"What…just happened?" Sahar Khara stared incredulously from within the cave that he created when he was sent flying. Through the gap, he stared at the sky, observing the embers floating there dissipate slowly as the fire dragon vanished.
It just didn't make sense, for the fire dragon seemed like something he had created when in truth, it was unleashed by Teto.
'How did he unleash an attack that seemed like mine?' Frowning in response, Sahar Khara exited the cave, uninjured, but was more cautious now.
He observed Teto, probing into the strength of the other party, 'He's only a Grandmaster Metal Mage. Then, how did he do that?'
He then recalled the gun that had appeared in Teto's hand, muttering slowly, "You…what kind of Pseudo-Relic is that?"
"I've never heard of such a weird Pseudo-Relic."
'You've truly concealed yourself well, Teto.' Horan stared at the figure of Teto, his eyes glinting dangerously for a moment before all related thoughts vanished. For a moment, he stared blankly, alarmed as his eyes blinked in a hurry, 'What the heck was I doing? Why am I standing in a daze during the middle of a battle?'
"What…just happened?" Suddenly, Sahar Khara muttered in confusion, looking around as he noticed the burning hill nearby, unable to understand just what had happened.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe then gazed at the three individuals on the ground, asking in confusion, "You there! What happened here?"
"Wait, you're asking us that?" Gehera was confused, failing to make sense of the situation.
The Saint that had been attacking them all along now acted as if he was oblivious to everything. And that wasn't all, Horan too seemed to be behaving similarly, acting as if he had forgotten everything that happened recently.
Based on his behaviour, he seemed to have forgotten everything that happened after dodging the Saint's attack at the start.
Compass Carburettor too was alarmed, fearing someone had taken action against them before soon feeling that the situation was somewhat familiar.
Eventually, he sighed, sensing two red-coloured Mental Energy streams on him that vanished as soon as they appeared, understanding what had happened.
The cause for this strangeness was himself.
This was the power he inherited from Domino Plottopia. It didn't make sense at the start because of the intricacy of the power.
The power was a derivative of Secret Society's secretive nature, but now, the effect was limited to him.
Basically, anyone that harboured evil intentions toward him would forget everything related to him. And depending on the extent of their evil intention, the degree of memory wipeout would vary.
The moment he came to realise that Teto had a precious Pseudo-Relic, Horan harboured evil intentions toward him. But immediately after, he curbed his greed. And hence, his evil intention was pretty weak, only resulting in his recent memory being wiped out.
If his evil intention had been potent enough, then he would have forgotten about Teto by now and everything that happened between them.
The Saint too seemed to have been affected by the same. At the start, the Saint didn't have any evil intentions toward the three.
After all, due to their sheer power difference, it was like swatting a group of flies for the Saint. Hence, he had attacked casually.
But once the fire dragon attacked him, he took his opponents seriously, thinking of ways to kill them. As his evil intention toward Teto became strong enough, all his memory of the fight had been wiped out.
In the Secret Society, any members whose loyalty dropped below 10 would have their memories of everything regarding the Secret Society wiped out.
And in the future, if their loyalty crossed 10 due to a variety of reasons, they'll recall all the wiped-out memories.
His power worked the same but in terms of evil intentions. And, the reason Compass Carburettor couldn't make sense of this was that the ability of memory wipeout worked by harnessing the power of his Lore.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMeaning, all information, whether in the mind of someone, written forms, inscribed, forms, etc. would be wiped out once the conditions were met.
And, this worked passively. Therefore, it was dangerous. If Compass Carburettor was careless, even Stencil might be implicated if she played with him without this knowledge. She only needed to think of harming him casually to have parts of her memories erased.
And, as this was erased using the Main Character's power, it could only be restored using the Main Character's power. No System Skill would be able to circumvent it.
As the core of the Main Character, Compass Carburettor had inherited the powers of the other three Main Characters. And in the future, he would inherit the powers of more Main Characters that he creates using the power of Lore.
So, he had to be careful in their creation. Even though the power derived from Domino Plottopia ensured that his existence remained secretive to his enemies, if he wasn't careful about it, he would be forgotten by his allies and everyone else, which was detrimental—to spread the effects of Lore.
Moreover, to a certain extent, his power worked the same as the Systems. After all, a large part of the Main Character System was in him now, meaning that he was able to use the revival means that other Systems had used.
Anyone that thinks of the Main Character might see a small imprint of himself in their mind. And, over time, this imprint could grow enough to take over their bodies and birth another Main Character on its own.
So, having memories of him erased from the minds of others contradicted this to a certain extent.
'Though, I guess it also ensures a layer of safety, since those with evil intentions wouldn't be able to take advantage of these Main Character fragments in their minds.' He thought, sighing once he cleared up his understanding of his powers.
Since the Fantasy World had Relics that could siphon the Systems growing in the minds of people to be used as fuel, he didn't want the Main Character System to be used for the same. That would only slow down his growth.
Now that he understood everything, Compass Carburettor put on an expression of confusion, shouting at the Saint, "My Lord! I can't understand what is happening here, but for some reason, you had been attacking that hill in all seriousness. But, something suddenly hit you and sent you flying into the hill itself. And once you came out, you became like this."
