CHAPTER 94 LUKE The sound of my phone vibrating against the bed joltedfrom my thoughts. I had just stepped out of the shower, the steam still curling in the corners of the bathroom. I grabbed a towel, wrapping it around my waist as I strode toward the phone, swiping it up without chec "Josh? What's going on?" I asked. I've been seeing Josh every day and every day I have to fight the urge to ask about Jess because it's none of my business.
"Luke, I-I don't know what to do, man, fuck, she won't stop," Josh's voice was frantic, strained. I could hear the panic bleeding through the phone, making my heart kick into a higher gear.
"What do you mean? What's happening?" I demanded, already yanking on a pair of shorts, adrenaline spiking through my veins. Something was wrong.
"Just-just get over here. Now," Josh's voice was tight, barely holding it together.
Without another word, I threw the phone down, not bothering to grab a shirt, and bolted out of my place, the cool night air slapping against my bare chest as I sprinted across the yard to their house.

"I'll take care of it," I said, my voice firm, even though my insides were twisted into knots.
Josh released his grip, and I took the stairs two at a time, the sound of Jess's cries growing louder, more tortured with every step.
Jess was thrashing on her bed, her sheets twisted around her legs, a glint of sweat covering her skin. Her face was contorted in fear, her breath coming in short, desperate gasps. I hated seeing her like this.
I crossed the room in two strides, kneeling beside her bed.

"Jess, it's okay. You're safe," I said, louder this time, reaching out to gently touch her arm. But she flinched away, her body trembling.

She moaned again, a soft, broken sound that made my stomach twist. And then she said it, so softly I almost missed it. But I heard it. She called my name. "Luke..."
It was barely a whisper, a fragile plea that shattered whatever resolve I had left. I leaned closer, brushing the damp hair away from her forehead. "I'm here, Jess. I'm right here," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. She whimpered again, her body slowly beginning to still under my touch. I kept talking to her, my voice a steady, soothing murmur as I ran my hand gently through her hair, trying to coax her out of the nightmare.
"It's okay. I've got you," I repeated over and over until finally, her m breathing began to slow, the tension in her body easing as she drifted out of the nightmare's grasp. When she looked calm, I pulled away and stood next to her, watching to make sure she was sleeping now but then she CHAPTER 94 1288 Wouchers started moaning again.
"Shit," I breathed and without thinking, I lifted the sheets off her clammy body and slid in next to her, pulling her to me. Her body curled around mine immediately, her head resting on my chest and I could feel her breathing slowdown again, her heart beat becoming fainter a "I'm right here," whispered into her hair....
