Chapter 1005 Because I Love You
When Ning Ran left the club, she saw Nan Chen's car waiting outside.
Isn't he overreacting? Is he afraid that Rong Xiao might kidnap me?
Nan Chen explained that he was there to bring Ning Ran to a place.
However, he kept the destination a secret.
Ning Ran kept staring out of the window silently.
This time, it was actually Nan Chen who broke the silence. “How's the meeting?”
Ning Ran asked, “You knew very well that it was him. Why did you arrange for us to meet?”
He failed to answer.
For some reason, he had many reasons back then. Yet, faced with Ning Ran's question now, he found himself at a
loss for words.
“I should've asked for your permission,” he said.
Actually, Ning Ran did not intend to blame Nan Chen. Although such an arrangement did make her feel flustered,
she felt pretty good after the meeting.
She thought that it would be tough to confront all those, yet reality was not as difficult as she imagined.
There were countless things that people were unwilling to face. Yet, once they actually confronted it head-on, they
would realize that it was not as challenging as they thought.
With Nan Chen's help, she managed to meet Rong Xiao. That was quite a good thing too.
However, he was right when he said that he should've gotten Ning Ran's permission.
He should not have arranged the meeting on her behalf and caught her off guard.
Ning Ran sighed. “Forget it. I don't blame you.”
Nan Chen complained secretly. There's no use, even if you blame me. After all, you've already met him.
“He's a good elder. I have a nice impression of him,” shared Ning Ran.
Nan Chen nodded.
“He didn't say that he wanted to acknowledge me as his daughter. He's really careful—even more so than I am,”
she continued.

He nodded again. “He's probably very nervous.”
Ning Ran was shocked. “How do you know?”
Nan Chen's response was surprising. “When I suddenly found out that I have children, I was very nervous too.”
Ning Ran was confused. “Why?”
“I wasn't able to be there for my kids when they were growing up, so I thought that I didn't deserve to be a father. I
felt like I had committed a crime. Guilt and remorse filled me. But I also want my own children and be close to
them. At the same time, I'm not afraid of rejection. After all, it's true that I haven't done anything for them. I have
no right to have them. The feeling of wishing to have something but not daring to reach out is really tormenting. It's
understandable for one to be nervous.”
It was quite rare for Nan Chen to say so much in one go.
Although Ning Ran could not empathize with it personally, she thought that he made sense.
Nan Chen could understand how Rong Xiao was feeling.
Despite being happy, he was also racked with guilt and unease.
“Is that why you arranged for me to meet him?” Ning Ran turned around and looked at Nan Chen.
“That's not the entire reason. I just think that since it's impossible to erase the relationship between the two of you,
it's best to just face it. Facing it doesn't mean acknowledging your relationship,” he replied.
Ning Ran nodded in agreement.
“He gave me money and asked me to buy some gifts for the kids. One million for each of them.”
Ning Ran chuckled as she continued, “Rich people are so generous. If he could've offered two million when I was at
my lowest with the kids, it would be a lifesaver. I don't feel grateful when he gives me money now. Instead, I find it
quite ironic.”
“Did you accept it?”
Ning Ran shook her head. “Of course not. I don't want his money.”
“You should have. He'll feel better. If you accept his money, you're actually helping him. He must have felt really
horrible after you rejected it,” said Nan Chen.
Ning Ran spun around and stared at him.
“Did you propose to me as a form of compensation to make yourself feel better?”
Nan Chen was taken aback. “Of course not!”
“Why, then?”
Nan Chen was stunned. His lips parted, yet not a single word was uttered.
“Tell me! Why?” Ning Ran pressed on.
“Because I love you.”
Ning Ran thought that she had misheard him.
This is probably Nan Chen's first time saying that, right? Yeah! I've never heard him say something like that before.
Ning Ran assumed that she would never hear him say that. In fact, she wondered if he could even make himself
utter those words.
Now that he said that out loud, catching her off guard, she felt quite pleasantly surprised. In fact, she felt more
amused than anything else.
Feeling shy, she covered her face and giggled.
She was so lost in her laughter that her whole body shook.
Staring at Ning Ran, who was laughing uncontrollably, Nan Chen revealed an unhappy look.
It's not like I'm having a stand-up comedy show. I merely said that I love you. Is it necessary to laugh like that? My
love confession ended up being a joke to you! Do you think that I'm putting on a comedy act?
Realizing that her laughter might hurt Nan Chen's feelings, Ning Ran quickly stopped.
“I'm sorry. I'm not laughing at you.”
“I don't know what's so amusing,” said Nan Chen gloomily.
Ning Ran could not put a finger on what exactly was so funny. She just had the urge to laugh.
Now that she thought about it, she probably should be more serious.
As they chatted, they arrived at a café. Before they got out of the car, Nan Chen reminded Ning Ran to wear her
mask.
She often forgot that she was already a top celebrity.
When they reached the second floor, a middle-aged man wearing a suit was already waiting there. There was a
laptop in front of him.
He stood up upon spotting Nan Chen. “Hello, Mr. Chen and Mrs. Nan.”
It took Ning Ran a few seconds to realize that he was addressing her.

The man introduced himself. “I am He Feng, the general manager of Joyous Weddings. I'm pleased to be of service
to both of you.”
Ning Ran was astonished. Joyous Weddings? Serving both of us? Is Nan Chen planning a wedding?
When she looked at Nan Chen, he nodded.
That's right. I'm going to marry you.
Ning Ran did not even have the slightest idea that this was going to happen.
Although Nan Chen had already proposed to her at the awards ceremony, she assumed that it was just a formality.
A proposal was different from actually getting married to him.
She would also be married into the Nan family—the wealthiest family in Flower City. It wasn't something to be taken
casually.
Furthermore, she also had a complicated relationship with the Rong family.
Nan Chen's sudden decision took Ning Ran by surprise.
“Mrs. Nan, since you and Mr. Chen are famous, your wedding would be the grandest event of the century. Hence,
our team specially prepared three proposals for you. You can choose one that you're more satisfied with. Once you
make a decision, we can delve into the details and make any necessary modifications.”
As He Feng spoke, he moved the computer toward Ning Ran so she could personally review the plans.
Ning Ran's mind was still in a state of confusion. She hadn't fully recovered from the shock.
So much had happened recently—the proposal, the children being kidnapped, meeting the Rong family, and now
preparing for a wedding.
Ning Ran felt like she was struggling to keep up. Her mind was in disarray.
“I think there's no need to rush. Let's discuss this matter again,” said Ning Ran.
“We're just asking you to choose a tentative plan for now. The details need to be modified and perfected later. We
aren't finalizing everything right away,” said Nan Chen.
“I don't even want to select a preliminary plan. I haven't made up my mind yet. This is all too overwhelming. I need
some time to calm down. I'm sorry, but I can't make a decision today. Sorry for making you come all the way,” said
Ning Ran to He Feng.
