Sarah looked up at Xavier with starry eyes, playing the role of a damsel in distress perfectly. Meanwhile, Xavier
pulled her closer with a protective embrace, gently patting her back.

The reporters had originally rushed over after hearing about Bobby being surrounded by the mob. However, they

side.
As the nurse helped Lily to her feet and slowly guided her toward the clinic entrance, Lily's usually expressive
eyes were completely devoid of emotion. Like still water, they simpl reflected Xavier's stern expression as he
focused entirely on Sarah in his arms. "Miss, let's take the side entrance," the nurse suggested since the main
entrance was blocked by the crowd.
Lily stopped when she reached a spot that was level with Xavier, looking at him past the reporters. Perhaps her

Sarah whispered something in Xavier's ear, and he quickly looked away, intimidating the reporters into backing
off before hurrying away with Sarah. Back in his car, Xavier glanced once more at the clinic entrance, but Lily
was already gone. The memory of her gaze made his brows furrow deeply.
"Xavier, if we don't leave now, we'll miss the international conference, and the company's efforts for the past
two years will be wasted!" Sarah fastened her seatbelt and added guiltily, It's all my fault you had to chere."
Xavier said nothing as he finally started the engine. He thought Lily was not in any real danger but just a little
roughed up. While he did not understand the situation fully, he felt that Lily was foolish to appear in public, given
that Hayden's case was blowing up everywhere. Maybe she would finally learn her lesson. Since she had not
asked for his help or shed a single tear, he had no reason to step in.
With that thought, he turned toward the road and headed back to the office. Still, his mind kept wandering back
to Lily's eyes. They were so empty, as if he were a stranger.

she was going to keep causing problems, they might as well get divorced. Forcing thoughts of Lily aside, he sped
