Chapter 575
"You don't have to worry about it; I'll have Alex handle everything. Mateo will be starting school soon." Selena
didn't overstep or refuse. With Everett's abilities, he could undoubtedly provide the best education for little
Mateo. They chatted about everyday things, like any other couple, which lifted Everett's spirits even more.
Before, he didn't quite grasp how children could bring harmony to a family, but now he felt it deeply. Even if
conversation between him and Selena ran dry, their child served as a bridge. He thought, even if she was
hesitant now, she'd eventually caround. The car pulled into the hospital's underground parking lot. Selena
got out, holding little Mateo, and after a brief pause, she decided to say, "Thanks... drive safely to the office."
Everett looked up at her, a playful grin on his face, and quipped, "I'd much prefer a passionate evening with Mrs.
Bennett-"
What a cheeky devil. Flirting at the most inappropriate times! She regretted her words instantly. Selena's cheeks
flushed with irritation as she shot him a glare and turned away. Watching her graceful figure retreat, Everett's

hand casually on the steering wheel, about to drive off.
But then, he caught a glimpse of a phone left on the back seat. It was Selena's. He chuckled to himself. Still as
forgetful as ever. Swiftly, Everett reversed the car into a spot, grabbed her phone, and headed towards the
elevator.
Inside the elevator, little Mateo wrapped his arms around his mom's neck, his curious eyes wide open. "Mommy,
why do we have to be passionate only at night? Can't we be during the day?" Selena: "............" The blush that
had just subsided crushing back. That man's loose tongue! Taking a deep breath, she quickly changed the
subject. "Little Mateo, Uncle George is having surgery soon. He's really scared, so you need to cheer him on,
okay?" The innocent little guy nodded earnestly, clenching his tiny fist, "I'll cheer for Uncle George!"
Selena kissed her son as the elevator doors dinged open. As she neared the hospital room, Callum, in his white
lab coat, approached. She stopped suddenly. Though Callum still appeared calm and gentle, a closer look
revealed his tired, bloodshot eyes and the stubble on his chin, a clear sign of a sleepless night. Recalling
yesterday's unpleasantness, Selena felt a pang in her chest.
Callum approached and stopped right in front of her. Little Mateo greeted him with a cheerful, "Mr. Callum!" and
he managed a faint smile. Selena knew he was seeking an answer. Sdecisions are best made sooner rather
than later. The more it drags on, the more painful it becomes. Ricky happened to cout, and Selena
entrusted little Mateo to him, then stepped out into the corridor with Callum.
A gentle breeze blew, the warmth of spring in the air. Yet they stood silently side by side. After a long pause,
Callum's raspy voice broke the silence, "Is this... how we end?" He struggled to speak, each word coming out
with effort. He had waited so long, held on for so long; how could he easily let go? Selena lowered her gaze. She
could feel his sorrow, her heart twisting with each beat.
