After taking the request, Kana left the guild and made her way out of town. She had to walk like a normal person since she was undercover. She did not want everyone to know that the empress was walking around doing requests.
"Isn't that the empres…." A young kid yelled out, but his father quickly covered his mouth and said: "Shhh! That is Sophia! Remember this. Anytime you see her like this, it is Sophia!"
"Huh, but that is obviously the empire…" The young kid's mouth was once more covered. He shrank back when his father glared at him. "That is Sophia!"
"Mmm… Sophia…." The young boy lowered his head. But he really could not understand why he was being told that the person who was obviously the Empress was being called Sophia…. But since he did not wish to be scolded by his father, he would just do as he was told.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKana had no idea that just because she tried to hide her face that her hair horns and halos gave her away. Not to mention the tails and wings on her back. All these factors were hard to hide with her current disguise that she thought was amazingly perfect. Every person on the street knew who she was as she walked down towards the city gates.
When she finally left, Kana smiled and held her head up high, thinking of how great her disguise was. "And the girls said people would recognize me. Humph! I am amazing! I have been using this for a while now, and not a single person has been able to tell who I was!"
Kana proudly wagged her tail as she walked down the newly paved road that led out toward the nearest town. She would not stay on it long as she had to go to one of the forest not too far from here to gather herbs. While she did wish she could escape her duties as an empress she had really settled into her role and was taking everything seriously.
Luckily throughout the years, nothing had happened that would require her intervention. She had hoped someone would start a war with her, but no one did. They only seem to be sitting and waiting.
So because things were peaceful, her empire had really become a place where advanced technology that was a mix of spiritual qi and machine was being innovated and created on a large scale. She had started the industrial revolution in a world that probably never meant to have such things.
There were many industrial cities where millions of people worked, creating new things. Thanks to her also integrating cultivation into the school systems here, the entire empire had become a sect of its own and was actually quite powerful.
Kana had heard stories of people who went out to mystic realms when they opened and would get first pickings all because they were from the Devan Empire. No one, not even the most powerful sects, dared to mess with them. This was because the technology was too powerful. A beam sword made of spiritual qi particles could easily kill anyone, even in the hands of a novice, as long as their cultivation was high enough.
She had tried to even things out by making weapons that were sold outside the empire based on cultivation. They could be used by everyone, but their power was based on the cultivation base.
Whether people could figure out how to tweak them to be more powerful, she did not care. She was trying to keep the heritage at least close to what it should be. While it might have thrown the ascended realm slightly out of place, it did not matter to her since she was doing it for her empire and her empire alone.
She was not afraid of outside threats because items that were only spiritual based would not be able to harm her and her family. She already made sure that each of her babies had a means of protecting themselves, and with her eyes always seeing everything around her babies, she was not afraid that something would happen.
She had to admit while she was spending much more time on this planet than she had originally planned, she had learned a lot. And because of this, she understood the ruthlessness of the world. She was glad she came to this world, or she might have entered the sea of stars or Aurora with thoughts of the past without understanding how to deal with such things, and she might have suffered greatly.
Stretching her arms, Kana hopped off the road and headed towards the forest. As she walked down a trail she had walked down many times, she saw another group of adventurers walking up and chatting with one another.
It was two men and a single girl. They seemed to be students from one of the schools in the capital. When they saw Kana, one of them smiled and yelled out: "Your Highness! You are doing another request today!?"
"You idiot!" The girl behind the young man yelled out as she slapped the back of his head. She looked at the Kana, who was frozen in place and shouted: "Sophia, don't listen to this idiot. He is in love with the empress and calls every girl he meets Your HIghness. He is sick in the head."
Hearing this, Kana let out a sigh of relief as she said: "It's alright. It happens all the time."
"Good luck Sophia!" The other young man said as the group walked by them. The young man who had yelled out the first time was still being smacked in the head. He had an aggrieved expression on his face. He did not know why no one was willing to tell the empress that her disguise sucked.
As for Kana, she let out a sigh of relief: 'Whew! I thought my cover was blown there for a second!" She had really thought they saw through her disguise!
