She looked saddened as she stared at the ceiling, but Mike disagreed, “You might think so, but I'm going to rescue Nick even if |
have to sacrifice myself!”

“Then what?” Lily asked blandly.
Her question bewildered him. “What do you mean?”
“Will you be able to protect him forever if you sacrifice your life?” she asked.
Mike was stumped. Indeed, he could not guarantee that.
‘We face various problems in our lives. Even if | give up my life, can | guarantee my son will be safe forever? | don’t think so.”
