164 Let’s spar!

Crash

Someone flew in the air and crashed to the wall.

“....”

The person was a little bit familiar to Kairen.

“R-Reyan?”

Kairen stood at the door, not knowing what was going on.

“Gah!”

Reyan raised his head and looked at his opponent while leaning on his sword, not noticing that Kairen was looking at him with a panicked face.

“You said to fight you seriously!”

.....

After hearing the familiar voice, Kairen turned to look at Reyan’s opponent. He could see Alan standing on the other side of the hall while holding one dagger in each hand.

“....”

Alan glanced at Kairen for a second before turning to Reyan again.

“Once more!”

Reyan dusted his clothes and held his sword with both hands.

“You sure?”

Nod

Reyan nodded with a serious face.

‘What? They were sparing?’

Kairen didn’t see the two of them in the hall this morning so he saw that they must be busy with something, but they have been training here all the time?

Kairen looked between Reyan that was ready to attack and Alan who was playing with his daggers and took one step forward.

“Um... Passing through...”

Saying that Kairen raised both arms and ran to the other end of the training ground.

“....”

“....”

Reyan and Alan glanced at him once before turning to face each other again.

“Come!”

Alan gestured at Reyan to attack him.

Fixing his posture, Reyan poured aura into his sword. The golden aura wrapped around the sword completely and started to fluctuate.

“Huaap!”

With a small yell, Reyan started to run towards Alan. On the other side, Alan seemed completely unaffected by the fact that a swordsman was running towards him with an aura-wrapped sword.

TAK

Strengthening his muscles with aura, Reyan kicked the ground and jumped up to the air, raising his sword above his head. The aura that was wrapped around his sword got thicker and shone even more at the same time.

“AAHH!”

He moved his sword down with a yell. Kairen could feel the air in the training ground shake for a moment when Reyan moved that huge amount of aura. As the amount of aura he used was more than what the sword could contain, some small bits of the aura got separated from the sword and were shot everywhere around him, damaging the surroundings.

“....”

Alan looked at the sword that was moving towards him with a calm and uninterested face. It was then...

“!!!”

The golden light faded and the aura around Reyan’s sword vanished.

“Ah!?”

Before he could do anything, Reyan fell to the ground as the aura strengthening his muscles vanished as well.

BAMM

Kairen frowned after seeing Reyan hit the ground hard with his face and moved a few steps back.

‘The cuts are gone...’

As Kairen looked around, he could see that the damage dealt by Reyan’s aura to the surrounding had completely vanished as if nothing had happened from the start.

“Argh!”

Reyan raised his head and sat down on the ground.

Drip Drip

Blood dripped down to the ground from his face.

“Sniff! Sniifff!”

He wiped his bloody nose and stared at Alan with a dejected face.

“What?”

Reyan pointed at the daggers in Alan’s hands.

“Why do you hold those if you won’t let me get close to you?”

Alan looked at the daggers in his hands and raised his brows as if he was mocking Reyan.

“Just in case?”

“....”

Reyan ignored Alan’s sneer and pointed at his nose.

“Can’t you do something about this?”

Alan raised his eyebrows even more.

“Go ask that healer girl!”

Alan shrugged and walked away from Reyan. After watching his back for a moment, Reyan turned his head to look at Kairen.

“Why are you here?”

“I was called by captain Neal.”

Kairen walked closer and handed Reyan a tissue.

“I see-”

Reyan grabbed the tissue and wiped the blood off his face.

“Hey! You brat!”

Alan interrupted their conversation.

“Come spar with me!”

“....”

“....”

Alan pointed at Kairen with his dagger and yelled again.

“Come! I want to test that famous power of yours! Hurry!”

“....”

“....”

Kairen looked between Alan and Reyan.

“But aren’t you two-”

“Nah! It’s not fun to beat that brat again after I’ve done it 34 times in a row.”

“....”

Kairen at Reyan. Reyan avoid Kairen’s gaze with a face that showed how trampled his pride was and coughed.

“Ahem! I am tired actually.”

.....

