“You must be Ava’s best friend, Eveline. You’re who she trusts the most, right? Hello, I’m Ava’s mother. I think I’ve
met you before but I never had the chance to formally say hi to you.”
“Me too.” Madeline smiled. Then, she walked to Ava and helped her pick up the glass shards o n the floor.
“Ava, since you’re fine, Jeremy and I will be going back now. You should chat with your mother.”
“Maddie, wait!” Ava suddenly stopped Madeline who was about to turn around and leave.
Madeline turned back curiously. “What else can I do for you, Ava?”
“Um, she’s going back now and she’s staying in Glendale Hotel, which you own. Since it’s on the way to your house,
I wonder if you can send her back?” Ava looked at the woman whose expression had changed. “Sorry for the
trouble, Maddie.”

She clearly did not want to leave yet but Ava did not want her to stay.
Madeline knew that Ava had deep resentment against her parents and she had never gotten over it until now.

not convince herself to forgive those people who had hurt her deeply.
Even though Ava’s mother did not want to leave, she did not want to make Ava upset.
Hence, she smiled at Madeline. “Mr. Whitman, Mrs. Whitman, sorry for the trouble.”
“Not at all. It’s on the way back home.” Madeline smiled and turned around. “Ava, you should sleep early, then. I’ll
see you soon.”
“Alright,” Ava answered as if she could not wait to send her mother away.
Ava’s mother knew Ava did not want to see her, so she could only leave with disappointment.
Actually, there was a car downstairs waiting for Ava’s mother, but in order to know more about Ava, she got into
Jeremy’s car.
Madeline seemed to sense something, so she took the initiative to sit in the backseat.
Jeremy drove them to Glendale Hotel steadily.
Ava’s mother was a very successful woman with a good temperament and manners. After she introduced herself to
Madeline and handed her a business card, she began to ask questions about what she cared about the most.
“Mrs. Whitman, you’re Ava’s best friend, so you should know what her love life is like. She seems unhappy recently
and she’s always on her own. Did she break up with her boyfriend?”
“No, Ava and her boyfriend are doing great. Plus, her boyfriend is an exceptional and responsible man, so you don’t
have to worry.”

“How can there be such a huge enmity between mother and daughter? Plus, with my understanding of Ava, she’s
just hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Just give her more time and I believe that one day, she’ll accept you
again.” Madeline comforted her.
When Ava’s mother heard this, she felt much better. However, she sighed again. “It was indeed our fault back then.
