264 You Have Me
Bai Qi sat quietly as the Wei couple told him what happened to his father’s company.
In the past, he was too worried about his mother’s condition and had not paid too much attention to what happened in his father’s company. Moreover, he could not understand much about it.
Bai Qi had never thought that his father would have to suffer so much.
Moreover, the person who pushed his father into that debt was someone he knew. That person was supposed to be his father’s friend. But after he pushed his father into debt, he made his father sign an agreement that would make him lose that company forever.
He wondered if his father knew that his friend was tricking him. Perhaps, that was the reason he ended his life?
Otherwise, why would his father leave him and his mother?
His father was so happy to know that he was going to be a father to a baby girl...
Bai Qi could still remember that during his father’s funeral, this person had also attended the funeral and spoke a few consolation words to him.
Then, his mother passed away after giving birth to Xi Xi. Bai Qi was too busy trying to raise his little sister that he no longer paid any attention to his father’s business. After all, it was reported that the company had gone bankrupt.
.....
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe most important matter for him was to survive the world with his sister.
“It seemed that the matter can be a bit complicated as well,” Wei Jun Hao spoke. “Bai Qi, do you want us to continue and investigate?”
Bai Qi had a serious look on his face as he pondered over this question. “Uncle Wei, let me think of this matter first. I’ll tell you when I have made my decision.”
According to Wei Jun Hao, the process might be long and a bit tedious. But his father might get the justice he deserved.
This was a matter that Bai Qi had never thought about before. Therefore, he might have to think of this matter properly.
After spending a few hours with the Wei family, Bai Qi and Zhang Li Xue finally left.
Seeing that Bai Qi seemed to have a lot in his mind, Zhang Li Xue decided to drive back to his apartment.
The house was quiet when they entered. Bai Xi Xi was not at home as Bai Qi had let her stay with Auntie Ji.
Zhang Li Xue closed the door behind her and changed into her slippers.
Just as she stepped into the living room, Zhang Li Xue found that someone had tugged at her arm and pulled her into his embrace.
Zhang Li Xue paused when she felt Bai Qi resting his head on her neck.
She did not know what was going through in his mind right now, but Zhang Li Xue could tell that he was not in the right mind.
The only thing that she could do at this time was to give Bai Qi a hug and hope that he would know that whatever he decided to do next, she will be by his side.
The couple stood in the center of the room without saying a word.
After a while, Bai Qi finally moved. He pulled away from her and saw the concerned look on her face.
“Are you alright?” Zhang Li Xue asked.
“I’m fine.” A faint smile curled on his lips.
Zhang Li Xue stared at his face for a few seconds longer. A thought came to her mind and she held both his hands and squeezed them. She led him to the sofa and let him sit down. “Sit here for a while.”
Bai Qi did not have the chance to say anything. Before he know it, Zhang Li Xue had already disappeared into the kitchen.
A helpless sigh escaped him. Before he could figure out what she was up to, Zhang Li Xue returned to his side with a glass of water.
“Drink some water. You’ll feel a lot better after this.”
Bai Qi chuckled. He took the glass from her and took a sip. Then, he pulled her over to his side and let her sit with him. “Li Xue, thank you.”
“Have you decided what you want to do next?”
“I don’t know. Uncle Wei said that the process might take a long time and I might have to return to S Country for some legal procedure. It’s just that... I’m not sure if I’m ready to return to that place again.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIn his mind, he did not have a lot of good memories in S Country.
He lost his family members in that country.
After he left with his sister, Bai Qi had no intention of returning to that place. But now, he was not so sure...
Zhang Li Xue cupped her hands around his cheek. Her touch snapped him out of his thought, forcing him to look at her.
“If it’s bothering you too much, then, stop thinking about it,” Zhang Li Xue said. “Anyway, my uncle also said that you can take time to think of everything slowly. We’re not in a rush.”
Bai Qi nodded. “Then, I’ll listen to you.”
“If you need my help with anything, you have to tell me.” Zhang Li Xue looked at him straight in the eyes. “Whatever it is, I promise that I will try to do what I can.”
Zhang Li Xue knew that Bai Qi has been independent after he lost his family. He raised his little sister by himself and got to where he was by working hard alone.
She was worried that Bai Qi would want to shoulder everything by himself.
“In the past, you might have no one to rely on,” Zhang Li Xue continued. “But now, you have me.”
His heart trembled as he listened to her words.
“Bai Qi, I want you to know that you can rely on me.”
His throat bobbed. Bai Qi could not describe his feeling upon hearing her promise. He was already an adult when his parents passed away. No one had told him that he could rely on them.
He wrapped his arms around her body and inched closer to kiss her on the lips.
Bai Qi thought that the most fortunate thing that happened to him was meeting Zhang Li Xue. This thought will never change.
