Chapter 462 - You Promised Me (2)

While Tang Moyu busied herself driving back home, Feng Tianyi sat in the passenger seat scrolling through the latest news on his phone. The corner of his lips curled up when the news and photos of him and Tang Moyu arriving together earlier filled the headline.

This time, he would allow the headlines to top the search engine for a few days. He wanted to make sure that people knew that the empress was his, and could only be his, so that neither his stupid little brother nor Yun Zhen could take her away from him.

The devil had a smug look on his face that reminded Tang Moyu of a boy boasting about something to his circle of friends. What was the devil up to now?

'Empress Tang spotted with the eldest prince of Feng Conglomerate'

"What is so funny?" Tang Moyu asked as she glanced at him when she stopped the car at a red light.

"They were fast. I almost forgot about them." Feng Tianyi responded. He smiled when a photo of her hand with a diamond ring had been spotted. This should give the impression of who she was to him already.

The empress drew her brows in confusion. Was she forgetting something? Aside from the fact that they were coming home much later than expected and hadn't been able to pick up their little buns, what pressing matters was Feng Tianyi talking about?

As if understanding her unspoken question, Feng Tianyi turned his phone screen to let the empress see their photos online and what the reporters were spouting about them.

"Is that all? I'm disappointed they haven't caught whiff of us getting married. They aren't resourceful enough." She commented.

Feng Tianyi laughed and returned his gaze to his phone, busy saving the photos of him and his wife from the news outlets while Tang Moyu focused on driving.

"You aren't this interested when the rumors about you and Yun Zhen circulated. It made me think that you're allowing them to think whatever they wanted." She heard husband say.

"There's nothing to explain, Tianyi. Sometimes silence is enough to protect yourself than inflicting more damages in my reputation."

"That's true." Feng Tianyi nodded. "So what's the difference now?" He couldn't help but ask.

"Because we are already married, that's why. With Yun Zhen, it was just baseless rumors attempting to associate me with him." Tang Moyu turned her steering wheel to the right to make a turn.

She had to be careful on these roads as she hadn't expected that it would rain today. It was almost an hour before office hours ended, when the roads would start getting congested with traffic. Tang Moyu could only wish that Song Fengyan and her little buns had already arrived home by this time.

"But you cannot ignore that he's interested in you, Moyu." Feng Tianyi pointed out the obvious. If he didn't talk to her about this now, he would never have the courage to voice out his frustration.

"I didn't know you are bothered by it." Tang Moyu glanced at him before forcing herself to switch her focus back on the road ahead of them. It didn't matter to her if she was driving slower compared to the other cars that already passed them, as long as she and Feng Tianyi would be able to return to their children's side safely.

"Of course, I'm bothered. He isn't like any other men out there. Were you acquainted with Yun Zhen before all this?" He asked. There was something about Yun Zhen that made him wary of his motives.

"You can say that." Tang Moyu answered truthfully, "We met when we were kids, but that's it." historical

Silence engulfed the two as Feng Tianyi tried to understand the implications of her words. He didn't know why, but he remembered Auntie Lu's story about a boy Moyu had promised to marry when she was young.

"Please don't tell me he was the boy you promised to marry before." He told his wife, forgetting the articles he was reading earlier on his phone.

Tang Moyu fell silent, leaving him frustrated at the possibility that his assumption was right. He couldn't think of any other reason why Yun Zhen would boldly pester his wife like this if there wasn't a history between the two.

"Don't overthink, Tianyi. Don't forget, we are married now." She finally said, but Feng Tianyi wasn't satisfied with her answer.

So he was right! No wonder Yun Zhen wouldn't just leave her alone. But why didn't she marry that man when she had the chance? Was it because he ruined it even before she was able to reunite with Yun Zhen?

The remaining time on the road was filled with silence as neither of them spoke. Tang Moyu occasionally glanced at her husband's face, trying to figure out what he was thinking. She didn't think her childhood promise had a bearing and would affect her relationship with Feng Tianyi now.

Wasn't it enough that she married him and promised to spend the rest of her life with him? She didn't think Feng Tianyi would be upset over a silly childhood promise.

When they reached the front of her property, Tang Moyu pulled her car into a stop, releasing the buckle of her seatbelt before hurriedly opening the trunk of her car to get an umbrella. The rain was pouring heavily now. Thankfully, they have arrived at home, just in time before it became as heavy as this.

Because Feng Tianyi was preoccupied with his thoughts, he alighted from the car slowly and was shocked to find Tang Moyu standing too close in front of him.

"Moyu…"

"Please don't tell me you are upset." She said with a frown. "I married you didn't I?"

Feng Tianyi suddenly felt stupid for overthinking things about her and Yun Zhen, again.

"I know and I'm sorry." He looked away, "...but why didn't you choose him?"

Her brown eyes twinkled with the glow of the evening light.

"Isn't it obvious? Because he's not you, Tianyi."
