Chapter 65
After all, Jareth was top-notch when it came to courting ladies.
“Hmph, are you really asking for a beating this time?” Evadne retorted, gritting her teeth. Her eyes were
icy cold and brimming with murderous intent.
Jareth didn’t dare to step closer, hastily retreating two steps, acting all innocent. “Ms. Evadne, I was
just kidding with you. Don’t be so mad. Besides, I’m the victim here. You’ve already hit me, yelled at
me, and even got my clothes dirty. I have lunch with my mom later. If she sees me like this, she’ll
definitely be upset. Anyway, could you help me change my clothes?”
Evadne felt that she had indeed gone a bit overboard. After all, compared to the superficial Thaddeus,
Jareth was a reasonable guy. He had stood up for her when she was bullied by Acacia. She
remembered these good deeds he had done.
“I’ll have my secretary prepare a new set of clothes for you, and arrange a room for you to bathe and
rest in, what do you think?” Evadne frowned slightly, her expression cold but considerate.
“Ah, that would be too much trouble. There’s a department store nearby, why don’t you accompany me
to buy a new set? I may not necessarily like the clothes your secretary picks out.” Jareth’s mouth curled
into a small smile, his eyes filled with anticipation. “If possible, I hope you could personally pick out a
set for me.”
Evadne thought for a moment. It was broad daylight, Jareth surely wouldn’t do anything excessive in
front of her, so she agreed to his request.
Evadne drove Jareth to the mall.
On the way, her speed was faster than his heartbeat, and her driving skills were proficient. The journey
that should have taken twenty minutes was completed within ten minutes.
Jareth’s mouth was wide open in shock.
“Get out of the car, now.” Evadne unbuckled her seatbelt and emotionlessly opened the car door.
“You’re rich, and you have lots of free time, but I have to work.I have got a lot of things to handle.”
“Ms. Evadne, your driving skills are really amazing!”
“Mm, I used to drive a taxi before I met Thaddeus. I’m very experienced.”
With that, she got out of the car.
Jareth, who had a certain reputation in the underground racing world, instantly recognized that this

with! He smiled slightly, finding this girl more and more interesting.
It was a Monday, so the mall wasn’t crowded. Nevertheless, the appearance of such a striking couple
as Evadne and Jareth in a public place still attracted a lot of attention.
Jareth said with a grin, “Ms. Evadne, I came to the hotel to see you, I’m afraid reporters might give you
a hard time. You’ve been quite the hot topic online recently…”
“I remember, you like to wear YL clothes,” Evadne said indifferently.
“How did you know?”
“The first time I saw you, you were wearing YL’s haute couture, and the suit you wore when you spoke
at the charity auction was also YL’s haute couture.”
“Oh? You’ve been observing me quite closely.” Jareth smiled slightly, secretly delighted.
“But to be honest, YL’s clothes really suit you,” Evadne said emotionlessly.
“What do you mean?”
“Fancy enough, quite flamboyant.”
Jareth was at a loss for words.
“There’s no custom-made clothing here like you usually wear. These are off-the-rack sizes, so you’ll
have to make do.”
“No problem. As long as you buy it, I’ll like it.” Jareth smiled slightly.
Evadne ignored him and walked straight into the clothing store. The store clerk was very attentive when
they saw the high-profile customers.
“Money isn’t an issue, Mr. Jareth. Just pick whatever you like.”
Evadne sat on the couch with her legs crossed. Her trousers were outlining her attractive leg shape,
drawing quite a bit of attention. The store clerks were all stunned. Where did this strong woman come
from, with such a tremendous aura.
Jareth squinted his eyes, licking his lips, finding the situation very . He had always been the one
buying things for women, but now this woman in front of him was buying things for him. This was a first.
He felt pampered!
At the same time, two lavishly dressed women happened to pa** by the store entrance.
They bumped into Acacia and Una, who were shopping at the mall.
“Mom! Look, it’s that annoying Ilana!” Acacia angrily pointed at Ilana in the store, who was with Jareth.
Unexpectedly, this woman was also closely a**ociated with Mr. Jareth in private. She was indeed a
woman who liked to h ook up with men and fawn over the rich!
“Acacia, this is an opportunity!” Una said excitedly, “You find a way to get Mr. Thaddeus to come to you
now. Only when he sees this scene, will he completely give up on that cheap wench Ilana!”
“But, mom, Mr. Thaddeus is working at the company now, he rarely accompanied me shopping on
weekends before, and it’s even less likely for him to come find me now. And…” Acacia whispered, “I
just used the depression episode to regain his care. I need to behave better now, can’t be willful and
cause him trouble anymore.” *
“You’re so stu pid!” Una jabbed her forehead with her fingernail, “Finding him to accompany you during
his work hours is indeed unreasonable. But if you have a good enough reason, it’s a good opportunity
to get closer! You always considering men’s feelings will only make you less cherished! Let me tell you,
men like to feel needed. If you’re too obedient, they actually don’t like it. If you think of him whenever
something happens, or find him whenever there’s trouble, he will feel valuable in front of you. You
always depending on him will give him a sense of accomplishment!”

