"Oh no..." Lily, Reva, and Yuria became even more anxious hearing how dangerous Ghouls were.
"Don't worry. Nothing will happen to our Damien. Some stupid flesh-eating creatures won't get in his way," Valentina said with full confidence.
She actually believed that nothing could faze Damien. But at the same time, it didn't diminish her urge to find him as soon as possible.
"Then what about those beasts who could also take human forms?" Yuria asked, remembering the giant snake that attacked and almost killed them.
Alex let out a heavy such as she closed her eyes, "Those kinds of Ghouls are the ones we should be most terrified of. They literally rule this world. We call them Daemons. They are very powerful and terrifying nethereal beasts who can also take human form even if they are not really humans."
Hearing Alex's explanation, Lily, Reva, and Yuria thought of Valentina, who had similar abilities. But they remembered that, unlike ethereal beasts, Valentina possessed a human-like ethereal core, and thus she was actually half-human.
But hearing the term "nethereal", they couldn't help but think of the mysterious power Damien uses to jump levels and defeat enemies.
The strange jet-black power that fill his veins whenever he goes into a battle. How could that energy be related to some man-eating monsters?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtOne thing they knew for a fact was Damien was no monster, and he would never hurt anyone mindlessly.
All four of them exchanged quick glances and decided to not tell these people about Damien too much lest they misunderstand.
But Valentina immediately hinted at the fact that Farah knew everything. Her first thought was to finish her off silently and quickly before she blurts out everything she knew about Damien.
"Let's go meet the leader of this city. You all will know whatever is necessary," Alex said as she took off into the air as the rest followed.
"Valentina, don't try anything now. We will just have to take our chances," Yuria mentally said to Valentina upon feeling bloodlust slowly rising in Valentina's body.
"Yuria is right. For now, we have a safe place to think about what we need to do next. Getting kicked out or worse wouldn't help us find Damien," Reva chimed in since she knew how impulsive Valentina can be.
"I understand," Valentina said with a reluctant expression. She didn't like that her hands were tied, but she understood what two of her sisters said.
Farah shot a glance at Valentina with a smirk that made Valentina try even more hard to suppress her urges.
She never trusted this woman for a second. But since Damien wanted her alive to guide them all to safety, she had to put up with her presence.
Alex descended down the tallest building in the city, which also looked in shambles but better than the rest.
There were still creepers and molds growing on the building, and some of the building seemed to have gotten chipped off due to the passage of time.
Reva, Lily, and Valentina were still getting used to the strange architecture of these buildings though Yuria felt that these buildings looked similar.
She had heard about Damien and Reva seeing Anthon Vahn's memories and wondered if these buildings looked like this due to how advanced civilization was before the apocalypse that laid waste to this world.
There were many guards in suits walking around the building as if they were guarding it. But the moment they saw these four heavenly beauties, they stood still as if they got stunned by their beauties.
A tall and bulky man who was simply wearing a vest and pants narrowed his gray eyes as he looked at these four coming his way.
He twirled his thick mustache as he asked, "So you four are the girls from the Land of Salvation, huh? Who would have thought an isolated island stuck in the past would have such beauties? I am afraid the leader won't pay you any attention anymore, Alex, haha."
Alex's expression became severe as she said, "Talk about our leader like that once again...then you won't have a tongue to wag, Khal."
Khal's expression immediately became ugly as his expression contorted slightly.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Now, step aside. We have important matters to discuss," Alex sternly said to which Khal scoffed as he stepped aside with his thumbs tucked into his pants.
Valentina curled her lips in annoyance since she didn't like the stench coming off the blood flowing through his body.
Lily, Reva, and Yuria ignored his stare and comments since this wasn't the first time they had come across such men.
However, this was a reminder to them that they should do whatever was necessary to get stronger quickly. Not only would that help them to venture out on their own to find Damien, but they could also step on those who try to step on them.
All of them entered the building and found themselves walking through a large hall with broken stairs on either side leading to the floor above them.
"What is the need for stairs if people can just fly up to the first floor?" Lily curiously asked.
Farah chuckled as he said, "My sweet Lily. Sometimes people don't do things just because they can do them. This building once used to be a place where important decisions would be taken by important people. Still, common people would visit this building, and even if they could fly, everyone would take the stairs as a way of showing respect instead of making it a mess with everybody flying here and there."
"But fret not, there is no way we are taking stairs to go to the top floor," Farah smiled as the four of them saw Alex pressing a huge black button on the pedestal in the middle.
And the best moment, they saw a large teleportation formation lighting up.
Everybody stepped into the formation before disappearing into thin air.
Within the next second, all of them found themselves arriving in a large corridor where various men and women in uniforms were moving to and fro.
However, all of them shit strange glances upon seeing four new faces, especially the way they were dressed and their beauty that lit up the entire corridor.
And on the far end of the corridor were two large metal doors towards which Alex was leading the four of them.
