The pain radiating from Angeline’s shoulder did not affect her at all. She remained still in her spot for a long time as
she listened to the sound of a car’s starting engine before the said car drove past her. Even then, Evander’s words
were still ringing in her mind.
The mention of a child broke her heart again.
However, the moment she recomposed herself, she realized something else.
It was not the right time for her to wallow in her misery. With Evander’s status and position in society, it would be a
piece of cake for him to blacklist her in society.
If that were to happen, everything she had done so far would be washed down the drain.
What would she use to take revenge on Joseline if that were to happen?
Moreover, it was true that Floretta was hurt because of her. At the very least, she should head to the hospital to
visit the girl and express her sincerest apologies.
Thus, Angeline wasted no time lingering in the spot as she rushed back into her car and drove in the direction the
black Maybach had gone in.
Angeline followed the car all the way to a private pediatric hospital.
The Maybach stopped outside the emergency department.

entrance of the department.
Once they saw Evander, they rushed forward. One even reached out to carry Floretta.
However, he was forced away by Evander’s glare. Then, Evander strode into the building with a tensed jaw, still
holding onto his daughter.
Angeline was surprised to see that. She never thought that the icy man would be quite the caring father.
It was only after Evander entered the hospital did Angeline unbuckle her safety belt and went in after him.
By the time Angeline found the VIP ward that Floretta was in, Floretta was already done with all of her tests. The
doctor told Evander that Floretta had only grazed her skin and was mostly fine.
Hearing that, Evander’s grimace finally seeped away a little.
“Daddy, I already told you that I’m fine! Angel really isn’t at fault for what happened today; it’s my fault! Don’t be
mad anymore!” Floretta cried out before pouting. Her knees had been treated with iodine and were currently
exposed to the air.
Evander’s frown only deepened after he heard her words.
“Daddy…” The more Floretta spoke, the weaker her voice became. She could see how the expression on her
father’s face was getting darker and darker.
Olivine, who was standing at the side, had been silently fuming.
As her eyes flitted toward Evander, she pasted a fake kind smile on her face and patiently said to Floretta, “Floretta,
that woman isn’t someone nice—”
Rage flowed through Floretta like lava, and she rolled her eyes at Olivine. “Hmph! I’m talking to Daddy, not you!”
“You…” Olivine nearly growled.
She was the daughter of a prestigious family, so she never had to endure infuriating moments like this, let alone
one induced by a young child.
“Evander!” Olivine turned to cast pleading eyes at the man.
Evander’s eyes flicked toward her, and he said in an indifferent tone, “Ms. Sherrock, it’s late now, and Floretta is
fine. Please return.”
“But…”
There was nothing Olivine could say to change Evander’s mind by then. Even when she saw Floretta sticking her
tongue out at her, she could only tamp down her anger and hesitantly mutter, “Okay.”
Right as she exited the ward, she bumped into Angeline, who was about to enter the ward.
Angeline was holding onto a bag of snacks that she had just bought from the supermarket outside the hospital.
Guessing that Floretta must be hungry, Angeline had gone back out of the hospital to buy some food for the girl.

Then, she whispered, “Still, a pauper will always be a pauper. Let’s see if you can really turn into a princess.”
With that, Olivine lifted her chin and strode off.
Angeline tightened her grip on the bag and scoffed.
A woman with ever-changing emotions like her has close to no combat powers. I don’t even want to respond to her.
While Angeline was lost in her thoughts, a cold interrogative voice suddenly sounded out above Angeline.
“What are you doing here?”
Angeline raised her head to see that, at one point in time, the door to the ward had been opened, and Evander had
stepped out of the room.
The two of them nearly collided with each other.
The moment Evander saw her, his relaxed expression turned grim again. In fact, he even raised his brows.
This woman is like an unwanted piece of gum sticking onto us!
“Mr. Golding, I was thinking about how Floretta must be hungry, so I’ve brought some food, planning to…”
Angeline then raised the bag she was holding onto to dispel Evander’s suspicion. However, Evander did not even
look at the bag—he continued staring right at her.
In the next second, the man towed her away to a silent stairwell before she could figure out what he was trying to
do.
