Chapter 558: Marvin
Chapter 558: Marvin
Charles also felt multiple presences in the Church building and turned his face solemnly.
He then glanced at Jessie and spoke.
“I want you to contact your lackeys later.” He paused for a moment and asked.
“Will they do suicide missions?”
Although Jessie got startled by his question, she quietly nodded.
“Yes.”
.....
“Good. It’s going to be a long and chaotic day then. Be prepared.”
The wooden door opened with a screech just as he was speaking, and soon seven black-armored men with weapons walked out of the old church.
He realized that they were Rank-5 Mystics with a mere glance and was surprised.
‘How did Marvin manage to beat all of them before escaping?’ At that moment, another thought crossed his mind.
‘Did Professor appoint more guards to stop Marvin’s escape plan?’ Charles felt that was the possible explanation.
While thinking deeply, he looked at the seven security guards and shook his head.
At that moment, the seven guards also saw Charles and Jessie and moved their hands towards their waists to draw their swords.
But they soon forgot what to do next and stood motionless on the spot.
‘These guys are too weak.’ Charles muttered with a sigh as he erased their thoughts.
He was once scared of these Rank-5 beings.
But now, they were nothing but weaklings in his eyes.
Still, he didn’t underestimate them and acted more cautiously.
Charles knew that these guards must have entered their Inner World and created separate consciousnesses to switch positions to avoid mind-related attacks.
Consequently, Charles cast multiple [Burning Thoughts] spells on them and erased their current thoughts. Simultaneously, he released thousands of invisible strings and completely bound them.
He then cast the [False Blink] spell, disappeared from where he was standing, reappeared behind them, and knocked them out.
His actions were too swift, leaving his opponents no time to think!

But just as he took the third step, an image of an emerald-green-haired woman’s face appeared in front of his eyes.
‘Melody? Why did I remember her now? No, a small memory of her suddenly appeared in my mind a while ago.’ He instantly skimmed through the memory and realized that it was filled with her worry about his safety.
He also saw her wandering alone through the dense woods in those memories.
‘She is returning to the Magewind City? Isn’t she too reckless?’ He shook his head and decided to focus on the current situation.
Even if she got captured by the Druids or killed in the Magewind City, he could do nothing.
‘It is her decision.’ Muttering, he continued to step forward and walked deep into the large hall.
Jessie also followed him, glanced around, and saw broken pews, chairs, and tables everywhere.
As she took a few more steps into the hall, she suddenly saw blood marks on the ground, touched it with her right hand, and recited a mysterious chant.
Once she ended the mysterious chanting, she made some ritualistic hand gestures and muttered.
“Siren’s Eyes.”
A second later, her eyes glowed in crimson light and showed distinct red lines to her eyes.
All those lines moved in a zig-zag manner in the church hall, crept towards the opposite wall like some spider web, and entered deep into it.
“Something isn’t right.” Jessie paused as he saw confusion in Charles’s eyes and then explained her [Siren’s Eye] skill. ????????????????????α????. ????????????
“My eyes are not for show, Mister. As long as I have a drop of blood from someone, I can track them down even if they are hiding in another world. When I realized that my younger brother was still alive, I used his blood droplet, did an ancient blood ritual, and gained this eye ability. Moreover, I came to Miracle City mainly because of the clue I got through this ability.”
While saying so, she started walking towards the opposite wall and soon arrived in front of it.
She saw a detailed map of the Miracle City on the wall and furrowed her brows.
She then raised her left hand and tapped the X mark region on the map
The next second, a loud clanging sound echoed throughout the hall.
‘A door?’
She quietly observed the wall, moved her hand towards a particular area, and pushed it.
A second later, a loud creaking sound echoed in the abandoned hall, followed by a bang.
Then, the wall before them started to move to the side and revealed a metallic door.
“Success,” Jessie nodded confidently, moved her hand towards the doorknob, and opened it.
But just as she was about to step inside, Charles raised his hand and stopped her.
He said, looking deep into the dark underground passage,
“Don’t be too hasty, Jessie. There is a danger up ahead.”
