Chapter 897: Family Quarrel

Cecile crossed her arms with a smirk as she looked at the three guild leaders. “Well, since my husband no longer meds in this puddle, I guess I will stop teasing your curiosity as well.”

“But!” Baiyun exclaimed.

“But what? Don’t act all high and mighty now, you can’t even outclass your peers,” said Cecile.

“Ouch,” Sakya muttered.

“Tch!”

“Tell me Baiyun,” said Cecile before her tone of words turned reign, “Do you consider yourself a leader or a cultivator? What do you see as you are now?”

“Wh-What?” Baiyun furrowed his brows. Her words colluded his pride as his throat convulsed trying to understand what to reply. The sourcᴇ of this content is NoᴠelFɪre.net

“A battle far beyond your scope will happen in the future.”

“Cecile!” Selena shouted immediately but the latter only batted her eyes.

Sakya frowned at Cecile’s words before she caught Farash tightening up her upper lip. She darted her glance back toward Cecile before asking her, “What battle?”

“Seal this place, Assid,” said Cecile.

“Certainly, your majesty.”

The three guild leaders raised their brows before an invisible domain crusted over the whole hall. Inepetretable from inside and outside, only the keen eyes of an expert could sense something was off, yet for the passing adventurers that tried to make a decent living, everything was fine.

Meanwhile outside…

A loud thud was heard before a curse word echoed.

“Fuck!!! My nose!”

Lyon crouched down as his ears drummed with the laughter of his grandparents.

Back inside the guild hall…

The three guild leaders almost forgot to take a breath at the sheer incompetence as they inevitably compare themselves against this one single overly dressed man. However, the title that he referred to the auburn woman made the latter even more shrouded with mystery.

“A-Amazing,” muttered Zelena. ( I know he is powerful but not to this extent! Domain, a place where even spatial storm couldn’t touch. What kind of cultivation is he at right now? )

Luna gulped at the mountain difference between her prowess and the rest, however, her firm determination came from the cry for help of a man that stood amongst the Three Realms.

“There is nothing to be afraid of, would I have meant harm, then I’ve been talking to ghosts already,” Cecile chuckled.

The three guild leaders’ hearts sank as they heard the innocent chuckle from the auburn-haired woman. They were revered in this very city, however, they still couldn’t compare her prowess. Not pure strength, but the bearing that told a thousand stories surrounding her silhouette.

( Damn, she is really obnoxious at times, however, that bearing is not given, it’s just a by-product of her regal figure ) Sakya gulped as her inner flame withered against Cecile’s flaming inner fire.

“War Maiden, I thought you would stop getting political in this new leash?” Selena frowned as she raised her chin and leered at the woman who had the same status as hers. Her frivolous killing intent exuded and instantly suffocated those around her.

“Kh!” Zelena was petrified by the terror that pulled out her goosebumps mercilessly. She looked at her twin sister with her pupils trembling. The vast difference between the three guild leaders and her sister was akin to a mountain and the sea. However, only one didn’t grovel at the latter’s killing intent. ( As expected, she is on par with her! ) thought Zelena before gulping as she saw the raging gale and the mountain clash through a glance.

“Selena, this matter will make them convulse, I want to see where the Mortal World would stand when it happens,” Cecile frowned.

“Maybe if you stop doing politics that incident won’t happen in the first place!”

Everyone’s heart instantly thumped as Cecile’s posture already leaned toward assaulting the Empress Void. “How dare you utter those words…”

“Tch!” Selena instantly retreated but the glare slowed her first step.

Luna could only clench her eyes closed as the inevitable was about to happen.

“Oi, what are you two doing?” a regal voice came from the entrance as Luna immediately opened her eyes with a smile.

Graham already stood behind Cecile and restrained her whilst Kesya did the same toward Selena. However, Cecile’s hand already reached Selena’s throat as the latter just need a push to penetrate the former’s. Graham and Kesya immediately pulled them apart from each other.

Lyon let out a big sigh. “This is not the kind of thing I was hoping to see after crashing into an invisible wall.”

“You did?” Lumina asked as if she didn’t read the situation enough.