Kairen did his best not to laugh and nodded at Alan.

“...Um... Okay.”

Kairen had always been curious about Alan and his power. He tried a lot to find out about him and still wanted to know more, so why would he declare such an offer to see his power in action?

Reyan looked between Kairen and Alan with a gloomy... and bloody face.

“Move!”

Alan gestured at Reyan to move aside.

“....”

Reyan looked between Kairen and Alan with a face that showed have dissatisfied he was with the current situation but without saying anything, Reyan picked up his sword and walked to where Kairen was standing when he was sparring with Alan. Kairen on the other hand walked to where Reyan was sitting a few seconds ago.

“How are we supposed to spar?”

Alan grabbed the daggers toughly.

“Attack me as if I’m an enemy.”

“... Okay.”

Kairen didn’t have the chance to train after he came back from the Frozen Ocean, so he was quite excited to finally be able to use his mana after a while.

Also, there were other things that he was excited about. Like using the things he had learned after reading the book captain Neal had given him or casting some new spells that he came across while searching the books in the library.

‘This isn’t a real fight, also Alan wouldn’t get hurt as he will just cancel my spells so I can test them out without a worry.’

Thinking that way, Kairen moved his mana and started to cast the spell he wanted to test the most.

The spell that he wanted to cast was what he found in an old book related to religions. It was a mixed spell that was said to fend off evil souls and such stuff. It was mostly used in ceremonies only for entertainment in the past. ????????nr????????d. ????????????

It was a double-spell magic attack, meaning that two people were needed to cast one part of it and then the spells would get mixed. As the spells were related to old times, they were not that complicated to cast both at the same time and Kairen didn’t need any help.

Shiny symbols appeared all around Kairen as he started to cast his spell. It didn’t take long for the spell to be completed and he released it as soon as he was done.

SHHHH

ZZZZZ

Rose gold flames flared in his right hand and white lightning bolts roared in his left hand.

Clap

Kairen then clapped his hands.

WIZZZZ

The fire and lightning whirled around each other before both of them got mixed and were shot like a laser towards Alan.

“....”

Looking at the spell moving towards him, Alan gradually started to frown.

“Huuu!”

He took a deep breath and clenched his daggers toughly while staring at the fire and lightning moving towards him.

‘The mana is being pushed back slightly!’

Kairen could feel his mana slightly being pushed back, but that was all. Nothing else happened to his spell and it kept approaching Alan.

‘Why isn’t he doing something?’

Alan was just standing there and staring at the spell with a deep frown on his face.

And then-

BAAANGGG

The spell hit the place where Alan was standing.

“H-hey!”

Kairen was about to run to where Alan was before stopping after hearing him swear.

“FUCK!”

Alan was sprawled on the ground right beside where the spell landed. It seemed like he dodged the attack just before it hit him.

“What are you doing?”

Kairen approached Alan while looking at the destroyed floor.

“Why didn’t you use your-”

Kairen had to stop walking and jump back as a dagger was thrown to his face.

“W-what?!”

The next second, he saw Alan rushing at him with the other dagger in his hand.

Barrier

A transparent barrier appeared between Kairen and Alan, providing Kairen the time to move back.

‘Is he carrying on the spar? Oh, okay.’

As soon as he took some distance from Alan, Kairen cast another spell. The wind started to swirl and condensed in countless spots before numerous wind blades took form in the air.

Swosh Swosh Swosh

Kairen shot the wind blades towards Alan all at once.

BAANNGG

Contrary to Kairen’s expectations, the wind blades didn’t stop moving and hit the ground and the walls, creating small and large cuts here and there.

‘Why isn’t he canceling the spell?’

Kairen could see Alan dodging the blades with difficulty while glaring at him with a scary face.

Alan dodged the wind blades that were about to cut him into pieces, but there were still a lot more wind blades that were moving towards him.

“Shit!”

When Kairen was wondering if there was a problem with Alan and that he had to somehow stop the wind blades or maybe create a shield for him, suddenly Alan disappeared from sight.

“...!?”

The next second, Kairen sensed something cold graze his cheek.
