"Tehela, I received information about a brand-new ruin. It's a Lizardmen Kingdom that collapsed mysteriously 800 years ago." Regriel burst into a house, stating excitedly, "I formed a team to explore it…"
"Hold your horses, old man!" Tehela snorted as she grabbed Regriel by the scruff of his collar, stopping his rushing figure as she dragged him back, "You're a freaking Cartographer! You're just rushing into your doom by visiting a ruin."
"I'm a Pseudo-Saint though." Regriel tilted his head, "You know that the strongest that are active in the world are only Pseudo-Saints."
"Yeah, but even a Novice Mage can wipe the floor with you. You're damn weak." Tehela retorted, unwilling to loosen her hold over him.
"Two Grandmaster Wind Mages are accompanying our party. So, we'll be fine." Regriel protested in response, "We also have four Master Warriors to protect the group. So, nothing will happen to us."
"Then, I'll accompany you." Tehela said in anger, "With me around, even if something happens, I can escape with you…"
"No!" Regriel raised his voice, startling her.
"Mom…Dad…is something the issue?" An immature voice resounded as the door to the living room opened as a child walked in, donned in her sleeping wear, rubbing her eyes as she gazed their way.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"You stay here…" Tehela whispered in his eyes before picking her daughter up, patting her back until she fell asleep. After placing her on the bed, Tehela awaited a bit to ensure that she wouldn't get up before returning to the living room, watching Regriel seated there, calmly sipping some coffee.
"We'll…talk tomorrow. There's still time." Regriel said, expressing that he didn't have the mood for an argument now.
"Alright, take care of the house." Tehela said, donning an overcoat as she grabbed a bag and her purse, exiting the house, "I need to purchase some groceries."
"Take your time," Regriel said, hearing the door close as Tehela made her way to the market.
There was a stillness to the house due to the lack of noise as Regriel continued to sit in the same place, his expression conflicted, muttering slowly, "Did I…do the right thing back then?"
Sighing, he set the coffee mug on the nearby table before making his way into the bedroom, staring at the sleeping face of his daughter, Gehera.
It had been eight years since he and Gehera escaped the Ruin of Amagoth. Eventually, they married and had a kid.
But, this was where things deviated from the plan.
Originally, after they mated, once a child began to grow in Tehela's womb, he would fall sick as his Shaman powers would gradually flow into the child. Thanks to the Totem System, they had been retained in his bloodline until now, moving into the child through his seed.
Eventually, he would die once their child was birthed. And this was where their plan began, for he would reincarnate as his child, inheriting traits from both parents.
Tehela wasn't aware of this, but her Relic System was actually created by Slayer and given to her. And the goal of this System was simply to pass on the powers of her bloodline to her child.
This way, her child would inherit the profession of Immortal, preventing her from dying after gaining the powers of the Shaman King too. The two Systems would fuse to result in that.
After being born, Gobugobumon would become the Shaman King once again, but this time, he wouldn't die after a century, thanks to the power of the Immortal profession keeping him alive. And, once he becomes an adult, Slayer would come to visit him.
But, this was where things deviated from the plan.
Originally, as the Shaman King, Gobugobumon didn't have much of an emotion or even purpose. After all, he was aware that everything he did was futile. At least, if there was a possibility that the evolved Goblins would retain their evolution even after his death, his life would have meaning.
But unfortunately, even Goblin Lords would regress into mere Goblins immediately after his death. Meaning that, no matter what he did, nothing would change.
This was why the Shaman King just aimlessly wished to increase the number of Goblins by attacking the other Kingdoms and knocking up as many women from other races as possible, aware that whatever he did, nothing would change in the end.
As Goblins didn't even care about one another, the level of emotions the Shaman King could feel was low, too basic to even care about. This was why he was pretty enthusiastic about Slayer's plan.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBut, once he wholeheartedly become a Human, he was able to feel myriad emotions, at a deeper, stronger level. Moreover, as a Cartographer, due to his talents and insight into things as the Shaman King, he was able to delve deeper into the knowledge of the world or any item.
Even if he grabbed hold of a sword, he was able to inherit information about the Blacksmith that had hammered the sword nonstop, the people that had wielded it, transported it, peddled it, etc.
So, since he was able to inherit so much information even from simple items, what of the System that was growing in Tehela's womb, the fusion of the Relic System and the Totem System?
Moreover, his child.
As a human, when he inherited information regarding his child, for some reason, his heart ached as he was able to sense the life growing in her tiny body. It was when a certain thought resounded in his mind, 'Do I have to replace my child?'
He shuddered, abhorring the thought, unable to digest it as he was somehow…repulsed by the notion, something a Goblin wouldn't ever think about.
It didn't even take much thinking after that as Regriel simply let go, severing his chances of reincarnation as he watched his child growing step by step in his wife's womb before eventually being birthed.
Staring at the tiny baby that Tehela placed in his hands, he had been overwhelmed by emotions at that time, feeling that he had made the right choice. After all, for the first time since he had been born, he felt the most fulfilling.
"This life has meaning." Now, staring at the sleeping figure of his six-year-old daughter, Regriel patted her forehead gently, sensing the Personal Fragment that was growing in Gehera's body.
He had destroyed the System's mind, and turned it into a Relic, ensuring it became her Personal Fragment. Following that, he sealed it, unwilling for Slayer to find her. After all, his objectives had changed.
