94 Chapter 94 Alchemists Pay Well
(Third person POV)
Using in an almost bizarre way the water mirror ability to condense water from mana in the atmosphere and use it to cleanse his body quickly, then forming a gentle stream of wind with mana from the same element; Desmond created a magical, instant version of an outdoor bath.
Donning only a slightly tight black shirt, Desmond returned to the house, only to find Sasha calmly sipping a cup of tea in the living room. . . or that’s what she wanted to pretend because he couldn’t hide the slight trembling of her hands from the nervousness and the blush on her cheeks.
Taking a deep breath Desmond looked genuinely surprised for a moment by the aroma of the tea.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt′′ It seems that what you lack in cooking skills, you have plenty when it comes to preparing a good tea. ′′ Desmond expressed thus a sincere compliment to such aroma.
′′ Making tea is a lot like making a potion and I am very good at that, is what my teacher used to say. . . Would you like a cup? I can make some more. ′′ Sasha offered kindly after a small lapse of sadness when talking about her teacher.
how about this? I make breakfast for both of you and you make me a cup of that tea, then we can talk about the business we left pending yesterday. ′′
it seems perfect. ′′ Said Sasha excited about the idea of ??trying Desmond’s cooking again.
Moments later after a rich but simple breakfast, Sasha and I Desmond were now in the living room each with a cup of steaming tea in hand.
.....
′′ It is really the most delicious cup of tea I have ever tasted, my sense of taste thanks you. ′′ Desmond said with his eyes closed while he was still sipping the tea he had just drank.
′′ In that case, I would have to thank you for breakfast. ′′ Sasha exclaimed with a soft satisfied smile.
′′ Well, I think it’s time for us to talk business, okay? ′′
′′ Sure, it seems perfect to me. ′′
′′ In the first place yesterday you offered me a very attractive deal, in exchange for helping you in the collection of materials for your experiments, you would use part of the compound obtained to improve my armor; I am right? ′′ Desmond said just to confirm that he remembered correctly.
′′ You are correct, but I would like to add one more request, the area where we must look for the materials is infested by that strange energy that gave life to those creatures, I would like to investigate about it and solve the cause of the problem if possible; after all, this is happening in an area too close to my area of ??operation. ′′
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm′′ You are right, I assumed that part of my job would be to protect you from all kinds of beasts infected by that parasitic energy, but from that to seek to solve the problem are two different things; I’ll be honest with you, I like you, but you’re asking too much if you want me to do that for free. ′′ Express Desmond subtly rejected her.
′′ Don’t worry, I also have a payment for that particular job. I was recently working on an experiment that ended successfully a couple of weeks ago, it was about the elaboration of a potion that allows revitalizing objects made of organic tissue of vegetable origin to be able to infuse them with an energizing compound to improve their quality. ” Sasha exclaimed proudly.
But seeing Desmond’s complete lack of reaction, she realized that while the hunter she met yesterday was incredibly smart and shrewd; at the end of the day he wasn’t an alchemist so relying solely on her deduction abilities to understand everything she said was asking for the impossible and being inconsiderate.
′′ In other words, I can help improve your bow by giving it a two-stage alchemical treatment, depending on the quality of the materials the improvement will be more powerful so if you want to find or provide special materials I can try to further enhance the improvement. ; but at the very least I can tell you that with the simple alchemical treatment based on the materials I have on hand I should be able to improve it by a level or maybe two. ′′
This time it was Desmond’s turn to be completely shocked by the sudden news that he would be able to improve his beloved bow, after all, he had grown very fond of it and the way he got it, but this was the bottom line a zero-star class bow that wouldn’t serve him long; being able to improve it was the perfect setting in Desmond’s mind.
′′ Of course, for as long as you are working for me, all food and lodging will be free, you are free to use even the most luxurious ingredients in my kitchen if you wish, some of them contain enormous amounts of elemental energy and nutrients for which should help as a great supplement to your training; I also have some potions in storage that should be useful to you. . . you can take as many as you want. ′′ At the end of her offer, Sasha was so proud that if a lion were to witness the scene even he would be forced to bow to such a woman.
On the other hand, Desmond at this point was beginning to notice that Sasha suddenly seemed more charming, almost as if she was covered by a bright curtain full of money. . . Even Desmond, who was not a greedy person by nature, had to take a few moments to regain his composure after hearing the ridiculous offer from the alchemist.
′′ Deal done ′′ With a bit of a hurry as if he was afraid that Sasha would retract at any moment, Desmond accepted the offer while in his head he thought the following “heck alchemists do have money in their pockets, maybe I should ask me a friend of one of them. . . or better, just kidnapping the one in front of me ”
And so the business conversation ended, with Desmond fantasizing about mountains of gold and fantastic potions while Sasha felt an inexplicable sense of danger coming from Desmond.
