Chapter 348: Not A System Host?
'Is Divine Spirit something part of this world or is it just a ploy by Systems?' Compass Carburettor frowned, unable to determine just what was the truth.
"But, I have to find it out first. It'll be risky, but I have to determine it. Otherwise, all my plans would be destroyed by him." Sighing, he muttered, closing his eyes to sleep.
…
It didn't dawn yet, but Ranze had already woken up and finished his preparations. He wore regular clothes underneath his sect uniform. And strung to his hip was a spatial bag containing all the necessities he had packed.
In the Gaider Realm, spatial bags were expensive. But, the one with him was given by Elder Galda just to complete his mission faithfully, causing him to be grateful. After all, when everyone else looked at him with disdain for awakening a Trash Martial Spirit, Elder Galda was the only one that logically told him the problems with it and the means to solve it.
He gave Ranze the confidence that he could become a powerhouse realistically.
This was why Ranze felt gratitude towards Elder Galda. And now, he had set off for his task, soon leaving the Giant Mist Sect as he loaned a horse from a stable along the way, riding it towards the Misty Gorge Ruins.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe Misty Gorge Ruins was an infamous place where people disappeared all the time. It wasn't frequented by people due to the dangers the place posed, not to mention the vicious beasts that lay there.
In the Gaider Realm, there was the human race that ruled the place. Followed by it were monsters known as Origin Beasts. They were greatly inferior to humans on the same cultivation level due to the fact that they didn't possess any Martial Spirits.
They were only capable of going against Trash Martial Spirit cultivators on the same level as them on equal foot. Anyone else would be able to destroy them with greater ease.
But, that wasn't the case usually since the Origin Beasts made up for their weakness with sheer numbers. Only three percent of the human race consisted of cultivators.
As for the Origin Beasts, since they didn't have a Martial Spirit, they all cultivated naturally. So, all of them had cultivation. This was how the balance in power between the two was maintained.
And, the Misty Gorge Ruins was one such place that was filled to the brim with Origin Beasts. Those from the Giant Whale Sect typically used the outermost region of the Misty Gorge Ruins as a training ground.
They killed Origin Beasts on a large scale to harvest materials from them. Since Origin Beasts cultivate, the Origin Essence would seep into their body, turning parts of their body into materials with special properties.
Some are turned into special weapons that are suitable to be wielded by cultivators. And there were even some powerful Origin Beasts in the Martial Providence Stage with special body parts that Martial Origin Stage cultivators would drool over to fuse with.
And based on the map Ranze obtained, the Ancient Adhesive he was aiming for was located within the ruins that were in the centre of the Misty Gorge Ruins. Reaching there would be tremendously difficult for any cultivator, even those at the Martial Providence Stage.
After all, there should be countless Origin Beasts at the same Stage in the core of the region. "But thankfully, I have a detailed map to evade all the dangerous territories."
Ranze summoned his Martial Spirit, gazing at the map that was displayed on it, "As long as I roam through the borders of the various Origin Beast territories, I should be safe."
He then got down from his horse, took in a deep breath before his eyes brimmed with vigour and fighting spirit. He tied the horse to a tree situated in a secluded location and began to walk towards the Misty Gorge Ruins, noticing a field of mist a couple of kilometres before him.
The entire region was covered with mist while massive trees grew amidst. He slowly arrived before it when it was morning, taking in a deep breath before walking through the narrow entrance.
Ten minutes after he had entered it, a group of cultivators arrived at the entrance.
Immediately after, two people exited the Misty Gorge Ruins, gazing at the leader of the group to greet respectfully, "Boss, our target has entered ten minutes ago. As our sources said, he doesn't have any cultivation."
"Alright, let's move." The boss of the group said, "We'll target him once he's a bit deeper. Can't have any Giant Whale Sect members interfering us to save him."
"Once this is done, we'll own a spatial bag." One of the members laughed, "That'll help us loot the Giant Whale Sect members that come here to train."
"Hahaha, of course!" The boss, Helk laughed aloud, "We'll soon establish our stronghold in the Misty Gorge Ruins and traffic both people and goods."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Boss is wise!" One of the members fawned over in praise.
"Boss is wise!" Everyone else echoed the praise as Helk gloated in response.
But, what they hadn't known was that Ranze was currently unconscious, lying on the ground precariously.
And standing before him was a jet-black figure cloaked with a curtain of the night.
As the Spydragon was on his clothes, it was easy for Compass Carburettor to track Ranze, quickly flying into the Misty Gorge Ruins as he used the mist to his advantage. As for any Origin Beast that tried to hinder him, it was turned into dust immediately using Dust Wave.
Once he neared Ranze, Compass Carburettor used an energy blade to ambush Ranze, knocking him unconscious.
"Now, let's see your true identity." Saying so, he slashed with an energy blade, severing Ranze's right hand.
Blood gushed out profusely from the wound as he stared at it, grabbing hold of the arm as he flew far away before taking out Anthozoa.
This was the best method to determine if someone was a System Host or not.
System Fragment!
Though, after waiting for a couple of minutes in such a fashion, he frowned, for nothing happened. Ranze's severed hand wasn't sucked in by Anthozoa, proving that there wasn't the body of a System in him.
"Haah!" Upon confirming his suspicions, Compass Carburettor sighed, "So, he transmigrated through other means."
