"Mo Sheng?" He Yuan looked ahead to find the man of the show, Mo Jiu, walking towards him with a beautiful woman by his side. The lady's eyes did not acknowledge He Yuan at all as she was focused on eyeing Mo Jiu with a flushed face. The Alchemy peak master.

The woman humphed and narrowed her eyes at He Yuan when she finally managed to tear her hungry gaze away from Mo Jiu. "Mo boy. What are you doing here?"

He Yuan cupped his fist and lowered his head slightly like he'd seen Mo Sheng do numerous times in the storyline. Anyhow, the woman was centuries old and was at the middle stage of the Dao seeking level. It wouldn't do to slight her so openly at his current level. "Peak master. I was just taking a stroll and admiring the spiritual herbs."

Mo Jiu narrowed his eyes. "Are you not supposed to be fighting at the arena?"

He Yuan pretended not to hear Mo Jiu and remained silent. By seniority, he wasn't obligated to answer Mo Jiu's questions.

The peak master grit her teeth at He Yuan's blatant disrespect of her lover. "Answer the question."

He Yuan finally looked to Mo Jiu. "Shidi, no matter what, I'm still your daxiong and protocol must be followed. I'm very sure master taught you better than to show no acknowledgement to your seniors whenever you meet them."

Mo Jiu raised his brows at He Yuan's words. He was the arrogant son of heaven. The one created to go against the heavens and break the dao. How could he lower his head to a cultivation trash like Mo Sheng? Never!

He Yuan took in Mo Jiu's silence and cupped his fists one more time at the peak master before walking away. He had already been anticipating Mo Jiu's actions. Anyways, the peak master would not be able to attack him when he'd done nothing wrong. He was elder Mo's first disciple after all. The woman didn't have a death wish.

Mo Jiu watched Mo Sheng go and his frown deepened. Mo Sheng was acting different. Very different from the Mo Sheng who took every opportunity to curse at him. What was wrong?

"Jiu-ge!" Mo Jiu was drawn from his thoughts when he noticed Shen Mianmian gracefully walking towards him from the side. A gentle smile graced his lips.

"Mianmian." He called out softly when she held his arm in between her ample bosoms and patted her head. "What are you doing here? What about the fight?"

Shen Mianmian looked up at Mo Jiu with a happy smile. "I won of course!" And then she humphed and looked away with a pout. "Jiu-ge, you weren't even there. I'm so mad at you, Mianmian is going to ignore you from now on!"

Mo Jiu chuckled and lowered his head to place a kiss at Shen Mianmian's temple. "You have to forgive me. Your Jiu-ge was busy handling other matters."

Shen Mianmian raised her chin and pouted at Mo Jiu. "Are you telling me the truth?"

Mo Jiu lowered his head once more and kissed Shen Mianmian's pouted lips. When she flushed red and lowered her head shyly, he laughed. "Of course. Your Jiu-ge cares about his Mianmian the most."

Shen Mianmian giggled. "Okay. I already sent word to my father. He would soon arrive at the Cloud peak to break off the engagement together with your master. Come with me?"

Mo Jiy smiled. "Okay." And then he pulled out his sword, Huoyan -the legendary flame sword that had shocked the world when Mo Jiu had bonded with it at the sword mountain two years ago.

The surroundings got a few degrees hotter and the Alchemy peak master and Shen Mianmian felt a burn in their very souls. The sword was too powerful!

Mo Jiu hopped on the sword and held his hand out to Shen Mianmian, who took it and hopped on behind him. She felt so happy. Her Jiu-ge must love her so much. He was letting her ride Huoyan with him!

Mo Jiu sent the Alchemy peak master a firm nod and a sly wink before heading to the Cloud peak with Shen Mianmian.

The Alchemy peak master watched them go with a satisfied smile. Mo Jiu was very powerful, she could already envision him being the ruler of the entire realm one day. It wouldn't do for such a person to belong to just one person alone so she was very happy and willing to share. Mo Jiu deserved it all.

Meanwhile He Yuan was staring at the one thousand steps he had to walk down before leaving the Alchemy peak, with his hands on his waist and tears in his eyes. What was this?

Each peak had one thousand steps leading to the top and in between the peaks were miles of forests. The Cloud peak was right at the centre of the six other peaks and it was said to have twice the number of steps on the other peaks.

Meaning that for He Yuan to get to the Cloud peak to dissolve the engagement, he had to walked down a thousand steps, walk in the forest below for miles and then climb up two thousand steps.

If Mo Sheng was able to cultivate like others, he would have been able to hop on a sword and speedily fly to anywhere he wanted. Too bad that wasn't the case.

