Introducing Mors
Kathe boasted about Mors.
“Mors is the son of the water dragon, Grand Chamberlain Morris and is Leea’s chamberlain.”
“Indeed! That means you are part of the royal family.”
“While I am, I’m still just a chamberlain. Please treat me like you would any other water dragon.”
“That’s easy to say, but...”
“No, please.”
Due to Mors’s strong will, it was decided that he would not be treated as royalty.
That being said, he was still an important guest. And so he was treated very respectfully.
Still, not treating him as royalty made a lot of things easier.
I had done something similar when introducing Kathe to the chiefs.
It would help both Mors and the beastkin.
“Mors isn’t just part of the royal family. He’s also an expert in barrier magic! Leea said so.”
“That’s very encouraging. Thank you so much...for coming here to help us beastkin.”
Danton bowed his head.

He seemed genuinely worried.
As Mors was incredibly strong, his absence meant the weakening of their fighting force.
And while the water dragon settlement was currently peaceful, they couldn’t let their guard down.
I had been worried as well. That’s why I was planning on going to them myself.
However, Mors replied quickly.
“Of course. But if I can be of service to Mister Locke and the beastkin wolves, then we water dragons would be very happy.”
Kathe heard this and nodded before saying, “Leea too. She wanted you and Serulis, Shia, and Nia to come and visit.”
“That’s kind of her.”
“So you must go and visit her soon.”
“Very well. We will go when we have the time.”
“You should. And I will go with you when the time comes.”
It was an honor that Leea wanted to meet us.
Next time, I would take Leea’s friends, Serulis, Shia and Nia and some gifts and go meet her.
Leea would also be happy if I brought Grulf and Lord Gerberga with us.
There would probably be time between jobs here, where we could go and visit the water dragons.
I thought this while Kathe sipped her tea and said, “She wanted you to go there at first, but then I explained about the beastkin wolves. And so she agreed to send Mors.”
“Ah, perhaps it’s because she feels indebted to the beastkin.”
Kathe nodded at this.
“That is right. We dragons have a strong sense of duty.”
The beastkin wolves had fought against the dark ones who attacked the water dragon settlement.
And Leea had promised to help them in return if they were ever in need.
And she had done just that. Her actions were very commendable.
“Still, I am worried about the water dragons. Maybe I should speak to Eric and Goran about it.”
As long as Kathe was here, I could reach the water dragon settlement in half an hour.
But even then, I would rest easier if Eric and Goran knew about this.
However, Kathe said something unexpected.
“There is no need for that.”
“Really? Why is that?”
“Because...”
—Knock-knock-knock.
Kathe was interrupted by a knock on the door.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIt was the chiefs. They had come to greet Mors.
I wanted to hear what Kathe was going to say, but it would have to be later.
“Thank you so much for coming to our beastkin settlement.”
“Thank you for having me. I am called Mors.”
I introduced Mors to the chiefs along with Danton and Kathe.
They all knew Mors as one of the water dragon warriors who had fought against the dark ones.
And so there was mutual respect and they became friendly very quickly.
When that was finished, Danton and I took Mors away.
We would introduce him to the other members including the children.
“Children. Gather around.”
“Oh, Mister Locke. What is it?”
The children said as they gathered around.
“This man is Mors. He’s a water dragon.”
“Nice to meet you, Mors.”
“Hello!”
“You have a fat tail!”
They seemed to like him.
Dinner was ready by the time he had been introduced to everyone.
And so we had a feast that night that was also a welcoming party for Mors.
