160 Chapter 160 fight to the death against the necromancer

′′ I can’t believe that worked. ′′ With a surprised expression on his face Desmond watched the strange entity emerge from the cave before being easily knocked down by the arrow that came out of his bow. . . or so he thought.

In an instant, a blast of dark miasma shot like a spear into Desmond’s face, who was caught off guard and barely had enough time to evade the shot by a couple of millimeters.

A bead of cold sweat trickled down Desmond’s forehead when he realized how close he had come to die, if it had been just a little slower he would have a shattered skull from that attack; not daring to have another oversight like that Desmond immediately entered Full-Drive at the same time that he readied another arrow in his bow.

Then he witnessed how the necrotic entity rise from the ground in an extremely calm and leisurely manner, he did not even seem to consider that having an arrow buried in his chest was a big problem; Desmond on the other hand was not so calm when he saw how little damage he had done from one of his shots at full power.

The necrotic entity in front of Desmond did not seem to bother with the defensive posture that the latter maintained and he simply looked at his chest when a small stream of dark miasma crept up to the arrow; soon the arrow was covered in darkness and suddenly turned to ash.

′′ So you are the one who has been killing my puppets, you don’t seem like a big deal; who are you? ′′

Tsuuu!

Seeing Desmond shoot directly without bothering to respond, he not only greatly angered the necromancer but also made him understand the kind of man he was facing which made him take things more seriously; With a wave of his cadaverous hand, a swirl of deadly miasma engulfed Desmond’s arrow without leaving a trace.

′′ Oh, sorry, did you expect an answer? ′′ Right after seeing his attack fail, Desmond ended up replying to the necromancer, but from his tone of voice and expression, even an idiot would realize that Desmond was only trying to annoy the necromancer.

.....

The necromancer was furious at Desmond’s attitude, but he still couldn’t help but cling to his proud nature and reply to Desmond with disdain: “Don’t worry, I don’t usually talk to the dead. ′′

As soon as those proud words of the necromancer left his cold, undead lips, Desmond pushed Full-Drive to its maximum limit and fired a barrage of shots in the direction of the necromancer in an attempt to catch him off guard.

But it was Araszh that Desmond was up against and it would be below him to fall for such a cheap trick twice in a row, tentacles of necrotic miasma swung around him easily knocking down Desmond’s arrows and although the tentacles took some damage this was far from being meaningful.

Seeing his attack fail again Desmond proceeded to insult the necromancer once more just for fun: ′′ Don’t you talk to the dead? Wouldn’t that make you a lousy necromancer? ′′

But it only took a glance at Desmond’s expression to know that he was not as carefree as he tried to appear, Desmond knew that this time he had encountered an enemy that surpassed him in both strength and experience and he would have to be resourceful if I wanted to win this battle.

Araszh on the other hand could no longer be bothered with Desmond’s nonsense again so he gathered his necrotic miasma tentacles and shot them like a small tsunami of darkness in the direction of the young hunter.

Desmond did not hesitate to withdraw decisively as fast as he could, he knew that he could not block an attack like that, but the miasma was even faster than him and would catch up with him soon; Desmond once again pushed Full-Drive to its maximum limits for a split second before jumping back as high as he could.

Decreasing the intensity of Full-Drive before he lost control of the ability, Desmond took an arrow and placed it on his bow again, when the necromancer saw Desmond’s actions he was dismissive, according to his point of view the arrows Desmond’s were not powerful enough to overcome his deadly miasma.

Of course, that smug expression on his face faded into oblivion when he saw an intense flame coating Desmond’s arrow before he fired it in the direction of his attack; as soon as the arrow hit it was as if his miasma faced his worst nightmare as it vaporized at high speed.

′′ I should have known you liked to play with fucking fire bastard. ′′ Unable to contain his hatred for fire, Araszh lashed out, insulting Desmond for his fondness for this hideous element.

As for what response did the necromancer get from the young hunter? Let’s just say it looked like a flaming arrow, sounded like a flaming arrow, and hit the necromancer’s defense like a flaming arrow. . . one might guess that Desmond did indeed shoot a fiery arrow at the necromancer after seeing the effectiveness of his earlier shot.

It’s just that this time the fiery arrow was devoured by a powerful vortex of deadly miasma that smothered the fire with great ease, it was obvious that even with the advantage of fire the difference in strength between the two was just too big.

Instead, the enraged necromancer created a new set of dark tentacles and tried to crush Desmond with cruelty, Desmond as observant as he was had already noticed that the tentacles this time seemed to be made of several times the amount of necrotic energy and trying to dispel them was a fool’s dream.

Desmond once again stepped onto the defensive as he tried to find the opportunity for a counterattack, but the necromancer’s offense was powerful and endless giving Desmond zero opportunities to counter-attack.

In the end, the necromancer seemed to adapt little by little to Desmond’s dodging patterns, getting closer and closer to hit, when noticing it Desmond ran to the base of a thick tree and used it as a base to perform a high jump positioning him almost above the necromancer.

′′ Attacking from above, that’s a good idea; so I will enjoy your blood raining over my skin. ′′ As soon as the necromancer’s bizarre voice ended, it gathered his miasma and threw what looked like a wall of impaling spears in Desmond’s direction into the air.

Seeing death coming in his direction Desmond remained calm as he took the hunter’s book in his right hand and brandished it like a tennis racket in the direction of the necromancer’s attack.

One might think Desmond went crazy for doing something so stupid and pointless, but they wouldn’t think the same after seeing a familiar object pop out of the notebook, even Araszh looked a bit dumbfounded when he saw the familiar silhouette of a barrel shoot out of Desmond’s hand.

Desmond having little time to act, immediately took another fiery arrow and fired it in the direction of the barrel that fell in the direction of the barrage of spears of miasma.

BOOOOOM!

The enormous force of the blast completely dispersed the dark spears heading in Desmond’s direction and ignited part of the miasma around the necromancer, thus giving Desmond the opportunity he was looking for.

A gauntlet formed by a tremendous amount of metallic-type mana manifested itself on Desmond’s right hand who fell in the direction of the necromancer, Araszh without time to gather the dark miasma of him had to face Desmond’s lethal melee attack.

Unfortunately for Desmond, the necromancer was not as incompetent in close combat as one would expect, he was nothing exceptional either but given the difference in strength it was enough to defend against Desmond’s incessant barrage of slashing.

In addition to the initial blow that left a huge cut on the necromancer’s chest, Desmond failed to land a second attack, the necromancer was not only proficient in combat but in a matter of seconds, he had reunited his necrotic miasma after having extinguished the fire.

By this time Desmond had started to look genuinely powerless against the necromancer, he had lost his best chance to take down the undead monster and it was time for him to pay the price.

′′ I think it’s my turn now, don’t you think so? ′′