Mo Sheng wasn't also like Mo Jiu or the disciples from prominent clans who had either transportation artifacts or transportation talismans to enable them to easily move from one place to the other.

Mo Sheng hardly left elder Mo's peak and even when elder Mo had offered Mo Sheng a transportation artifact, Mo Sheng had firmly rejected it and chose to walk to wherever he wanted to because he felt it was form of self punishment for being unable to cultivate.

He Yuan sighed in sorrow. He wasn't Mo Sheng. He wanted a transportation artifact. He didn't want to punish himself. It wasn't as if Mo Sheng's self punishment had made the heavens take pity on him and allowed him the luxury of cultivation.

He Yuan turned around and decided to look for a disciple to take him. He found one just as he entered the clearing in front of the Alchemy peak. "Hey-" Before he could finish his sentence, the disciple turned around and walked away, pretending not to hear He Yuan.

This happened for a few more times so He Yuan gave up and walked back to the beginning of the Alchemy peak steps. How could the other disciples be so heartless? Anyhow, Mo Sheng was their fellow disciple, it wouldn't hurt to help a little.

They were all acting like Mo Sheng was some sort of bad luck or harbinger of bad news. They worshiped Mo Jiu like a god but treated Mo Sheng like the dust beneath their feet. The disparity was too large!

He Yuan grit his teeth and sat on the ground in a lotus position. He wasn't the one who was so desperate to cancel the engagement anyways so why should he work so hard? If they wanted to break the engagement then they should come to him. After all, he had a good excuse.

Shen Mianmian had actually beaten the shit out of him and he was too weak to be walking up and down three thousand steps.

He Yuan closed his eyes and tried to absorb the qi in the surroundings. When a rush of energy pooled into his meridians, he sighed in contentment. The qi in this realm was too rich, he felt like a drug addict.

He found where the problem lied in Mo Sheng's body. The half of Mo Sheng that the powerful female demonic cultivator had sealed contained his dantian sea hence his dantian sea was sealed so even if he could absorb qi into his meridians, he could never advance as his dantian sea was basically empty.

He Yuan sighed. Even if he couldn't advance, he still absorbed qi into his meridians and ran it all over the body. The feeling it gave him was so exhilarating he never wanted to stop. He'd never felt so alive.

"Hm mm." Someone cleared their throat and He Yuan immediately opened his eyes. He only just realized the sun was setting. He'd been here since high noon. Who knew he'd taken that long. Time really flew by whenever one cultivated.

He looked to the source of the sound and found elder Mo. The elderly cultivator had a head full of white hair and was dressed in flowing blue robes. His face was stern but he had lines at the corner of his eyes, giving him an amiable look. There was an interspatial ring on his finger and a satchel on his waist alongside several jade slips and tokens.

The elderly cultivator was also quite pitiful. He'd done everything he could for the orphans he'd taken in only to die because one of his disciples had a low EQ and had foolishly caused the death of his other disciple.

At this moment though, He Yuan was thinking about the transportation artifact that Mo Sheng had firmly rejected. His face turned really pitiful.

Elder Mo resisted the urge to laugh when he saw his first disciple's face. Mo Sheng always had a serious look on his face because he was always pushing himself so hard. It was really refreshing to see him look so wronged and elder Mo knew the reason. "Silly kid. You were the one who rejected the transportation artifact I got for you."

He Yuan frowned. "I was muddleheaded. I regret it, I want the artifact now."

Elder Mo burst out laughing. "You don't want the heavens to notice you by punishing yourself anymore?"

He Yuan stood up, dusted his butt and ran over to elder Mo. "All this while I've been punishing myself just so the heaven would notice me and look at how miserable I am. I think the heavens enjoy my self punishment and always punish me more instead.

-My self punishment might have set a bad example so the heavens must think that it is what I want. It would be best if the heavens do not notice me, maybe then they would forget that I exist and stop punishing me."

Elder Mo patted He Yuan's head with a sad sigh. "Why did you make such a foolish bet hm?"

He Yuan shrugged. "She likes shidi anyways. It's best this way. I'm quite satisfied."

Elder Mo felt He Yuan was just acting tough. His first disciple was always good at hiding himself. "You don't have to bottle it up. It's okay to lash out. Too much bottling would make you shrivel inside and you might even develop a heart demon."

He Yuan's lips arched. "I'm really not bottling everything. I really think it's best this way."

Elder Mo sighed. "I have failed you. Don't worry, I would keep trying my best to undo the seal."

He Yuan only nodded and watched as elder Mo pulled out a crane shaped talisman from his interspatial ring and threw it in the air.

The tiny crane expanded until it got to the size of a crane shaped open shuttle and the both of them hopped on. He Yuan was awed. The cultivation realm was really full of wonders.

Time to cancel an engagement.
