133 Chapter 133 Jealousy
(Claire POV)
They say that when something can go wrong, then it will go wrong, I think there is even a law that talks about it, and although I do not remember the name of it; I still wanted to curse it fervently right now.
Tomorrow would be the day of the ceremony, so after handing in some homework the teachers let us leave early, which is why Melissa and I decided to go out shopping to distract ourselves a bit; originally everything was going well but an unforeseen event ruined my day.
While Melissa and I were walking through the small shopping district of the town, we met Brayan’s idiot accompanied by some friends of his, originally that would not have been too much trouble, but it happened that at that moment I was talking with Melissa about my first kiss with Desmond.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSince I had told Melissa about my relationship with Desmond she had been quite curious about the details, as it was a normal thing for girls to talk about their boyfriends, it seemed incredible to me to be able to talk to someone about Desmond and me; But how could I expect idiot Brayan to come by at that very moment and hear me talk about it.
The only lucky thing about the whole thing is that he didn’t seem to hear the name of the person I was talking about and Brayan only made a scene about me having a boyfriend when he had spent all this time courting me; of course, I didn’t find his tantrum pleasant so I just ignored it and left along with Melissa.
′′ I am going to find out who he is and I will teach him a lesson, when I make that coward kneel you will understand that I am your best option Claire, do you hear me? ′′ Brayan when he saw that I was leaving began to rant with anger like a lunatic.
But would he lower me to his level and answer him? My actions spoke for themselves, Melissa who was still by my side sometimes turned to see the enraged Brayan while the concern on his face increased; in the end, she couldn’t help but express the doubt in her heart.
′′ will that be OK? I heard that his family got some resources to ensure that he would awaken a powerful Esper ability, it could cause you a lot of trouble if that happens; if he joins the military few people will interfere if he goes crazy. ′′
.....
Hearing my friend’s concern I felt a little warm in my heart, besides Desmond she could be the only person who has shown care for me in many years; but at her question, I couldn’t help but form a bright smile on my lips as she answered.
′′ He better not do it. ′′
′′ what do you mean? ′′ Melissa answered back a little puzzled.
′′ Desmond is jealous, very jealous and possessive, but he is also a person who controls himself very well so he usually does not say anything even if some silly boy falls in love with me; But it’s a completely different story if Desmond believes that person is a threat to my safety. ′′ Normally I wouldn’t reveal that much about Desmond or myself to anyone, but Melissa’s genuinely concerned face prompted me to be honest with her to reassure her.
′′ He certainly seems like the jealous type, but jealousy is normal in most men, the fact that they know how to control his jealousy is what matters; But what do you mean that is different when he considers them a threat? ′′ Melissa voiced her own opinion on jealousy before turning to the most interesting part of what I had said.
Hearing her question, I stopped to think about it for a few moments, I trusted Melissa, we hadn’t known each other for a long time, but I trusted her; the problem is, there were things that I just couldn’t reveal to anyone.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKnowing that there were secrets about me and Desmond that should never be known to anyone, having blood-stained hands is not something normal people would be able to accept; reaching that conclusion I turned in the direction of my friend and answered with a deep voice full of seriousness.
′′ Desmond would never allow someone to be a threat to my safety. . . NEVER, when that point is reached it is no longer a question of jealousy for him; you have to understand Melissa. . . Much has happened in the last five years and this is no longer a world that is kind to vulnerable people, least of all two orphans without any support. ′′
That was the limit of what I could say to Melissa, there were many things implicit in my words, at the same time I had not said anything in particular about us, but I had left one thing: Desmond would not allow Brayan to become a threat to me; as to how Desmond would do that should we go to such lengths. . . well, I had an idea, as for my friend; she could draw her own conclusions.
At the end of the day I had said something very true, a lot had happened in the last five years, and even people who had not got their hands stained with blood had an idea of ??how dangerous and unbridled the world was had become since then.
Hearing the words that came from my lips and understanding some of the things implicit in them, Melissa was completely dumbfounded at the revelation but thinking about it in depth she came to understand that to survive in this world alone, Desmond and I had gone through much; so even though anxiety and doubt were written all over her face she refrained from asking questions that she knew would have no answer, knowing that instead, they could put our friendship at risk and instead she asked a different question.
′′ He loves you, right? Does he make you happy? ′′ It sounded like the typical question a friend would ask another about her boyfriend, but there was an incredibly deep seriousness and concern in Melissa’s words at the time.
Watching my dear friend so deeply concerned about me, I knew that I had done the right thing by opening up a bit with a person like her; she was the kind of person who was really worth befriending.
′′ He loves me more than you can imagine and he makes me so happy that I sometimes find it hard to believe that my life with him is not a dream. ′′ I answered with the purest and most sincere smile that he had put in front of Melissa since we met.
Melissa stood there staring at me in a daze for a moment before slowly nodding and muttering to herself, “That smile says it all.”
