Chapter 225
Chapter 0225
Candice tightened her grip on the phone. “I’m going out to take a call.”
She walked out of the villa with the phone still ringing. It was a call coming from Noxville, an unfamiliar
number, but Candice could guess who it was.
Recently, there had been daily calls from Noxville. Initially, it was Yvonne, but after Candice blocked
her, they kept calling from different numbers. The messages piled up–either scolding her for being
unfilial or urging her to answer the phone. The latest was a threat saying that she would
regret it if she didn’t answer.
Candice answered the call. After a brief silence, Ivor’s gloomy voice echoed, “Candice, you’ve
finally answered, huh?”
“I told Yvonne not to contactanymore.”
Ivor sneered, “You said not to contact you, but she’s your mom. Why shouldn’t she look for you? You
unfilial daughter, do you even care about your mom?”
Listening to his voice, she interrupted coldly, “Hang up if there’s nothing else.”
“Giveanother five hundred thousand.” Ivor threatened coldly. “You’re spending so much money to
keep that old man in the hospital. It’s useless! He’ll die sooner or later. You’re just wasting money now.
You might as well show filial piety toand your mom!”
He spoke assertively, but Candice’s eyes grew colder. She asked, “What about Yvonne?”
The last tshe had sent that five hundred thousand, she didn’t care or investigate whether it was
Yvonne deceiving her. She just hoped Yvonne would keep her word and not clooking for
her again.
But it was clear Yvonne was lying to her again.
“Why do you care so much? I’m telling you, five hundred thousand, transfer it quickly!”

expression remained unchanged. She couldn’t be bothered to fluctuate her tone and simply said, ” I
won’t give you a single penny.”
When Candice returned to the villa, Hanley had already explained everything to everyone, and they
were discussing where to celebrate.
Nadia asked her, “I saw before coming here that there’s a famous grilled fish place in the north of the
city. Do you know where it is?”
Candice wasn’t too concerned about food, but she nodded as she had heard Kayla mention it.
before. “I do.”
But she hadn’t expected that this meal would be unpleasant too.
The north of the city was an old area, less developed than the south. Seeing Sieg here surprised her.
After all, once, when she accompanied Alex to a dinner, Sieg had shown disdain when he heard she
was from the north of the city.
In Sieg’s eyes, this backward old area was no different from a slum.
Sieg seemed to have noticed her too, but unusually, he didn’t cto pick a fight; instead, he
turned and entered the neighboring store.
Next door was a mushroom soup restaurant, seemingly newly opened.
Candice withdrew her gaze, pulled by Nadia into the grilled fish restaurant. The spicy and fragrant
fish was delicious.
While eating, her phone, placed on the table, vibrated with a message from an unknown number. She
knew it was Ivor again, harassing her with a new number..
She lost her appetite instantly and picked up her phone, excusing herself.
“Candice, aren’t you eating?”
“I feel a bit stuffy. I’m going out for sfresh air.”
In fact, the way back hfrom here wasn’t far. Candice stood beneath the old banyan tree by
the shop’s entrance.
People walked past her, and she stood there, feeling isolated from everything around her.
That was until she heard a disdainful snort behind her, followed by Sonia’s hesitant voice.” Candice,
what are you doing here?”
Candice paused, then turned around and saw Sonia coming out of the neighboring shop.
Meanwhile, Sieg and a few other people she had seen before in that circle were gradually coming
out of the mushroom soup shop.
She didn’t see Alex.
“Are you waiting for Alex?” Sieg, nonchalantly, strolled over to Candice, looking down at her with a
raised chin. He lazily commented, “How patient of you to wait for Alex. Aren’t you making yourself
seem worthless?”

“You’re overthinking it.” Candice replied casually.
After speaking, she prepared to return to the grilled fish shop. Her mood was already dull, and
encountering Sieg and the others made it even more uncomfortable.
However, Sonia smiled and took the initiative to speak, “Candice, it’s quite a coincidence to meet you
here. Our family’s shop just opened. Why not cand taste it too?”
She looked pleased as she continued, “Alex said before that my mom is good at cooking, so it
should be good. Otherwise, I don’t think he would support us opening the shop.”
Candice’s eyes flickered as she involuntarily looked toward the shop behind Sonia. She pursed her lips
slightly. So, did Alex lend a hand to Sonia’s family shop?
She withdrew her gaze, feeling no emotions in her heart.
Whenever she asked Alex for help, it always required a lot of conditions before he would reluctantly

She didn’t know what price Sonia’s shop would have to pay.
But this thought was quickly denied by Candice. Alex valued her like his own heart, so why would
he need her to plead?
Candice didn’t stay outside for long and turned back to the grilled fish shop.
Just as she entered, a figure appeared in the nearby parking lot. Alex had finally arrived. He glanced at
the group outside, his expression cold. “Sorry I’m late. I had to work overtime.”
Sieg’s expression was indiscernible. He didn’t greet Alex as warmly as before, just coldly saying,” I
have something to do, I’ll leave first.”
Alex glanced at him but didn’t say anything.
Sonia glanced at the two’s expressions, blinked, and spoke softly. “Alex, everyone’s waiting for
you. Sieg said we should go have fun together.”
Sieg didn’t move. He looked at Alex expressionlessly. “Alex, you’re so busy now. Do you even have
tto accompany us?”
Alex casually replied, “Where?”
Someone chimed in. “We were thinking of going to GT, it’s been a while.”
Sieg, appearing nonchalant, said, “You’re half a step too late. If you had cearlier, you could have
bumped into Candice. She probably knew you were coming and deliberately waited here.”
He then sneered, “A worthless pursuit. Just looking at her probably spoils your appetite.”
After he said that, Sonia added, “Yeah, Candice is here too. How about we invite her along?”
When she said this, she had a smile on her face, appearing quite sincere.
Sieg smirked beside her, “Sonia, you seem quite enthusiastic.
“However,” He paused, a hint of displeasure in his voice. “If she goes, I won’t. I want to avoid any bad
luck from coming my way.”
Candice knew nothing about the situation outside. She had just returned to the grilled fish shop when
she heard Nadia say, “Yana is coming over soon.”
Yana arrived in a frenzy, coming in with an imposing manner.
However, she also brought snews that made Candice feel uneasy.
