Austin realized Mike was getting emotional, adding, “I never knew you were so good with children. If | were you, | wouldn't know
what to do. Anyway, they do look a lot like Alex. What do you think?”
Austin tilted his head as he asked, sizing up the sleeping babies.
Mike also tilted his head to look at them. Indeed, they had Alexander's eyebrows and Lily’s mouth.
“They sure do, but we can’t make such assumptions. The more we think that way, the more they look like Alex and Lily. If | told you
they aren't Alex's children, would you still think they resemble him?” Mike looked serious.
Austin thought, ‘Indeed, now they don’t look like Alex and Lily.’

He shook his head and straightened up, saying, “Shit, you're right!”
“That's why we shouldn't wonder if they resemble Alex. It's best to wait for the DNA report.” Mike gently tucked in the babies, his
gaze like a loving father.
Austin sighed inwardly.
‘Looks like | can’t stop him from thinking about his son. Forget it. Just let him be. At least seeing the two babies might make him
feel better.’
After leaving the bedroom, Austin went straight to the outhouse where Rhea was. He was curious how the drug would affect her.
The laboratory had created many horrible things, and each drug had its own trait. The symptoms somehow varied, whether the
pandemic virus or the ones on himself, Cameron, Dominic, or others.
After working as a physician for many years, Austin knew individuals differed—however, the differences in how the svirus
manifested seemed rather substantial.
He arrived at the door to the outhouse and saw the glass window at the top. It was not large, but it offered a view inside. Trying not
to make a sound, Austin tiptoed and peered in. He saw nothing unusual but could tell the place looked empty.
‘Empty?’
Austin blinked and looked harder.

‘It is empty! Where the hell is Rhea?!”
Thinking he had missed a spot, he rubbed his eyes and looked again. No matter how he blinked and stared, there was no trace of
her.
‘Holy shit! This can’t be happening!”
He turned and sprinted back to the main house. When he reached the room closest to him, he said to Mike, “We've got an
emergency—"
Not wanting to rouse the babies, Mike hushed him with a hand gesture.
Austin knew he should not wake them up but could not care less now. He lowered his voice and tried to sound calm as he said,
“Rhea has gone missing!”
