"We're trapped!" An expert bellowed upon seeing that those that charged up the mountain turned into dust when they approached a certain area. There was nothing there originally, but when someone crashed into the place, ripples appeared in the air, like how the air dances above a flame.
it became apparent that there was something there that was capable of killing them. The stretch of mountain on both the sides had the same barrier that turned them to dust.
This only left them a straight path from the portals to the Tura City Fort. But, this stretch of path was harder to cross than the rest, thanks to the acid dripping down from the sky
Even though entrances to the Velar Secret Realm opened in multiple locations, the entrances to the Reality Marble opened even more, causing the acid to pour on the scattering armies.
Due to the chaos and in their best efforts to survive the acid, the seven armies dispersed throughout the area, running in random directions, having long since lost their order.
At this time, Yaotorr, the Tura City commander raised his hands, shouting, "All units! Projectiles! Raise!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
An expert standing nearby condensed a massive drum as another expert condensed a large stick, beating the drum in a certain rhythm. This served as the signal that was heard by everyone on the walls of Tura City.
Immediately, every expert that had a projectile ability condensed their Martial Spirits, aiming it forward, raising the angle, remaining ready.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Fire!" Upon Yaotorr's command, the projectiles were all released, blanketing the sky due to their sheer numbers as they rained down upon the scrambling army, eliciting countless screams.
Even if someone was from the Martial Providence Stage, they would still be injured by attacks from experts at the Martial Origin Stage. And with this hail of projectiles, it was hard to remain uninjured.
After all, the acid attacks were still every present, having spilled enough on the ground to form small puddles everywhere.
And when those in the armies scattered around, they mistakenly stumbled into the puddles during their hurry, injuring themselves while also causing the acid to splash onto others.
It was chaos!
Standing at the frontmost position on the Tura City walls was Zorn, holding a granite bow, something that was what one would expect the last out of a granite.
But, this was his Martial Spirit's ability as he condensed a granite arrow, loaded it into the bow and shot it into the air.
His arrow whizzed through the skies at speeds surpassing all the other projectiles, breaking the sound barrier as it slammed into a powerhouse that he had aimed for. His attacks were frighteningly accurate.
But despite everything, there was a complex expression on his face.
After all, he was Warktor's disciple.
…
"Hahaha! Look at this brat's glare. How scary!" A burly man with a hairy chest grinned, gazing at two teenagers trembling on the floor before him.
Both were fifteen years old, twins, one boy and one girl. They were orphans and hence had to struggle for a living.
They typically begged and worked in the mines or other dangerous places to make a living. The boy was Zorn, and the girl was his sister, Zora.
As they were twins, Zora was able to pull off a boy's disguise, thanks to her brother's help. That was how she survived in their dangerous world.
And as they lead hard lives, both were skinny. This resulted in her body failing to develop, preventing anyone from realising that she was a girl.
That was how they survived through thick and thin, until word somehow got out that Zora was a girl. It caused the burly man to set his sights on her, hoping to sell her off to a brothel to make some quick change.
Any amount of penny would do, even if it only paid for a single meal. It was something he would be getting for free anyway from selling her.
He was also planning to sell Zorn to a brothel that catered to the preferences of women. Anyway, both would allow him to make some quick change, since he felt that if they were cleaned up, they were quite passable.
And hence, he targeted the. Even though he wasn't a cultivator, he had confidence in the strength f his body. In the past, he had been able to even kill some Origin Refinement Stage cultivators thanks to his brute strength.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSo, he was indeed confident.
Zorn and Zora didn't have the strength to resist, but they didn't wish to suffer a fate worse than death, and hence, resisted with all their might.
Zorn held a knife in his hands, protecting Zora behind him as he glared at the burly man, "Don't come near me! I'll kill you."
"Heh, this is one funny brat." The burly man smirked when his hand shot forward, grabbing hold of the knife as he yanked it away, uttering with raucous laughter, "Those ladies of high society would prefer a funny brat like you."
"But first, you must learn some discipline." The burly man said as his tone turned serious.
Zorn couldn't eve reach when a slap sent him skidding on the ground. His head spun while he coughed blood from the impact, unable to breathe for a moment as he wheezed.
"Kyaaa!"
Hearing his sister's shout, Zorn gritted his teeth, biting his lips to use the pain ad forcefully clear his mind, getting up as he realised that he wasn't the burly man's match. He quickly looked around, noticing a middle-aged man calmly seated in one corner of the tavern, sipping some tea, ignoring everything happening in his surroundings as he seemed deep in thought.
Zorn hurriedly rushed towards the middle-aged man, shouting with every ounce of his strength, fishing out the sole Essence Stone in his pocket as he placed it on the table, "Respected sir, please save my sister!"
"Hmm?" The middle-aged man broke out of his thoughts, gazing at the Essence Stone on the table before swerving his gaze in the direction of the burly man that had lifted Zora by the scruff of her neck, stating calmly, "One Essence Stone isn't enough."
"T-Then, take my eyes." Zorn said spontaneously, "If you sell them at the black market, they'll fetch you a good price. My eyes can see far away with clarity better than a bird's."
"Then, I'll take up the offer." The middle-aged man got up, slowly approached the burly man and took hold of Zora. He then turned around and walked towards the tavern's exit, gazing at the stupefied figure of Zorn, "What are you waiting for?"
"I need my eyes."
As for the burly man, he remained as a statue for a second before his body melted into a puddle.
