Chapter 959 Glad That It Was Nothing
As far as Ning Ran could remember, this was the second time she was surrounded by hordes of fans.
Even though it was supposedly a common experience for celebrities, there was a big difference if one wasn't
prepared for it.
Under normal circumstances, she would have her staff to help maintain order. Therefore, the more fans in
attendance, the better.
Unfortunately, the current scenario was anything but that. She had been caught off guard and wasn't in control of
the situation.
Amidst the sea of people, she was left all alone without her assistant or bodyguards.
By the time Qiao Zhan managed to squeeze his way toward her, he, too, had no way of extracting Ning Ran from
the crowd.
After all, they were faced with university students, not their enemies. There was no way he could make a path by
beating them up.
Behind Ning Ran's cordial smile was a sense of growing anxiety.
Instead of finding the mistress, I ended up getting myself trapped here. What should I do now?
Qiao Zhan, too, was equally worried and had no idea what to do.
“Everyone, please make way. She's a friend of mine. Please make way!”
At that moment, the appearance of a figure caused the students to open up a path obediently.
When Ning Ran looked up, she was greeted by the sight of a man with exquisite features, piercing eyes, and a
gentlemanly aura.
No wonder the students obeyed him. It's none other than Rong Yi.
Despite being older than his students, Rong Yi's good looks still put all of them to shame.
It had never occurred to Ning Ran that she would run into him there.
What surprised her even more was that all the students knew him and were greeting him one by one.
Upon walking up to Ning Ran, Rong Yi gave her a gentle look. He then broke into a wide grin and said, “Don't worry.
They're just crazy about you.”

“I teach here,” Rong Yi replied with a smile.
Even though Ning Ran was a little shocked, she could only manage a nod, unable to probe further due to the
chaotic situation.
“Everyone, please disperse. Ms. Ding is my friend who has come here to see me. Now that you have gotten your
pictures and autographs, you can all be on your way now.” Rong Yi waved at the students.
“Mr. Rong, is Ms. Ding your girlfriend?” a cheeky female student asked loudly, drawing laughter from the crowd.
“You know, Mr. Rong and Ms. Ding seem like a good match. Both of them are so good-looking,” another student
added.
A stern look descended upon Rong Yi's face. “Stop talking nonsense and go back to class!”
Only then did the smiling students gradually disperse.
“What are you doing here? Is there anything I can do for you?” Rong Yi asked Ning Ran.
However, the question stumped her.
That's right. What am I doing here? To expose a mistress? But I don't even know who she is. How am I going to
even do that?
On top of that, it would be too embarrassing for Ning Ran to admit her true goal.
Ning Ran's hesitation told Rong Yi that it was something difficult for her to share. Hence, he didn't press on and
changed the subject instead.
“I'm staying upstairs. Would you like to come up and have a cup of water?”
Ning Ran replied with a smile, “Sure.”
“This way please.” Rong Yi ushered her ahead with a chivalric bow.
Just as Qiao Zhan wanted to inform Ning Ran that he would wait in the car, he quickly realized that it was a bad
idea.
Rong Yi is the Nan family's arch-rival and a dashing one at that. It's fine for Sir Chen to meet him alone since they're
both men, but Madam is a woman. It would be inappropriate for her to go to his quarters alone. If something were
to happen, Sir Chen would definitely kill me.
After a slight hesitation, he followed them from behind.
Noticing what he was doing, Ning Ran suggested, “Qiao Zhan, why don't you take a walk around? I'll have a quick
chat with Mr. Rong and come back in no time.”
Despite grunting in acknowledgment, Qiao Zhan didn't budge.
Reading Qiao Zhan's mind easily, the sharp Rong Yi suggested with a grin, “Why don't you join us for a cup of water
too?”
Since Rong Yi had invited him, Qiao Zhan was definitely not going to refuse.
Ning Ran was cognizant that it would be rude to stop Qiao Zhan. Nevertheless, she was still embarrassed by the
wariness the latter displayed toward Rong Yi.
Upon entering his spartan accommodation, Rong Yi invited his guests to sit and served them water.
As there were only two chairs inside, Rong Yi had no choice but to stand after Ning Ran and Qiao Zhan had taken
their seats.
Out of courtesy, Qiao Zhan quickly got back up and offered his place to Rong Yi before choosing to stand by the
piano.
Feeling curious, he pressed the keys on the piano, causing a discordant and random series of notes to ring out.
It wasn't until Ning Ran gave him a look that he finally stopped.
Given Qiao Zhan's towering figure, he was kind of an eye sore standing in the room. Even he couldn't help but feel
awkward over it.
Since Rong Yi had been gentlemanly in his demeanor and wouldn't pose a threat to Ning Ran, especially in a school,
Qiao Zhan suggested that he would take a walk outside.
Rong Yi chuckled in response. “Sure. The school grounds are beautiful. You will enjoy admiring it.”
Only after Qiao Zhan stepped out did Ning Ran heave a sigh of relief.
Staring at Ning Ran, Rong Yi broke into a smile. “When Mr. Chen came over here earlier, I played a song for him
which he liked very much. If you don't mind, I'll play it for you too.”
Ning Ran nodded. “Sure. Actually, I learned how to play the piano when I was a child but gave it up later on due to a
lack of talent.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmOnce Rong Yi walked up to the piano, his fingers began to dance on the keys.
Ning Ran listened intently with her eyes closed.
After the first piece, Rong Yi asked Ning Ran, “What do you think?”
Ning Ran pondered a moment before replying, “I don't really understand music, but I enjoyed the melody a lot. It
takes me away to the countryside.”
A chuckle was heard from Rong Yi. “There's no need to understand music. The emotions one feels when listening to
the same music will differ with one's state of mind. That said, you and Mr. Chen have a very high level of
awareness. Both of you succeeded in picking up what the composer wanted to convey.”
Ning Ran giggled like a child after being praised. “Is that so? Are you saying that I, too, am an undiscovered gem of
a musician?”
Rong Yi nodded with a grin. “You can put it that way.”
All of a sudden, something occurred to Ning Ran belatedly. “Did you just say that Nan Chen was here?”
Her question stunned Rong Yi. Were you not listening just now?
“That's right. He left after dropping by for a short while. I subsequently went off to teach a class before you
appeared. As for what he asked, I still need time to consider it and can't give him an answer for the time being.
Please convey my words to him.”
In that instant, Ning Ran knew that she had gotten the wrong idea.
The good-looking person Nan Chen came to see at the music academy is actually Rong Yi. Fine. I have to admit that
he's handsome. Only a blind man would disagree. It's so cruel of Poker Face not to explain the situation to me
despite my jealousy. Come to think of it now, I didn't seem to have given him the opportunity to do so, did I? I
simply got carried away by letting my imagination run wild.
The realization that Nan Chen wasn't cheating on her caused Ning Ran's face to light up in delight.
“I'm glad he wasn't. That's wonderful. Really wonderful!” she mumbled to herself with a smile.
Clueless as to what she meant, Rong Yi inquired, “What are you talking about? What's wonderful?”
Realizing that she had just lost her composure, Ning Ran quickly got a grip on herself. “Nothing. What I mean is that
I'm glad I know how to appreciate your music, which means I'm just as good as Nan Chen.”
The smiling Rong Yi nodded even though he wasn't exactly sure what she meant.