As he said this, he looked at a particular area and added.
“Marvin, you can come out now. We aren’t Professor’s allies.”
A silence resounded, followed by loud footsteps from inside.
“H-How did you know my name?” An anxious voice followed a few seconds later.
“I know more than that, Marvin. If you want to save your family, you have to listen to my every word.” Charles said coldly and folded his arms.
Meanwhile, the sound of footsteps echoed continuously, and soon a man in his 30s walked out of the underground passage.
He had messy black hair, amber eyes, a shallow nose, and tan brown skin, and he wore a regular linen cloth. He also held a strange pistol and looked at them warily.
Upon seeing him, Jessie took three steps back and got ready to cast mind-related spells on the man named Marvin.
Meanwhile, Marvin stared deeply at Charles and asked.
“Do you know where my wife and children are, M-Mister? They are being held as hostages.”
“No. But if you listen to our words and do as we say, you can save your family.” Charles spoke calmly.
At that moment, Marvin showed a hesitant look on his face before lowering his pistol.
“How are you going to defeat Professor? He plans to kill Demigod Rafael today evening.”
“You don’t need to worry about that. But I do need something else from you.” Charles paused purposefully and asked.
“Where is the Chaos Scroll?”
“Chaos Scroll?! How do you know about it?” Marvin’s face turned pale.
Truthfully, he found that scroll two weeks ago in an ancient city ruin called the ‘Bulbosa Realm of Lightning’ and planned to auction it after returning to the Miracle City.
However, he was shocked to discover that his wife and two children had been abducted.
It soon became clear the kidnapper had been after this ‘Chaos Scroll!’
With no other choice, he sought help from his friends and searched for the Chaos Scroll’s origin and value first.
But because of his carelessness, he soon got caught by the security guards and imprisoned in this abandoned old church.
“As I said earlier, I know many things about you and Professor,” Charles said solemnly and waited for Marvin to take the Chaos Scroll.
In the meantime, Marvin touched his space ring and took an eerie black scroll from the ring.
If it were two weeks ago, he would’ve made some deal with this person before giving the Chaos Scroll.
However, after suffering endless mental torture from Professor in this abandoned church, he decided not to even ask for a gold coin as a reward.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAll he wanted to do now was save his family first and leave this city as soon as possible.
Charles wasn’t surprised by his action.
When he met Marvin at Bronze Lane, he tried his best to conceal the scroll from John and other security guards and was on the verge of turning into a madman.
He even committed suicide in the end.
.....
Shaking his head, Charles took the scroll from Marvin’s hand, stored it in his space ring, and spoke.
“All you have to do now is to do as I say,”
While saying so, he moved towards the right side wall, took out chalk from his space ring, and wrote a name in English.
“Brooks.”
After that, he turned around and started walking towards the exit.
Soon, the trio walked out of the old church building and moved toward the carriage.
Once Jessie and Marvin entered the carriage, Charles moved towards a nearby tree, untied the horses’ reins, and climbed up to the driver’s seat.
Then, he sat comfortably on the seat, pulled the reins, and drove the carriage towards Langton Road.
...
A few minutes later, one of the guards slowly awoke and noticed that they were lying at the entrance!
Trying to wake others up, he slapped their hands and shouted,
“Morons! Wake up!”.
“What happened?” A guy groaned but soon sat up with a tensed look.
“Did someone knock us out? But why can’t I remember his face?”
At that moment, another guy tried his best to stand up and muttered in puzzlement.
“But we sensed three people standing outside and came here to check.”
“I have seen a black carriage, but I cannot recall its exact appearance. It seems vague to me.” Another man said and was about to say something but froze.
“Oh no!” He instantly turned around, opened the wooden entrance gate, and dashed inside.
Others also understood his words and entered the old building in a hurry.
They noticed the entrance to the underground prison was wide open and became pale.
“They might still be inside.” A guard said in a panicked tone and ran towards the other side.
However, another man shook his head and spoke in a gloomy tone.
“The prisoner has already escaped. I sense no presence from inside.”
He hurriedly took out a bracelet from his pocket and contacted their captain.
