Kyran could not help but frown at Osric's behavior. Kyran took the initiative to show himself, but Osric did not seem hell-bent on making the first move.

From the latter's attempt at an idle chat, it was apparent he was buying some time, and as to why he would do that, Kyran had not figured it out yet.

At the moment, Kyran did not sense any odd movements from the mages standing behind Osric. There was not even a trace of ill intent from them. It was as if they had given up their free will and resolved to follow Osric's lead no matter what.

Kyran's frown deepened as a thought crossed his mind. Could it be that their lack of ill intent had something to do with what they were planning? Regardless of the truth, he had a bad feeling about it.

"Cat got your tongue, new Dark Sage?" Osric asked with a sneer.

Kyran ignored him as he observed all the mages behind Osric. However, no matter how strong his magic sense was, he still could not find anything strange about their aura besides their lack of ill intent.

On the other hand, Osric was also observing Kyran. Just as he said, he believed the latter came out for a reason. If Osric guessed it correctly, Kyran probably figured something was off after they stopped advancing. Osric diverted Kyran's doubts by pointing out it was pointless to attack now that the tower's defensive array had been restored. He did not know if Kyran had bought his excuse, but it did not matter much.

What mattered to him was to ensure Kyran did not make a move while they executed their plan.

In Ravenpass, True Void had finally found where most Regis clan members were.

They were mainly gathered at the largest building near the center of Ravenpass.

All of them were lying motionless on the floor.

If others were to see them and had no idea what the Macabre Glacier could do, they would have thought they were already dead. However, True Void knew better.

They could be considered empty shells because the Macabre Glacier had taken all their souls.

True Void could not help but frown inwardly as he looked at all the bodies on the floor. His reaction was quite reasonable because he only saw a few with dark hair.

Of course, True Void knew that the Regis Clan did not necessarily consist of dark hair and dark gray-eyed members. Only those from the Regis Family possessed these traits. Most of their clan members had different hair and eye colors. Thus, they could be called a clan member but not a 'family' member.

Anyway, that was not the point right now.

What got True Void thinking was the number of people on the floor.

'They don't match,' he thought while recalling the sheer number of cocoons reflected on the Macabre Glacier.

'Why don't they match?'

Though it did not sound good, True Void would rather see the same number of bodies on the floor. Because if there was no body here, then it meant some of the cocoons no longer had a body. If that was the case, then it meant they would not have a body to return to once they leave the Macabre Glacier.

True Void was afraid that those people were from the Regis Clan. If that happened, how would Kyran take it?

'It's not only Void Halfling,' True Void reasoned to himself with a slight shake of his head. 'There's also his father and grandfather.'

He suddenly felt an incoming headache from all of this.

'I need to find the rest,' True Void decided. In any case, he only looked into this building. He had not explored the whole Ravenpass yet.

With that in mind, he flew out of the building and continued to explore the place.

Alas, if True Void had not been worried, he would have noticed that when he left the building, several red-colored eyes opened from the dark corner of the building.

Meanwhile, the Aron and the rest of the Regis Special Forces had already taken the upper hand against the enemy mages. After Jared activated his array, it had been easy for them to subdue all those who were within its range.

As for those who were out of the array's range, Tritus took care of them.

Aron, who went with Tritus, did not even have the chance to do anything because the latter was more than eager to showcase his might.

Not that Aron was complaining. Compared to his mage level, Tritus had a much higher level than him.

Of course, that did not mean Aron was weaker.

As a matter of fact, Aron was likely able to keep up with Tritus because he possessed the Regis Blessing.

Obviously this was only a passing thought because they were on the same side.

As for Tritus, he was ecstatic to be able to fight to his heart's content. Although the enemy mages no longer pose a threat to him, fighting them has helped him get familiar with his newfound strength.

"How are the evacuation of the Courtenay and the Lumley family members?" Aron asked, directing his question to anyone listening to their communication channel.

Inside the Ancestral Hall, as soon as Eleanor, one of the Regis Elders, heard Aron's question she surveyed the whole room and replied, "We have at most evacuated 70% of their members."

"And the wounded? How are they?"

"We've applied first aid to most of them. But there are those with critical injuries, and we can only alleviate their pain. They need to get them proper healing aid."

Aron could not help but frown after hearing Eleanor. To be honest, it was not that their medic was not competent enough to heal all the wounded of the Courtenay and Lumley families but that their condition was too severe for them to handle with little items on hand.

"We almost did not make it," Aron said with a sigh. "Do we have any update from Noser? If the battle there has not ended, we can split into two groups. One will escort all the wounded while the rest will go to the Tower of Conclave."

"There is still no update from our people in Noser," Eleanor replied. Then she paused momentarily before adding, "I can lead the group going to Noser."

Aron nodded in agreement, "Alright."

He then switched his channel and connected with all the squad leaders of the Special Forces.

"How are things over at your end?"

Once again, he did not direct the question at anyone in particular.

"There are still more of them coming from the north side. I'm not sure where they are actually coming from."

One of the leaders leading the attack on the north side of the ancestral hall reported.

"Same here in the south."

Another responded.

"I don't know why, but I don't think their numbers are decreasing. It even feels as if there are more coming."

Aron frowned slightly as he looked at the south side before turning toward the north. His eyes glowed silver, and his pupils turned to slits as he activated the Regis Blessing. After that, he roused his magic, and his magic sense erupted.

In over a few seconds, his magic sense had covered the whole ancestral hall's premise. He tried to find traces of a transmission array using his magic sense.

"I did not find anything."

Jared's voice suddenly sounded through the communication device.

Aron's frown deepened, "Are you sure?"

"Yes," Jared replied. Then he added in concern, "But I do notice something very troubling."

"What is it?"

"These guys... or at least, the new ones... does not seem to be reacting much to pain."

"What do you mean?"

Although Aron asked the question, he already had an inkling. And it was not a good one.

"Err..."

Before Jared could sort his thoughts and explain what he noticed, Raya's voice cut through the conversation.

"Patriarch, Master Jared, I don't think the most troubling part is their lack of reaction to pain. You know what my magic is, right? So far, I can sense a strange fluctuation in their bodies that is somewhat similar to my magic and yet different."

Aron and Jared fell silent. They knew that Memory magic was said to have been branched out from Soul magic. If what Raya was saying was true, then it meant the enemies were being influenced by Soul magic.

To be honest, both of them did not think the enemies being influenced by Soul magic was strange. They were under the Soul Emperor's banner, after all. It would not be strange if she planted a mark on them to keep tabs on their movements.

However, if the Soul Emperor cast a Soul spell on them... that would be an entirely different matter.

A frightening thought suddenly crossed Aron's mind, and his eyes widened. However, before he could say anything, a loud explosion interrupted all of them.

BOOM!

The explosion occurred on the west side of the ancestral hall.
