"Feeling scared?" he asked, his collar slightly open, revealing a delicate collarbone and a faint masculine scent. He propped his hands lightly beside her. "If you wantto let you go, it's simple." Her eyelashes quivered slightly as she tried to stay calm, but the panic in her eyes was hard to hide.

A smug smile played on his lips as he pulled out his phone and dialed Dillon's number.

Soon, Dillon rushed into the hospital room carrying a box full of canned peaches.

"You like these, don't you?" He glanced at the cans, then turned to Dillon, "Since she loves them so much, open every single one and let her have her fill." Dillon looked shocked for a moment but then quickly started opening the cans. The sweet smell of peaches soon filled the room.

Eliza's eyebrows knitted together. She'd just barely escaped death's door and was still filled with relief and exhaustion.

Thirty cans of peaches? Was he trying to send her back to the brink? "Casper, have you lost your mind?" Eliza's voice was incredulous and angry. It carried a note of desolation. Her desperate and angry eyes showed she was utterly disappointed in this man. "Don't you like them? What, is it because they're not from David that you don't want them anymore?" He leaned in closer, almost blocking out the light above her, his voice teasing, "Isn't that it?" Eliza's face was expressionless. "I'm not going to eat them." He scoffed, a flash of indifference and disdain showing in his eyes. He grabbed the peaches David had sent and threw them into the trash can. The cans made a dull thud in the bin. Casper's voice was cold. "Dillon, watch her. Don't let her leave until she finishes." "I think those cans are enchanted or something." Casper's voice faded into the air as the door closed.

Eliza stared at the thirty cans of peaches, looking lost.

Dillon picked up each can and dumped them all in the trash.

"Mr. Casper is just throwing a tantrum. Please don'tget upset," Dillon said as he cleaned up, then opened a window to let in sfresh air. "Get srest. I'll be going now." Eliza just nodded, saying nothing more.

Casper sat in the car, resting with his eyes closed.

Dillon cout and got into the car. Over the years, Dillon was the only one who could speak candidly with Casper. "Mr. Casper, you're about to divorce her. Why bother with all this?" Casper rubbed his tired brow, a flash of complex emotion in his eyes. He turned to Dillon, his voice tinged with hesitation and confusion, "Dillon, I don't want to divorce her." Dillon felt a jolt of surprise. He looked at the usually composed man, now showing an unexpected vulnerability and confusion. "Mr. Casper, why the change of heart?" Dillon asked, baffled.

Casper didn't answer; he just gestured with his hand. "Let's go, we're going horseback riding." Dillon nodded. "Yes, sir."

The sky was vast and blue, dotted with fluffy clouds. Sunlight Bathed them in a golden glow.

They mounted their horses, their voices echoing through the air m Casperkode fiefeely as if trying to vent his pent-up frustrations. "Dillon," someone called.

Dillon turned to see who it was. "Ms. Nova? What brings you here?"

"I heard from Faithe that you were going horseback riding, so I cto check it out." Nova was in high M wasin spirits, her face glowing. "Casper looks so handson a horse." "Mr. Casper likes to run around the equestrian field when he's down," Dillon explained. X
