Humanity's Greatest Mecha Warrior System-Novel
Chapter 875 875 Out With The Old
Talking directly to each other definitely didn't avoid the attention of whatever was giving Max the feeling of being watched. As they mentioned the correlation to the Arisen Army, he began to feel the sensation again, and Nico's thoughts said that she was feeling it too.
Being watched by a being from another plane of existence, or whatever they chose to call the layer of subspace that they lived in, was not likely to be a good thing for any of them, but they were nearly finished with their Mecha designs, so once they got the two new Super Heavy Mecha with their increased defensive capabilities and firepower up and running, they could send the designs off to Uncle Lu.
Nico had kept him updated on most of the developments they had made so far, but he didn't have any of the testing data yet, only the basic construction data. Once he had it, no matter what happened with the strange beings giving Max the creeps, at least the Reavers would have the latest and greatest development data from their lab.
Max didn't get the feeling that whatever was watching wanted to kill him, but that didn't mean much. To the beings who called themselves "New Gods" in his past life, the death of a mortal was much like the death of an ant. There was no malice to it. They simply didn't care at all and turned their attention to the next ant which was doing something interesting.

"It's close enough. Let's get this sent away, and then we can optimize and upgrade our System Functions to make them just right." Max suggested once the last of the mechanical fitment was completed.
Sitting in a whole new Cockpit again was a strange experience for Max. He had gotten so used to the interior layout of Cleansing Light that even the luxurious interior of the Super Heavy Mecha felt a bit strange and awkward.
It didn't take him too long to get used to it, though. Nico knew how he liked his controls set up, and they were already very close to perfect, so it was just a matter of moving a few to more convenient spots for the new systems and adjusting his seat so that everything was at the proper distance.
None of the panels required adjustment, other than the moved switches, so Max began the process of optimizing the Mecha for his needs. The Disruptors on the arms were nearly perfect already, but the reaction times of the Mass Driver pods were way off, and the targeting system was out of calibration.
Both were easy adjustments to make since they were software related, but there were a few connections in the legs that weren't responding properly to the signals they were receiving.
That turned out to be an actual design flaw, as the movement cylinder had been increased in size for more stability, but the line size hadn't changed, and it couldn't keep up with the input commands at maximum flow rates.
It only took a few minutes to change out the line and increase the fitting size on both legs while Nico and the Research Team finished with her Mecha and went back to work on the acid spray.
That was the part that was giving them the most headaches out of this entire build, but once they had it worked out, Nico was completely certain that it was going to be the finest weapon that she had created so far.
And that was how the day ended for the next four days.
Four whole days of 99 percent complete Mecha, just waiting for the chemical containers to be filled for their final weapon.
It was on the fifth day when they finally made a breakthrough, though not in the direction that they were expecting. The self-perpetuating acid still eluded them, but they managed to find a chemical that created a massive endothermic reaction with a change in pressure.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmOnce it was sprayed and landed on a target, it would suck the heat out of it in an instant, leaving most metals and alloys, even some ceramics and most polymers, extremely brittle.
That wasn't quite what they were going for, but it looked like it was going to be effective, so they set up the testing as soon as the compound was confirmed stable enough for military use when under pressure.
Their initial testing determined that it was quite stable at most pressures, and it was only the rapid decompression that caused the reaction. There were many refrigerants that operated on the same principle and would suck in the heat with a change of pressure, but the reaction of this one was particularly violent and extremely long-lasting.
It might have been created and abandoned in the past, as it was useless in a commercial setting unless you had a massive area to freeze and a condenser which would not grow brittle with the repeated cycles of cooling. But, for now, it was obscure enough that they didn't think anyone would be expecting it.
"Let's get that into a blade injector and see how it works against various armour platings," Nico commanded, sending all of the Innu scurrying to create and set up target dummies.
The first target that they would try was the Galen ship armour. Well, as close as they could recreate it, they only knew the composition of the material, not the construction method.
When the blade hit the material, and the vibration effect started, the armour immediately began to crack. So, when the spray poured in behind the blade, there were already deep cracks, and the shrinking of the material expanded them in an explosive fashion, tearing the plating apart.
"Well, we can call that a resounding success. Now, we need to see if it works against the Arisen War Walkers as well, and then we can call it versatile in this battlefield." Max congratulated the team.
