Chapter 72 - Shelter
[Break! Break! Break!] Qin Hua barked loudly and stopped her body midway, jumping back into the patch of shadow she just leaped out of.
And as soon as she did that, a bunch of attacks hit the spot, including a bolt of lightning. Clearly, her presence here was doing more harm than good.
[What the heck? Woof! Do I have to fight these people now???]
She panted, wondering what to do now, when fortunately Lu Chen and the speed guy walked in, with the speed guy limping his right leg.
"What happened brother Che are you alright?" One of the guys shouted and quickly walked over to him.
Qin Hua gulped in relief after seeing them and once again stepped out.
"AH!!! The beast is here again!" Someone shouted.
[Woof! Too soon?] She prepared to leap back in, but luckily, this time Alex and Lu Chen both shouted. "The dog won't hurt you, don't attack it, stop! stop!"
"Huh?" The men seemed to be confused but nevertheless, they didn't continue attacking.
The speed guy, Bing Che also nodded his head, so everyone calmed down a bit. "These guys also have a few survivors with them. Man, let's just all go back to the shelter."

"Ummm… That is true." Bing Che also hesitated.
"Don't worry, don't worry about that, We have enough food with us." Lu Chen explained to them.
Taking these many people with them and going around everywhere, especially in dangerous places like near the black gates, were not logically and rationally the best possible option.
He didn't mind parting with some of the food they had gathered as long as everyone could stay somewhere safe and wait for help to arrive if any such thing was ever going to happen.
After coming to some sort of understanding, the group then wandered around the hospital together and collected all the supplies. Neither of them wanted to stand around and talk any longer.
After the hospital was cleanly swept, everyone then walked out. Bing Che and his group finally saw the two trucks.
Luo Zu and the others were still sitting in the truck not wanting to step out but after they saw the big group of people walking out, they immediately got down.
Lu Chen briefly explained to everyone what had happened.
"Oh, so there is a shelter?" Luo Zu excitedly punched his fist into his palm.
He had had enough of the dog and the kids' attitude. He didn't want to be with them but there wasn't any other option earlier.
But now…! There was a shelter…! Ha Ha Ha! My freedom is finally here! Luo Zu rejoiced inwardly. "What are we waiting for? Let's all go then!"
"You heard the boss." Lu Chen smiled and everyone got back into the truck.
Bing Che and the new group got into the minivan that was parked on the next street. Qin Hua meanwhile, peeped out to take another look at the sky.
Weirdly, the huge cloud had disappeared.
[Hmm, maybe I was just imagining things.] She smacked her mouth, licked her lips, and rested her head on the truck's cold metal surface.
[Shelter, huh? That's good, that's good. We can unload these leeches and maybe I can also go hunting alone.]
She felt like she needed far less rest than the others. In other words, every time she absorbed a mana core, the fatigue was cleansed.
Mental fatigue still built up, but maybe because of her former life memories, she felt like her mental strength was higher compared to others.
Thinking about the various things, she laid still, enjoying Lu Chen's back rubs as the two trucks followed the minivan to what looked like a huge stadium building.
The baseball stadium had an even bigger indoor auditorium, practice spaces, locker rooms, and even hotel facilities and there were also several compound walls and thick grilled gates making the building somewhat secure.
Of course, nothing could be completely safe as the new beasts and zombies had monstrous strength. This could at most only serve as temporary shelter, but that in itself was a big deal to some of these people who had been extremely traumatized.

They already had a very bad experience, so they wanted to be extremely cautious and first make sure that this is indeed safe. They didn't want to walk into a second situation where everyone was being mind-controlled.
They looked around for a bit, spoke to the survivors, but nobody looked suspicious and from the interactions they had so far, they seemed to be just another group of people like them, only barely hanging on.
In fact, it looked like many hadn't even absorbed any mana cores yet.
On her side, Qin Hua also finished inspecting and did not find anything suspicious.
So after a few minutes, everyone got in slowly and started talking amongst themselves.
Of course, there were a few screams and shrieks after seeing the dog but once that was resolved, everyone happily chatted again.
Bing Che and the group that had scouted the hospital and police station, gathered near Lu Chen, Qin Hua, Guan Ye, Alex, and the two teams started discussing the important details.
At the other end, a part of the big group, including women, helped unload everything from the truck and quickly helped the newcomers settle down.
Everything progressed smoothly. They had even set up beds, tables, chairs, etc and people walked around the perimeter to make sure nothing was roaming around and prowling in wait.
There were quite a few people monitoring the surroundings and Qin Hua nodded contently at this arrangement.
This kind of setup was not bad at all. Her clone walked over and placed Su Yan's body gently on one of the beds when a loud woman nearby reminded her. "Beds are only for the elderly!"
Qin Hua's good mood immediately turned sour and she turned around to give a look. The woman quickly backed away.
