go of her comrade's body.
I walked over to them, smiling. "Let's talk about this at the base. I haven't been there in months."
Emily's chin dropped. "Since when did you have that long hair and that thick beard, your majesty?"
***
Upon arriving at the base, I shaved my beard and hair, then entered Phisovia's room. I kissed the red-haired woman's forehead.
Her condition was very different from what I saw in the illusion giganpoppy created. Here, she was still pale and skinny.
"We already have a supreme witch, my love." I hissed in her ear. "Hopefully, she has a solution to cure you."
After brushing her hair gently, I came out of there, then sat on my throne.
Ayre was on her feet. She had just explained everything to my generals and a few key individuals.
Most of them were paying attention to that woman with their mouths agape, but Ritor scratched his head. Meanwhile, Emily was sitting on the ground, looking down and squeezing her forehead.
"Impossible." The supreme undead hissed. "So, all that I went through... Those were designed to make me become Lord Vorn's aide?"
"I found the story very romantic." Lana, also just hearing the story, intertwined her fingers. She looked at Ayre in amazement.
Ritor scratched his head again. "So this is what you mean, Robyn? To be more romantic is to go back in time?"
Robyn snorted. "Of course, that's not what I meant, sir Ritor."
I'm sure Robyn wanted to say Ritor was an idiot but didn't dare.
"You suggest my Ritor be more romantic to me, Robyn?" Lana gasped, then hugged Ritor's hand. "That's so sweet of you. But I don't think it's necessary. I've already accepted my Ritor as he is."
Well, Ritor's appearance is not neat anymore. His furs are messy because they are not combed. It seemed he could finally discuss what was bothering him with Lana.
Damn, an atmosphere like this alone makes me realize how much I miss them.
"So, the thing is, a part of my body is in your head, Emily." Ayre continued her explanation. "That's the part that contains the knowledge and abilities of necromancy magic."
The supreme undead raised her head. "So, I became an expert in necromancy not because of my own ability?"
"Without that part of me, you'll still get the hang of it, but it might take a very long time." Ayre walked up to the supreme undead. "So, that part of me gradually fused with you. The more fused it is, the more skilled you are at necromancy."
Emily was silent, her mouth still open. And then, she glanced at Ritor briefly. "So, I'm an idiot?"
"That's not what I meant. Without any background studying magic, I said you need time…."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"This means you can no longer do necromancy?" Emily asked again, and as soon as she received a nod from Ayre, she continued. "Then take this part of you from me. I don't need it anymore."
This time Ayre shook her head. "That's impossible. That part is completely fused with you."
"Damn it." She looked frustrated, and it made me get up from my seat.
"What's wrong, Emily?" I asked her.
The supreme undead massaged her forehead again. "Actually, I'd rather fight than deal with that many undead."
I crouched down in front of her and tapped her on the shoulder. "However, you were very good at it. Without you, it's not certain that we would have had that great victory."
"I know." She took a deep breath. "Just forget what I just said."
"I think that's enough explanation." Ayre's tone grew serious. "We'd better move on to a more pressing topic; about Phisovia."
"You already have a method of curing her?" Xenora got up from the ground.
Ayre looked into the succubus' eyes deeply, then answered. "No."
Xenora froze instantly. My heart rate crept up. If someone like Ayre, who studied magic for over fifty years, didn't know how to heal Phisovia, what should we do?
Lexi, the doctor, approached the shapeshifter general. "I-isn't there at least a hint? I'm also stuck with the healing method. Perhaps you can provide some insight."
"I didn't say our hopes were completely dashed." Ayre continued with a faint smile. "The thing is, a special person came to me. I suspect he is a government man. He consulted me about the metal to be used for his research."
"How can you be sure he's a government's lapdog?" I asked again.
"I'm not saying I'm sure about that. However, from his story, I concluded that his research was very sophisticated. It required a lot of money. Only wealthy people or the government could finance it. Maybe he works at one of the secret government facilities. And who knows, perhaps there's a poison specialist in that facility."
"Ah." I'm still suppressing my expectations. I might get more depressed if this becomes a failure too. "Then, maybe we should meet that man."
