“That’s what makes it a challenge,” Wilhelm explained with a stern expression. “If it’s something
anyone can do, I wouldn’t be using it as a test for my future brother-in-law. Obviously, Mr. Fairchild can
seek help from anyone, as long as he relies on his own resources. The deadline is half a month.”
“Just half a month?” Winnie’s brows furrowed tightly. “Isn’t it too short?”
Wilhelm cocked a brow in response. “There’s nothing I can do about it. That’s the deadline Prince
Andrew has given me.”
Rendered speechless, Winnie took a deep breath. “Fine. In that case, didn’t you say that it’s all right for
him to seek help from anyone he wants?”
“Yes, I believe Mr. Fairchild has his own network.” Wilhelm broke into a smile before he finished, “Isn’t
that right?”
Meeting Wilhelm’s gaze, Xavier showed no intention of backing down. “It is, Mr. Speiser. Your
observations are correct.”
“Very good.” Wilhelm was certain of Xavier’s failure. “In that case, I hope to hear good news from you
soon. Anyway, I won’t be joining you for lunch as I have something to deal with.”
With that, Wilhelm took his leave.
Watching his leaving silhouette, Winnie could feel the frustration growing inside her. If not for the fact
that he was her brother and they were in front of their grandparents, she would have definitely given
him a piece of her mind.
Didn’t we agree last night that the trial has ended? I didn’t expect him to still have something up his
sleeve. Just as expected of a sly old fox with ill intentions!
Sensing the change in Winnie’s mood, Xavier discreetly held her hand and whispered, “Don’t worry. I
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtabsolutely won’t let you down.”
His words caused Winnie to quickly regain her composure.
She asked him, “Do you already have a plan?”
“There’s no hurry. We still have half a month left.” Xavier curled his lips slightly. “We’ll naturally find a
solution when the time comes. Anyway, don’t forget why we’re here. We should complete what we
came here to do.”
The objective Xavier was talking about was having lunch with Joshua and Emily. Throughout the rest of
the meal, no one brought up the challenge again.
In truth, even Winnie was capable of coming up with a solution to the matter. It was just that she lacked
confidence in her solution.
That was the reason why she asked Wilhelm whether Xavier could seek out others for help.
After all, she was capable of offering assistance herself.
Nonetheless, she was still curious as to whether Xavier was capable of coming up with a plan.
In the meantime, they stayed at the manor for the rest of the day and only went home after dinner.
As the matter was related to Andrew’s privacy, both of them didn’t discuss it in the car.
It wasn’t until they were back in Winnie’s condominium that she asked Xavier, “What is your plan? Can
it really be done within half a month?”
The task Andrew had given Wilhelm was to get his girlfriend into the Livingsfill Physics Research
Center.
Livingsfill was the capital of Yartran, and its physics research center was the foremost of its kind in the
entire world.
All the physics researchers who worked there were the cream of the crop. Thus, it was impossible for
any ordinary researchers to get in. A vacancy for a single researcher would only open up every two to
three years, and the center would rather not hire anyone if no candidates met their standards.
Andrew’s girlfriend, who was a physicist, didn’t come from a prestigious family—an obstacle to him
marrying her. Therefore, he had hoped to get her into the Livingsfill Physics Research Center in an
attempt to raise her social standing.
“Therefore, are you really confident in accomplishing something which even the royal family can’t?”
Winnie asked Xavier with curiosity written all over her face.
Given how rare it was to see her so curious about something, Xavier, in an attempt to tease her, kept
her in suspense.
“Actually, I wanted to ask you why a prince would come to your brother for something even he can’t
achieve?”
“That’s because the prince holds no real power.” Winnie’s expression turned serious at the mention of
the topic.
“Don’t underestimate Wilhelm. The only reason this hasn’t been resolved yet is that he hasn’t gotten
involved in the sciences. Also, you had better stop being evasive and share your plans with me.”
“Are you that desperate to know?” Xavier pulled her into his embrace. “Kiss me, and I’ll tell you.”
Speechless, Winnie responded with a punch instead. “Don’t take advantage of my good nature.”
Even though her punch didn’t hurt, it was enough to get Xavier to cooperate.
He explained obediently, “I know someone. He’s a classmate of mine who’s a physicist in Yartran.
Hence, I can get him to come up with a plan.”
Winnie’s brows furrowed. “Does this mean you’re confident?”
“Um…” Xavier hesitated briefly. “I’ll know only after I speak to him. Worse comes to worst, I’ll just offer
to sponsor the research center. I figure that they won’t say no to money.”
“Not necessarily, as this research center has funding oozing out of their ears. Even the lab coats of the

“Is that so? How do you know so much?” All of a sudden, the mischievous Xavier sat upright. “Don’t tell
me that you’re one of them?”
Winnie was rendered speechless. “Do I look like Newton or Einstein to you?”
Xavier chuckled in response. “You better not, as I prefer the way you look now.”
Ignoring his comment, Winnie pondered before continuing, “Even though I’m not a member of the staff,
I have a friend who is. This is something even Wilhelm isn’t aware of.”
“Mmm-hmm.” Xavier nodded. “You really are a cunning little vixen. With the number of secrets you’re
hiding, it’s not a surprise that he doesn’t know.”
“Excuse me? Aren’t you missing the point? I’m telling you that I can help you. As Wilhelm said, you’re
free to enlist anyone’s help or use any resources at your disposal, and those naturally include me. Do
you understand?”
“I do.”
When a nod was all his response consisted of, Winnie sat up from his arms. “That’s it?”
“Yeah,” Xavier replied as he held her hands tightly. “This is a challenge that I have taken upon myself.
Although I’m allowed to seek your help, it would be more appropriate for you—as an interested party—
not to get involved. Moreover, I would like to prove myself by completing the task, which is, after all, a
demonstration of my capabilities. Therefore, for the next half month, why don’t you take a break and
leave everything to me?”
At the sight of her knitted brows, Xavier stroked his finger over them to ease her frown. “Do you not
believe in me?”
Holding his hand, Winnie gave it a gentle rub. “Of course I have faith in you. Let’s put Wilhelm in his
place together this time.”