( H-He always comes at a fortunate time ) thought Luna with a wry smile before she made a sigh of relief.

Bad blood was avoided and the intense atmosphere that made a lot of them grovel was lifted. However, the tension was nowhere near its end as the two women gritted their teeth.

Lyon approached calmly before standing between the two.

“So, might want to explain what happened here?” Lyon looked at Cecile then Selena.

“Why don’t you ask your Void of Love?” Cecile raised one of her brows.

( Woah, I never expected her to be acting like that ) thought Lyon before he glanced over toward Selena. “What happened?”

“It’s just a catfight,” Rui answered before sitting by his shoulder. “No need to fret over something like this.”

“Mother…”

( Mother?! ) screamed the three guild leaders inwardly. They could see the brown hare perching on his shoulder, however, to call a beast his mother was something entirely odd. They have never seen a human being raised by one before. A human was raised to hunt, not being raised by the beast that they hunted. Yet, the majestic aura that the brown hare exuded was ethereal compared to anything that they have ever encountered. The hare appear harmless, but they knew the hare was dangerous. A beast that achieved virtuosity.

“I will not tolerate a second time,” said Rui. “No matter if you got a special physique or are a swordmaster of the void, I will not tolerate it.”

( Woah… she is really strict ) thought Lyon as he gulped. He made a wry smile.

“I hear nothing?” Rui commented before both of the ladies raised their brows and broke free from their respective locks.

“Yes, mother.”

“Good,” Rui nodded, “Now then, the ones that feel the need to apologize, do so.”

Selena bowed her head almost immediately to Lyon’s surprise. “I’m sorry, War Ma— no, Cecile, I was stepping over the line.”

( I wonder if they hate their mother-in-law now, man, hearing the stories from the earth, they sure do clash often ) Lyon tightened his upper lips.

Cecile frowned looking at Selena bowing her head, before sighing. “It’s fine, just don’t do that again.”

“Kh!” Selena had lips twitched. ( This woman! She really knows how to piss me off! )

Rui made a snort as she looked at the two. “Well, that’s done, now get back to the matter at hand.”

“What’s the matter at hand?” Lyon raised his brows. “I thought we are done here?”

“We were supposed to be, but she— err, I mean, War Maiden here is trying to ask the guild leaders something.”

Cecile sighed as she slouched her shoulders. “I’m not in the mood anymore.”

“You!”

Kesya smiled as she held onto Selena’s raging shoulders.

Cecile snorted, “Graham, take that mumbling thing away.”

“Yes, Empress,” Graham immediately pulled the sack up his shoulder.

“I uh, I don’t know what just happened but, I guess it’s fine?” Lyon raised his brows in an attempt to get a reassuring answer.

“It’s done, let’s just take a rest at the inn— Oh, and Assid, you can turn your domain off,” said Cecile.

“So it was you?!” exclaimed Lyon.

“Apologies, young master, but she commanded me to do so,” said Assid as the bow. “I will take any punishment you order me to.”

“Alright, let’s not go that far,” Lyon quickly answered, afraid of Assid doing anything more than he should. “Let’s just leave.”

Lyon was the first one to leave before the rest followed, leaving the three guild leaders inside the hall.

“What the…” Sakya blinked twice. “So many amazing things just happened, but… what?”

“I-I can’t…” Baiyun’s lips kept parting as he couldn’t describe what just happened.

“Phew~” Farash took a deep sigh of relief whilst feeling her heartbeat with her palm. “No blood, that’s good, we are lucky that none of our limbs got chopped off.”

“Huh?” both of them looked at Farash who feigned.

Farash shrugged before walking away with her hands waved at them. “I’m tired, I want to rest for a bit, you two can think of anything you want, just don’t be overboard.”

“Sakya, did you know what just happened?” asked Baiyun as he darted his glance toward the entrance.

Sakya gulped. “I think that… I think that we just saw a family quarrel.”

Baiyun gulped. “That’s no ordinary family though, I uh, I need to be alone for a time, like right now.”

Baiyun left Sakya at the hall alone.

“Eh?” Sakya’s voice echoed throughout.
