“.....”
“.....”
The unit members silently listened to Kairen’s explanations. They all nodded their heads with blank faces after he was done saying his words.
‘But it’s an interesting idea.’
To worship such a thing instead of the god. Kairen really wanted to know where and how that idea came from. Was that man the one who told the people about it? Was he like an apostle or something?
“Tsk!”
Alan clicked his tongue and walked away with a complicated face. No one cared about him at all and all looked between the carvings on the pillar and Kairen.
“What about these temples? Did you find anything about them?”
Kairen shook his head.
.....
“No. There were only a few books about that religion among the books I’ve read and those few books had little information so this is the only thing I found.”
It was a shame, but that was the only thing he had found after spending days in the library. Of course, there was some other stuff, but none of them seemed important.
“I didn’t get it but that sounded cool.”
Said Asa while nodding with a blank face.
“What a strange religion.”
“How come we have never heard about such a religion before?”
“I know right? It was around for 500 years, but there is nothing about it that people know.”
“I had heard about cause and effect before, but cause and result? What is that?”
“I know right? It doesn’t sound right.”
The unit members started to chatter as they walked around and looked at different carvings in the yard and on the pillars.
‘It is strange...’
Standing still in front of the first pillar, Kairen looked around while biting his lips.
‘I have the same feeling as back then...’
From the first moment they stepped foot into this temple, Kairen felt the strange and ominous feeling he would sense when something dangerous was going to happen. However, unlike the previous times when he would suddenly be overwhelmed by that feeling, this time it was not that intense. It was weak but was getting stronger little by little.
‘Why should I suffer alone like this? Isn’t this enough? I’m tired of being special already!’
Kairen nagged inwardly.
‘Should I cast some shields?’
He already had a few defensive spells prepared, but Kairen doubted if he had to use them or would he be wasting his mana if he casts them now. Also, the unit members were all scattered here and there, there was no way he could cast a shield big and strong enough around all of them when he didn’t even know where the attack was going to come from.
“Kairen, why are you standing there?”
“Ah?”
Kairen snapped out of his thoughts and turned towards deputy team leader Bray who was calling him. She was standing on top of the stairs that were leading to the inside of the temple and waving at Kairen.
“We are heading inside, so come here.”
“Ah! Alright!”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKairen glanced at the surroundings one last time before walking to where the others were. Everyone was gathered in front of the entrance of the main building. As soon as they saw Kairen finally join them, they started to walk inside.
“Whoa!”
Asa’s jaw dropped as soon as she stepped inside the building.
“Oh my!”
Even the deputy team leader Bray couldn’t hide her surprise.
‘What is so amazing there?’
Kairen found his answer as soon as he entered the building.
“Wow!”
He looked at the inside of the temple with his mouth wide open.
“Beautiful...”
The inside of the temple was completely opposite to the outside. If the outside was shiny and bright like the day, the inside was like the night. No, it was really the night.
The walls, the ceiling, the floor, everywhere they looked was black. It was completely black. There was not even a single window as everything was just... dark.
But there was still light inside. The light was being emanated from the tiny star-like dots that the whole place was adorned with.
“It is like the night sky...”
Captain Neal mumbled under her lips.
It truly looked like the night sky. It was beautiful and amazing.
They all stood there and looked around with amazement, except Kairen.
‘I feel dizzy...’
Kairen opened and closed his eyes and grabbed the wall. He didn’t want to make a scene by suddenly falling down.
‘Why am I the only one who is so helpless in all of the missions?’
It was truelly embaressing. Kairen either got beaten or somehow became sick in his missions. Kairen swallowed a sigh and looked forward again.
“Let’s go...”
Said team leader Dains as he walked inside in the dark but bright temple.
The others followed him and walked further into the temple. After passing the main hall, they finally arrived at the worship room.
The heptagon-shaped room was located at the end of the temple. The room looked like the rest of the temple except for one thing, in the middle of the ceiling of the room, there was a big shiny object.
“It looks like the moon...”
There was a big sphere in the middle of the dark ceiling that one would say resembled the moon in the night sky at the first glance.
There was a hole in the middle of the sphere and a ray of sunlight was entering through it, illuminating the room. Then, right below the hole in the sky, there was a platform-like structure that was also heptagon-shaped.
“This place sure is amazing.”
“I doubt we will find anything in a place like this. Here is a historical site where travelers keep visiting...”
The unit members stood at the entrance of the room and looked inside with amazement.
Well again, except Kairen.
“Wait!”
Before anyone could pass the entrance, Kairen yelled loudly, making them halt and turn to him.
Kairen hurriedly grabbed Reyan’s hand and pulled him back and approached the team leader. He could see team leader Dains tilt his head.
“What do you mean by that, Kairen?”
Kairen stopped in front of the team leader.
“Something isn’t right!”
“....”
Team leader Dains frowned upon seeing the pale boy that was looking around with wary eyes.
“What is not right?”
Kairen looked around while biting his lip.
‘This place is dangerous...’
He could feel it all around. A terrifying sensation was coming from inside the worship room. A disgusting smell was oozing out, making Kairen want to vomit.
‘Is a monster going to pop up again? Or is something going to explode?’
Kairen cast his shields around everybody.
“Shield?”
“What are you doing?”
Kairen didn’t care about the confused people and only stared at the worship room.
.....
‘I feel dizzy...’
Kairen shook his head and pointed at the worship room with his hand.
“There... Something...”
But then, he stopped talking all of a sudden.
OONNNGG
‘Ah?’
Kairen stumbled and slumped to the wall.
“Hey!”
Team leader Dains rushed to Kairen and grabbed his shoulders.
OOONNGG
‘What is this?’
Kairen looked up.
‘What is this noise?’
A loud noise was ringing in his ears.
The voice was too loud that Kairen felt that the building was shaking, no maybe he was shaking.
OOONNGG
Lowering his head, Kairen clutched his ears.
“What is wrong?”
“What happened to this brat again?”
“Hey!”

Kairen raised his head and looked at the others. Everyone was looking at him with a shocked face. He could read the ‘What the hell is this dude doing again get your shit together already’ in their faces.
‘I know but why are you looking at me? No, not me! But this voice.’
ONNNGGG
“Gah!”
Kairen gasped and clutched his ears.
“Kairen?”
“Hey, what is wrong? Say something!” i????????????????????d. ????o????
While Kairen was wondering why nobody paid any attention to the noise, he was forced to sit down on the ground by the team leader.
“No, wait! I don’t-”
No one paid any attention to his mumbles.
“Bring him some water!”
“Hey Asa, come here!”
Kairen looked at the others who were hurriedly moving around, not knowing what to do.
“Is this your mana? I told you not to overdo it yesterday!”
“No!”
Kairen frowned and moved one hand away from his ear, pointing at the worship room.
“I’m fine, it’s the voice!”
Kairen could see the confused look on the others’ faces.
“What voice?”
OONNNNGGG
“....”
Kairen pushed away team leader Dains’s hand that was holding him and stood up while supporting his body with the wall. Kairen placed his hand on the room’s entrance and pointed at the room with the other hand.
“Don’t you hear that-”
But then...
BEEPP
Something beeped as soon as Kairen’s fingertips passed the entrance of the worship room.
“Huh?”
BEEEP
Kairen subconsciously moved back his hand and distanced himself from the entrance.
“What was that?”
“Did something happen?”
This time, it seemed like the others had also noticed the strange noise. Everyone turned to look at Kairen at the same time.
“I-I didn’t do anything-”
BEEEEPPP
Something happened at that moment. As the voice rang out again, something started to move inside the worship room.
