Dr. Tony Scardon sat beside a table, restlessly tapping his foot on the ground as he drank the water he was provided while looking at his watch.
He didn't look at his watch for anything good at all. These few days, it appeared that he wouldn't find anything good in this city at all. After being beaten up for another tand nearly killed, he knew to look out for any signs of his death and work toward avoiding it. Thankfully, no black screens had appeared on his watch just yet.
"Dr Tony?" Ning called out and the man turned around to look at him.
Tony turned around and looked at Ning, Tim, and Jasmine. "Ah, it's really you guys. I thought I was being lied to," he quickly said.
Ning looked at the man from top to bottom, judging the clothes he wore. The woolen robes with a scarf, a hat, and a pair of spectacles in such a hot temperature were enough to make Ning feel uncomfortable just looking at him.
Ning sat down on one side of the table with the other two sitting on either side.
"We heard about you from the people at the amusement park, that was not something good we heard," Ning said.
The scholar gave a grimacing smile. "I put myself in death's door once again," he said. "But I managed to survive, thankfully."
"I heard so," Ning said.
Tim was about to ask something when the man suddenly pulled his scarf down from his mouth to say something. "Say, can you do whatever you did tolast tto get rid of my wounds?" he asked.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtJust with the scarf down, Ning could see a busted lip that was still healing and a few other wounds in the man's hands. He could only wonder how many other wounds he had all over his body.
Ning touched the man's shoulders and immediately the busted lips were healed and the scabs in the man's hands fell apart with fresh and live skin covering it.
The man couldn't help but show an amazed face when he saw that happen.
"How do you do this?" he asked. "Do you have ssort of Zurin treasure?"
"Maybe," Ning said.
"Don't bother asking him questions," Jasmine said from the side. "He won't give you any."
Tim nodded reluctantly. "Dr. Scardon. I heard your lecture in the amusement park went awry, did you really try to tell people that god didn't exist?"
"Of course," Tony said. "What else was I to say when that was what my entire study was based on? And I didn't really say that god didn't exist. We have witnesses and records of Zurnius showing miracles. My argument was that Zurinus was not who created the treasures."
"Those bastards understoodwrong and nearly killedfor it," he said.
Ning looked at the man for a moment and asked. "You say Zurinus didn't create the treasures, but you also believe Zurinus to be a real god. Can I ask what you think Zurinus really is then?"
The many looked at Ning. "Didn't you say you knew the answer? I thought you didn't doubt me," he said.
"Oh, I don't doubt you," Ning said quickly. "I'm just curious to see what your thoughts are on who exactly Zurinus is."
"Well… I believe him to be a real god, but not in a way that he was created from nothing. One thing I have seen nobody talk about when talking about him is why he holds the snas the constellation of stars in the sky."
"If Zurinus exists, then does Garamus exist? Does Tynnasius exist? What about Norgwas? Why is it that only one of the many constellations in the sky was named after our god."
"And?" Ning asked.
"Well, I have no idea why," Tony said. "But my hypothesis is this. Just like how the treasures form from something that already exists in our world, I believe that the god also has to exist from something that already exists in this world."
"Give it stime, and we will start seeing Garamus, Norgwas, Zaraxus, and whatnot," Tony said.
Ning gave a nod of satisfaction at the answer. Despite the fact that the man was entirely wrong about Zurinus himself, he had cso close to correctly hypothesizing the existence of Constellations.
"That is just a theory though," Tony said. "I have no way of proving any of it."
"Neither do I," Ning answered.
Tony gave him a weird look but said nothing.
"Say, would you like to do more research about it?" Tim asked all of a sudden.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Of course," Tony said. "How else am I to learn anything else without any research."
"That is great because we are about to go on a treasure hunt. Would you like to cwith us?" Tim asked.
Tony looked at Tim with a look of surprise and suspicion. He turned to look at Ning, who he had known to be the main leader of this party of 3. "Is this true?" he asked.
"We are going to be heading out today in the afternoon," Ning said.
"Where are you going?" Tony asked.
"Where people rarely dare to go," Ning said. "The Great Reef."
Tony raised an eyebrow. "Many people go to the Great Reef. That's one of the places almost everyone goes," he said.
"No, they go to the ocean surrounding the reef. How many people do you know that go into the reef itself?" he asked.
"You mean…" Tony couldn't believe his ears.
Tim and Jasmine were in the ssituation as well. They gave a terrified look toward Ning. "Sir Ning, what are you saying?" he asked.
"What I just said," Ning said. "We are going into the Great Reef itself," he said. "How many people do you know that have gone into the reef?"
"None, because it is dangerous," Tony said.
"Exactly," Ning said. "That is why we will go there. After all, the best location to find a treasure is the place where nobody visits it."
