Chapter 67 It was bad enough that Samantha was often rude to her Aunt Helen... but to do that in front of outsiders, as well? Willow wouldn't allow it.
Helen was a kindly soul, and certainly no gambler. If she wasn't tending the fields, then she'd be in the vegetable garden. She was always hard at work. Playing cards, indeed... Aunt Helen didn't know a single thing about cards! Seeing which way the conversation was going, Samantha's heart was now running out of control! No! Willow was going to say that her children were out playing with Helen! Samantha was about to faint from anxiety.
But Willow only said, "Aunt Helen has gone out. She's not here right now." Next, she said, "Mr Jasper, why don't you have a seat? I'll fetch a cabbage from the garden, and make you scabbage soup." Willow pulled over a chair for him. It was very dusty, and strewn with cobwebs.
Really, why had Jasper been so determined to cin here? Willow had no idea.

Were they going to make fun of her Aunt Helen, too? She thought Samantha was a horrible person. Ever since Willow discovered her cousin's true colors, she'd avoided Samantha. Who knew what else that woman might try to do to her? She was giving Jasper a dirty chair on purpose. Look at him, all clean and fancy, pampered little rich boy... he'd never sit down on this! "You can't seriously mean to serve cabbage soup to a fine gentleman like Mr Jasper! Sir, you're most welcto cover to my place instead! I've been doing well for myself, and now my family lives in a handsmansion, with magnificent marble floors! Meanwhile, these people are still crawling around in the dirt!" Samantha was ready to say anything in order to get Jasper away from Willow.
If she could just get him to chwith her instead, she'd be back in control of the situation...
Jasper looked at the filthy chair he was being offered, and then looked up at Willow. His cold, sharp gaze stabbed her through the heart, like needles.
For sreason, Willow felt her heart flip upside-down in her chest.
"Forget it. I don't expect there's a single thing in this whole village worth eating!" And then Jasper turned to leave.
"Mr Jasper!" Samantha chased after him. "Lettreat you to something, in the city? They have sgood food, there!" "Get lost!" Jasper snapped, without even turning to look at her. He strode over to his car, and got back inside the Rolls-Royce.
It had only been two words, but that harsh scolding caused Samantha to freeze in place, and stop following him. Anyone could see that Jasper was in a very bad mood. If she got in his way now, it could get her into serious trouble.
Anyway, the important thing was that he wouldn't be talking to Willow about what they'd done together, five years ago in the locked shed.
The Rolls-Royce drove away. Samantha turned to go home, feeling good about herself.
Watching from her own doorway, Willow sighed with relief, as well.

Thank goodness he left... because she had no idea how to cook a meal to feed princely man like him!

Up ahead, an elderly woman was holding hands with two little girls, and they were heading this way.
The road was too narrow to simply drive past them, so Tyson stopped the car to let them pass.
