Chapter 720 Words (Part 2)
Surprisingly, the night was something that suited the Kingdom of Mibothen, not because of its darkness, but because when the moon finally appeared between the clouds, all the white snow that rested softly on the ground began to shine brightly, making each and every landscape in this kingdom dazzling, even in the midst of the destruction created by the local paranormal disturbance.
After a few hours of gathering, the army of players finally completely surrounded the Royal Capital.
The moon was already low, indicating that there were only a few more hours until dawn. Time was running out.
Taznaar, the Fire Elementalist, stood on a hill to the northwest of the Capital, watching the city's skyline with sharp eyes. He had a serious look, but a confident smile on his face. Next to him was Leohorn the Viking and Lara Davidson the rifler.
"Guys, let's not let these extras overshadow us! Today we're going to kill at least one High Demon!" Taznaar shouted, and the squad of players behind him roared, raising their weapons.
"Frankly, this guy seems incapable of learning." Korgrak muttered, but because of his mask, only an inaudible sound could be heard by those around him.
"What did you say?" Jeewok, one of her swordsmen, asked and looked at Salles, the other swordsman. "What did she say?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSalles shrugged, indicating that he didn't understand either.
Under his mask, Korgrak blushed, because he had forgotten for a moment that he was wearing a mask. "F-focus on the battlefield, the battle is about to begin."
A few dozen meters away, Arthas, the former captain of the Tretidian royal guard, was staring at the city with his arms crossed and his feet tapping anxiously on the ground. "This is the first time I've seen a battlefield from the rear..." He said to himself and then looked at the platoon a few meters ahead of him.
Thus, he easily spotted Davster and Ravastine, in the vanguard of this platoon.
"I hope they don't die in this battle." Arthas said.
Ravastine was positioned in the middle of the ordinary players, who looked at her with extreme admiration for her beauty. Her eyes shone with determination and that was enough to make many people's hearts flutter.
For her part, Araxie, the valiant paladin of the Crimson Soldiers, had her shield ready and her sword even more ready, at the head of a squad too.
Thus, at the same time as the various platoons around the city were preparing for battle, Dodir, of the Crimson Soldiers Guild, was already moving silently through the shadows, infiltrating enemy territory to gather valuable information, which was quickly exchanged because of Eraskan's Owl, which thus maintained a form of rapid communication and exchange of information.
Orkoi, the hunter, was also already in the city. He was identifying the most open areas, such as squares and markets, where the large platoons could attract at least one demon to fight in a wider space.
So, at the vanguard of the army's main platoon, made up of just over a thousand players, some of the most powerful players present were gathered.
Draken, Leader of the Sentinel Guild, was a large man in even larger armor. His guild had gained a lot of fame, especially after the Tournament of the Three Great Human Kingdoms, because in battle there were no Tanks more useful than those nicknamed 'Sentinels'. Their swords were transformed into large magical shields, capable of protecting an entire front, and they also had regenerative durability, meaning that although they were destroyed, they recovered. For this reason, these men in big black armor were a match for anyone.
Cephal, the Fierce Evolved, was holding an axe borrowed from Kaizen, the muscles in his arms tense with the anticipation of battle.
Kaizen looked at Cephal and said:
"Do you like what I lent you?"
Cephal spun the axe, showing skill. "It's a bit too light and the construction isn't bad, but there's room for improvement. By the way, you should know that when I find Fryft, I'm going to take my axe back and throw this one in the trash."
Kaizen shrugged. "Suit yourself, it's just a Mythic-ranked axe."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWhen the players around them heard this, they immediately looked at Cephal's axe greedily, which made them grit their teeth at him, like a jealous mother with her young.
Xisrith, the descendragon, stood next to Kaizen, whispering a mantra to calm herself down. She made circles in the palm of her hand and then brought them to her mouth.
"Nervous?" Kaizen asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
She looked away and nodded without hesitation. "I knew it would end this way, but I can't think that any of us could die."
"It's not that any of us could die, one of us will die, but that's why I didn't want to put any NPCs with us here. We can revive and they can't, so don't worry."
Xisrith nodded, but still looked worried, and Kaizen couldn't let that pass, after all, in a battle, trust is essential.
"You know, Xisrith, it was because I knew you that I managed to avoid the worst when I met their leader, Zylok. You were the one who showed me that there is more than one way to resolve differences and if I hadn't met you, I probably wouldn't have dialogued with them, I would have just fought with everything I had and that would have meant defeat."
His words seemed to mean a lot to her, because her jaw dropped and a sparkle appeared in her eyes. At that moment, she put her hand on the handle of her katana and looked forward.
"Thank you, Kaizen. That means a lot to me. I won't be a hindrance to you during the battle, our plan will work."
Inevitably, Kaizen smiled.
"By the way, where is the Bloody Lily again?" Cephal asked as he brushed some dirt out of his ear.
"Don't worry about it, she's in a place where the demons can't tell her apart from the other ordinary people, in one of the parallel platoons." Kaizen said ambiguously, because according to Fryft's information there was a demon among the other nine who could read the memories of the people he killed, so even if one of the players around Kaizen died and he discovered the master plan, there would be no way of finding out where Bloody Lily was.