Acacia blinked. She didn’t entirely agree with her mother’s words. In the past, when her father had
power and wealth, her mother clung to her father like a vine. The result was that her father took her
more and more for granted, he had many lovers outside, and at home, he made all the decisions.
Mom had to put up with a lot to keep her place as the lady of the house. Now she was fifty, and though
she was secure in her role, the Stirling family had seen better days. Dad was always sick, and she was
becoming a joke in high society. She might have been Mrs. Stirling, but her life felt empty and pointless.
“I’ll call Mr. Thaddeus right away and tell him you’re out shopping alone. I’ll make up some story about
not being able to reach you. He knows you’ve been feeling off lately. If he cares about you at all, he’ll
drop everything to find you.”
Una grabbed Acacia’s shoulders and smirked. “Wait till Mr. Thaddeus sees his best buddy with his ex-
wife. He’ll hate Ilana even more!”
Thaddeus had just wrapped up a meeting and was back in his office when Una called.
“Mrs. Stirling.” His voice was cool.
“Mr. Thaddeus! Have you heard from Acacia?” Una asked anxiously.
“No, what’s up?”
“Acacia said she was feeling low and wanted to go shopping. I offered to go with her, but she didn’t

hours, and I’ve been trying to call her, but she’s not answering. Then her phone was off. She… she
didn’t get into any trouble, did she?”
”
Thaddeus remembered Acacia’s severe depression and felt a pang of worry. “Did Acacia tell you where
she was going?”
“She said she was going to check out the new department store near K Hotel, but she didn’t say
anything else.”
“Okay, got it. I’ll go find Acacia right away. She’ll be fine.”
After hanging up, Thaddeus grabbed his coat and headed out. “Get the car ready.”
Thaddeus arrived at the mall as fast as he could, calling Acacia as he looked around. Finally, she
answered. She sounded soft and gentle. “Thaddeus…” “Acacia, where are you?!” Thaddeus was
worried.
“I feel a bit tight in the chest. Just sitting by the elevator on the second floor.”
“Don’t move, I’ll be right there!” Thaddeus rushed over to Acacia.
“Thaddeus!” Tears welled up in Acacia’s eyes as she got up and threw herself at Thaddeus. “Now that
you’re here… I feel so much better. I’m not uncomfortable anymore.” “Why didn’t you answer your
mother’s calls?” Thaddeus asked, concerned.
Acacia quickly made up an excuse. “My phone died. I just found a charger and got it juiced up a bit.”
“You should never go out alone again. It’s too dangerous for you in your condition. Do you
understand?” Thaddeus chided her gently as he helped her up.
“As long as you’re with me, I don’t need anyone else.” Acacia rubbed her cheek against Thaddeus’
chest, smirking inwardly. Listening to her mom was definitely the right choice. Thaddeus still cared
about her. She was still the most important person in his heart!
Just then, people started to whisper.
“Aw, what a lovely young couple! Look how beautiful the girl is, just like a girl from a painting!”
“And the boy is so handsome, and so fit. You can tell he’s rich just by looking at him!”
Thaddeus heard it all, but he was not the nosy type, so he didn’t turn around.
Suddenly, Acacia squealed.
“Oh my! Thaddeus, look, what a coincidence!”
Thaddeus turned around, his face blank. Then his eyes widened in surprise. The next moment, his dark
eyes filled with anger, as if ready to ignite in flames.
