'The Personal Fragment isn't hers.' Compass Carburettor felt odd at the fact that a Personal Fragment existed in the lady's body that didn't belong to her. But, there was still a connection between them.
Aware that he had indeed stumbled upon something related to what his senses had told him when Stencil explained about this world, Compass Carburettor didn't wish to lose sight of the lady.
He then made a motion of stashing away his gun in his robes, walking towards her as he warned her, "Are you an idiot? These alleyways are dangerous. Come on, I'll escort you to the main road."
"I'm…fine, kind sir." The lady said, "Thank you for helping me. I'll be able to manage myself from here on."
"You? How?" Compass Carburettor purposefully sighed exasperatedly, "Your aura only pertains to that of a Novice. How can you even protect yourself?"
He then massaged his forehead, grunting as he acted like it was an annoyance, grabbing hold of the lady's hand as he began to drag her out of the alley, "I'll listen to your reason. Don't lose your life foolishly."
"Y-Yes," The lady bowed as her eyes reddened, almost tearing up in response as she stared at the burly man that was gently escorting her away.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSoon after, he brought her to a nearby restaurant, the same where they transacted with Faluda and Wayna, watching her take a seat as he ordered some cool drinks.
The lady drank two whole glasses before calming down to a certain extent before she began to talk, "My dad was an explorer of ruins. He was pretty famous among the explorer circle and had one of the highest success rates. He chanced upon my mom during one such exploration, found trapped within a ruin."
She ordered another glass of cold drink and began to drink it, speaking her mind, "Eventually, they fell in love with one another and married. She had mysterious origins but as my dad too constantly travelled from one place to another in search of ruins, he didn't bother inquiring her about it. But eventually, her origins indeed put us in trouble."
She then hesitated in whether or not she could speak further, conflicted as she wasn't sure if she could trust this stranger before her. But, she didn't have anyone to rely upon, and for some reason, the man before her that had arms resembling tree trunks felt amicable.
From the start, he was listening to her calmly, without expressing any falsities or judgmental gazes at her, allowing her to feel at ease.
"I've been travelling with my daughter through a lot of places myself. So, I can understand your situation somewhat." Compass Carburettor said, motioning for her to continue.
The lady took in a deep breath, continuing forth, "My mother was originally from the Titan race. She was Princess of the Tushan Kingdom. And thanks to forging a contract with a Demon, she assumed a human appearance. But something amiss happened during the process, trapping her in that ruin where my dad found her."
"And eventually, one of our enemies, the Galm Empire captured that Demon and ended up discovering her identity." She clenched her hand into a fist, biting her lips as she continued, "And then…they killed my dad. After that, I don't know what happened, but for some reason, I found myself in this city when I woke up. This is too far from the Tushan Kingdom."
"I…am the spawn of a Human and a Titan." She said, noticing that the expression of the man before her only showed mild surprise.
Cross-racial fertilisation wasn't possible as even if they mate, parents from different races were incapable of producing any offspring. This was common sense in this world.
But of course, there arose some exceptions, thanks to the meddling by the Systems.
The lady's mother might have had a secret identity, but Compass Carburettor felt that her father might have had an even more secretive identity.
Think about it. Why would the princess of a Kingdom, that too from the Titan race make a deal with a Demon to change her race into a human, only to be found by a human man that she fell in love with, even ending up having a child successfully?
It would only make sense if one of them happened to be a System Host or something along the lines.
And, Compass Carburettor was able to sense the Personal Fragment within the lady's body, one that possessed the aura of the Titans.
'But the question is, how the heck was a System Slayer able to connect a Personal Fragment to another person?' This was what puzzled him the most.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter all, this wasn't something that was Bestowed upon her like what was done through Secret Society.
The Personal Fragment was truly bonded to her through mysterious means, with the Status of the System Slayer unknown.
There seemed to be a lot of mystery interlocked within her. And worst of all, the concerned person herself seemed unaware of everything.
'Is this my fate?' Compass Carburettor closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath for a moment as he focused upon his Core Skill, feeling his Lore blinking in response.
There was definitely something big hidden in this, and his fate as the Main Character had brought him here. But, whether or not he wished to involve himself in this mess was entirely up to him.
This was where his growth lay. To level up as the Main Character required two things, unlike Systems.
First among them was Coordinates. Coordinates didn't only strengthen his abilities but they also formed the vessel in him that allowed him to store more Mental Energy and also use that as the foundation to level up.
If he didn't have enough Coordinates in him, then irrespective of the Mental Energy he accumulated, he wouldn't level up.
And second, was the Mental Energy that he earned from acting as the Main Character. Meaning, doing things that the Main Character typically does.
He could still level up though using the Mental Energy he could gain through conventional means. It was just that the level-up efficiency was low.
